Our core temperature needs to drop to trigger our sleep hormones. If weíre too hot, our body doesn't think itís time to go to sleep yet, so it keeps our brain alert. Ideally, the bedroom should be 19 degrees (67F) - the optimal temperature for sleep.

How To Pick The Perfect Watermelon

ē It should feel heavy for its size.
ē The rind should be shiny and firm.
ē Look for the yellow spot on the watermelon - that's where it was resting on the ground. This spot is originally white, but turns yellow as the sugars develop, so a yellow spot mean it's sweet!

FYI - because it has so much water, watermelon has a low glycemic load, meaning it doesn't raise blood sugar levels quickly. (The high GI is based on 5 cups of watermelon, not an actual serving size of 1 cup. The low GL means one serving of watermelon doesn't contain much carbohydrate, because it is actually mostly water. The low GL indicates that a serving of watermelon won't have much impact on your blood sugar.)

Keep Your Eyes Healthy Working From Home

1. Move so you're closer to a window. More natural light helps.
2. Set alarms to take regular screen breaks. Remember the 20-20-20 rule. That's where you stare at something that's 20 feet away for 20 seconds, every 20 minutes.
3. Use eye drops - just check the label and make sure you don't overuse them. Especially if they're prescription eye drops.
4. Have a good desk lamp for when the light isn't good. Poor lighting can cause headaches, irritability, and even make you less productive.
5. Stay about two feet from your computer screen. Any closer than that is harder on your eyes.

It is because when you hum, you are actually exhaling, so if both your mouth and your nose is closed, the air can't escape. ... So, although you can hum for a very brief few second or two, you will be forced to open your mouth and catch your breath.

When you sneeze, the particles ejected out of your nostrils are traveling at 100 miles per hour. This is faster than the maximum run speed of a cheetah which is roughly 70-75 miles per hour. And that one sneeze can travel from 19 to 26 feet.

These two facts should help everyone understand why wearing a mask in these Covid-19 times is so very important.

Normally, proper sneezing etiquette is to:
1. Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue when you cough or sneeze
2. Throw used tissues in the trash.
3. If you don't have a tissue, cough or sneeze into your elbow, not your hands.



But, these are not normal times and extra precautions are needed hence the wearing of a mask will help protect you from the virus, and at the same time, wearing a mask will help protect others around you especially if you are sick.

Did You Know?

A new study touts the benefits of honey for treating common coughs and colds. Experts at Oxford University found that honey was better at relieving coughs, sore throats and congestion, with no harmful side effects. On average -- honey was 36 per cent more effective at reducing cough frequency and cut cough severity by 44 per cent or more.

It also appeared to reduce the time it takes to recover from a cough or cold by up to two days. The study's authors hope using honey for upper respiratory tract infections could reduce the overprescription of antibiotics.

Learned a new word today.

Did You Know?

The best sources of iron include liver and other organ meats, oysters, and black strap molasses. Good food sources include spinach, beans, and peas. Fair sources include lean meats, other shellfish, egg yolks, nuts, dried fruit, other green leafy vegetables, whole grains, poultry, and fish.

Although each of these substances have been linked to cold prevention in some studies, but the jury's still out on the best role for herbal and vitamin supplements. According to respected organizations (such as the National Institutes of Health and the National Lung Association), there is no conclusive evidence that supports the notion that taking large doses of vitamin C, zinc, or Echinacea will prevent colds. However, these nutrients may reduce the severity or duration of some symptoms. Always talk to your doctor before taking any supplements.

To accurately measure your resting heart rate: Count your pulse on your wrist (radial pulse) or on the side of your neck (carotid pulse)--prior to getting out of bed in the morning. Count the number of beats, starting with zero, for one full minute. For accuracy, take your resting heart rate three mornings in a row and average the heart rates.
