Smassy1, thanks for the tips, especially about the pool, of what to look for.

Simply_sara79, thanks I think the closest 24hr gym is 5+ miles away and I'm trying to pick places that are within -2 miles of home, or they would be on my list.

If I try the gym route again it needs to be a) someplace our teens can go too, b) affordable.

For now I'm continuing with the at home activities, Wii, DVD's, Netflix, internet videos, and plain old fashioned get up and move activities.

140 lb (college & met DH weight)

I haven't used either of the gyms mentioned, but had seriously considered the first one. I did not check out Cal Fit..... ONE THING you need to do (if you are considering using the pool).. take a GOOD LOOK. I found it was not very clean and the lockers weren't either. Another person I know said the same thing when she checked it out. Find out EXACTLY what their cleaning habits are for the pool. I know that each club has a different schedule.. and if the pool is down for 'cleaning' at a certain time. It COULD BE that that is exactly the time when you had planned to go. Your schedule might have to be adjusted so as not to conflict. Just some ideas.

California Peak fitness on Watt Ave. in North Highlands?

There $$ seems a little steep for our budget but they are the closest to our house. While it might be a few months before I can consider trying a gym again, I want to start the search & review process now.

Also can anyone tell me about CalFit it's a little further than peak fitness but 2nd closest that is not a Curves. Especially what their pricing is like for single/family.
