I am on here late....I didn't want to miss a day in my streak of logging in. Lol. I stayed home from work today, and mostly rested.......sore throat, ear ache. They are still hurting, but I will be at work tomorrow anyway.

Kathleen, I'm glad you had fun in the mud! At least you're not like our youngest sister....remember how she used to make mud pies and then try to eat them? Yuck....but that was a very long time ago.

Karen........so, you make bread too? So do I....I love it...it's creative and therapeutic and tastes good!

Oops....it will be midnight in a minute....gotta go get some sleep!

I'm all for naps, too, as long as they are short. Long naps leave me groggy and disoriented.

I have gotten a lot done in the two days since we got back. I have a huge pile of clean laundry to sort, but the cats like burrowing into it so I'm leaving it to them for a day.

Walked this morning, but napped away the day after a sleepless night. I get excited by something (like pottery class), then cannot sleep. Lifelong pattern. The difference now is that I no longer get that second or third wind that takes me through another day. That's okay. Naps are good.

Ruth: Your mentee (what's her first name?) sounds like she's doing very well. I'm 72 and still don't save very much.

Kay: Please take a picture of that leprechaun...it could make you rich (after which, remember who you're BFF is)

Here's something that has had me laughing all day...on and off. My daughter-in-law posted it on Facebook (one of those posters but I couldn't copy it):

Not much going on with me. We did taste the soup that didnít seal. And I must say it was just ok but some of the veggies were mushy and others were cooked just right. So it is isnít something I would want to give as presents anyway.

Tomorrow I will be back to picking tomatoes and green beans but no canning in the picture. DH and/or I will can tomatoes after his roof project is complete.

I have a couple of things on ebay that are selling and end Saturday. One has bids the other one doesnít yet so they will be shipped next week or at least one of them will. Then I will look into listing some other things that I want to get rid of. I only do a couple of things at a time it is too overwhelming for me to do anymore. And I need to investigate before listing to check on prices and if anything like them has sold before on ebay. Etc

Still donít have the ceiling done in the kitchen will mix up some touch paint and dry to cover up spots if I can get the right white mixed up so it wonít show. Will probably work on that after the 5K on Saturday or Sunday.

Kay sounds like you are enjoying your trip. Wish we were all there with you. LOL

Kathleen I donít want to hear about anything exploding. LOL Enjoy your potter class.

Karen I havenít been on pinterest much lately until the last few days. I am trying to find some good potluck recipes for the RV Enthusiast (Spark Team) rally in September. They had their first rally last year at Custer SD this year it is in Branson, MO and next year they are talking about Las Vegas. It is so much fun to meet new sparkers and spouses. This year a few singles are coming too.

I go by the name of PJ and live north of KC, MO. Winter in East Texas.

Onward and Downward

Its always too soon to quit.

It may take me longer to get to my goal than my original plan but I will get there.

This is short. I did see a leprechaun from a distance. Our tour director pointed one out to us. Then she showed us a small old church where they go to Mass on Sunday. Also we saw a leprechaun crossing sign when we were riding through the forest. She also told is a story that her grandmother told her about fairies. emoticon

Kathleen/Karen will look for those crackers and cookies next time I am at IKEA, donít get there very often as it is about an hour away.
Karen you found a new way to make the soup and it is probably a little healthier, I love cheese and broccoli soup will have to try it without the cheese some time.
Have a great day all.

Kathleen, WooHoo! Playing in the mud with style, lol. I bet that's fun. It's great to find a new enjoyment unexpectedly, isn't it? Also, I think it's something about getting your hands into something. It's a special feeling when I'm kneading bread. . . You have definitely landed in the right city for classes in anything you want. I'm envious!

I decided to make broccoli cheddar soup yesterday. I had all the ingredients so I went through the process (I love cooking) and had it ready in time for lunch. It was delicious. So I was going to put some aside for Joe to take home and began thinking about telling him how I made it. We both love to cook and always share how we put something together.

It was then that I realized that I forgot to put the cheddar in my broccoli/cheddar soup! No cheese at all, lol. It really did taste good but I guess I'll have to rename it cream of broccoli soup, lol.

Viv, if you hear from Kay again, be sure to ask her if she's kissed a leprechaun for me yet. She said she would.

Sandra, your jelly inserts were much more intriguing, lol. A bit sticky though, I suppose.

Lap swimming this morning. Love it!

I started a pottery class tonight! I have never done anything with clay before. Well, I vaguely recall a grade school disaster and maybe a Playdough experiment, but that was long ago and far away, as the saying goes. I am not sure how far along I will go with the pottery wheel. The shoulder injury and the neuropathy in the right hand calls it into question. But I will keep on plugging away. I actually "threw" three one pound balls of clay tonight that might have a chance of becoming something. IF I didn't leave so much air in them that they explode in the kiln. LOL. I am playing in the mud again!

Yes, Kathleen, the ginger cookies from Ikea are delicious, especially with tea. I'll need some this winter when I drink the most herbal tea.

I love the multigrain crackers and the cookies. I really wanted something satisfying and can easily make a snack out of the cracker, a low fat Laughing Cow light Swiss cheese triangle and a few radishes or jicama on the side. The crackers are not small...they are 3 or 4 inch diameter rounds. So one does the trick. Those thin ginger and almond crisps were delightful. I am thinking of having two with a cup of tea tomorrow for a mid morning pick me up.

Karen/Kathleen I understand, I do not like having photos taken. Great that you had such a good visit.
Leslie glad the dress fits for your trip, have a safe and fun trip.
Karen you are so right about Helen Mirren, did you read the article about her in AARP?
Kathleen/Karen tell us what you think about the crackers you bought, always looking for new ones.
Sandra Sketchers run $65 in the US, do you have Kohlís department stores in your area they are always having sales on them.
Ruth here is WI they cannot ask you to movie without a very good reason, can he fight this through the system.
emoticon GOALIEGRANDMA3 Enjoy your special day.
Naomi glad you got a good nightís sleep, not doing so is so draining.
Kay had scones and whipped butter on a sheep farm yesterday, she does not have a lot of time to Spark.
Spent the day cleaning, not my ideal way to spend the day but it has to be done. Ideal day for it low 70ís no humidity and a cool breeze.
Have a great evening all.

Sandra: I do hope you got the jelly insets for your shoes from Ikea! Less calories emoticon

Jeanne: We know you are packing. Even after all your cleaning out, you always need another box or bag for those items you forgot.

Glad Karen and Kathleen could get together for lunch and visit Ikea. Even though things are in metrics there are tape measures that have feet and inches on one side and centimeters on the other, Converting isn't even necessary, but reading is.

In about a week I hope to be meeting a Spark acquaintance for lunch. We've been Sparking for years and she will be in the Philadelphia area for a week with her daughter and grandkids.

DS got notice that when his lease is up he will have to move out at the end of the month. I guess that means that I'll be commandeered to help provide transportation for the apartment/house hunt.

Karen and Kathleen: So glad you got to meet and enjoy each other's company. Wish more of us could do that!

Vivienne: re Sketchers...Karen has also mentioned them but I was waiting to see what the Podiatrist had to say. They seem to sell their own stuff besides the inserts they get manufactured. Saucony is the name they promote. I'm not influenced by that, though. I do have a jelly insert in my latest sneakers: Reebok (bought before I heard about Sketchers)

Yes, Ikea has all sorts of imported (of course) gourmet food items. Joe buys a different coffee each time we go. They also have some good looking spreads and canned things. Nothing you'll find in your grocery. Worth trying.

You must hold your breath when you first enter though. They sell huge cinnamon and sticky rolls right up front, so you can't resist the aroma of all that sugar and fat, lol.

Karen -- so glad we had lunch. It was such fun. I could not believe how the time seemed to fly by. Well, it did once we got the servers to give us a little less attention.

BTW, everyone, Karen is looking so fit, it makes me want to jump in a pool and do laps. Oops, can't right now (injured wing). Lol.

PJ, I love IKEA. I just cannot help myself. In my mind, I still think I'm in my 40's, so I think I can do anything. But in reality, I cannot. So I have to pay to have people assemble things for me. Which drives the price up, sometimes involves unexpected frustrations and delays my gratification. Phooey. But I keep going back.

Don't forget to check out the food if you go to IKEA. For example, they have a multigrain crispbread (large cracker) that is only 45 calories, has only 7 grams of carbs and has 2 grams of fiber. One cracker is large enough to accommodate one Laughing Cow spreadable cheese triangle. Together, they make a really satisfying snack item. And yesterday, Karen spotted a thin cookie package we each decided to buy and try. The cookies are called Pepparkaka Mandel and are ginger thins with almonds. It takes 5 cookies to make a 23 carb serving, so 1 cookie (or 2) makes a tasty cheat.

Well, it is time to get moving. Have a wonderful Wednesday!

We got home tonight instead of tomorrow. When we got to our stopping point we just decided to drive the full 800 miles to get home. I'm tired and poor DH is exhausted. On Sunday when we were in Hot Springs it was 95 degrees and humid, and he wanted to go for a walk. We were only out for an hour or so, but when we got back he looked like he was going to drop. A total stranger rushed up to give him a cup of ice water. Yesterday he slept the whole time in the car and slept nearly 10 hours last night. Poor guy.

I've been to Ikea, and you have to have a care when buying certain things like kitchen and bathroom installations. Their stuff is in metric, but our fixtures and appliances are in inches. It can be a tricky fit.

I had a lot of fun with Kathleen! She's very cute and has the personality to go with it. We talked, ate, laughed and talked and laughed more. After lunch we went to IKEA. (Must be Ikea day, PJ.)

I'd been once or twice before but not recently. PJ, as crafty and imaginative as you are I think you'd love browsing Ikea. I was looking at area rugs and they had a big selection. Kathleen was showing me the modular wardrobe/closet sections she bought and which of the many beautiful doors she selected for them.

For some reason I'm always drawn to their bathroom sinks and fixtures. Not like any I've seen at Home Depot, lol.

I only hugged two other women and called them Kathleen while I was waiting for the real one to arrive, lol. I think it made everybody happy, lol.

PJ: Glad you didn't get hurt!

Ruth: I'll remind you in a year or two to bring your bag(s) to Ikea.

Kathleen (Kate?) and Karen: Hope you are having fun or about to have fun....pictures?

The air seems half humid and half fresh...can't complain.

Saw my very first Podiatrist today and he recommended $300 orthotics to help deal with the Plantar Fasciitis. I don't have a private health plan so this is all out-of-pocket so...have to find the $$$'s if I want to go that route. My doctor should have referred me to a clinic and that would have been paid for. She's was very naughty the last time I saw her for not doing that and for poo-pooing my "condition". She must have been in a bad mood that day and I probably should have insisted that she give me a referral instead of "taking care of myself".

Sometimes referrals don't work out, though. The last time she referred me to the Dept. of Physiotherapy at the hospital, the woman I got thought that I could fix myself. So, I paid for a great private physiotherapist and now have no problem in those areas. It's a coin toss...

Kathleen and Karen, I hope you guys have a great lunchtime visit!

Nothing much going on here....work, mostly. I'm glad I can check in on SparkPeople on my lunchtime.

The weather is a bit cooler and a lot less humid...at least for the next few days. August is usually the hottest, most humid month here in CT.

PJ: Ikea is just another store with products with strange (sometimes Swedish, sometimes made-up) names for the products. If you like the clean look of European design it might be a place you should visit. I did not visit the furniture galleries, but toured the accessories departments.

I bought pretty pedestrian things like dish towels (100 per cent cotton, 79 cents each) bath mats, a clip on lamp that I can use abroad when reading (Latin countries are not known for great reading lighting) , things like that. Ikea no longer hands out bags for purchases, you've either got to bring your own or buy their reusable bags. Since I had a trunk full of bags, I declined, and carried out the stuff in my arms. Had I known I would have brought my shopping bags into the store with me. Hope I'll remember them next time I visit in a few years.

So I ended up having a not very pleasant experience yesterday. When my soup was done I was taking them from the canner and putting them on my cooling rack on the countertop when one exploded. Luckily I was on the other side of the kitchen getting another jar so was not hurt or burned just scared the tar out of me and oh what a mess there was stuff on cabinets, floor, countertops, doors and ceilings. I wanted to cry both from the mess and the scare, but pulled up my boot straps and started cleaning. It is all cleaned up except the ceiling I will tackle that either this afternoon or tomorrow. Iím not sure what we can do with it since it is a popcorn textured ceiling. I will attempt with tweezers (in necessary) to pull the chunks off. And then go from there. We were going to be doing some ceiling repairs and painting anyway from previous water leaks so it may just wait until we do that.

I went to Zumba this morning skipped yoga and went and got a new guage for the canner. However I strongly feel it was just a bad jar. Tonight I have a hospice quarterly meeting to attend.

Ruth lucky you I have wanted to go to an Ikea Store. What did you think? Did you make any purchases?

Just back from weekly physical therapy. On a bit of a respite, due to a tad bit of reinjury. Ice today, rest tomorrow. Resume slowly with home exercise program starting on Thursday. Silly me.

Today is lunch with Karen day! Excited!

Viv, most people like the water aerobics but I prefer lap swimming. I guess I just like doing my own thing. No matter. An hour moving in the water is good no matter how you do it.

Ruth I love that soup also, I found a recipe for a copycat soup on food.com and have made it a few times. I put the link in the Food To Share category.
Karen I have been taking a water aerobics class twice a week for the past few months and love it, enjoy your swim today.
Have a great day everyone.

Hello All:

When I take my son to the MD's we always pass Ikea. Well, today I told him I was going to stop on the way home. He walked Shiba while I toured the household accessories. After dropping off his prescription we had the soup and salad lunch at Olive Garden. They have really tasty Tuscan soup, wish I had a recipe for it.

This afternoon I am catching up on mail, email and filing while the laundry is taking care of itself (sort of),

Frank is up on our roof tearing off siding fixing our last roof dormer looking for where our celing has leaked in the past. I am in the kitchen canning the vegetable soup (I added this recipe to the Food thread for this team). Hoping this recipe comes out good as I am going to use it as Christmas gifts for the family. Also going to make the Green Bean soup for us to have tonight.

Our temps are in the 80s so pleasant, I did get out for a walk early this morning and have been tracking my water and food today. Planning to get back into tracking in order to start losing this weight again. Also going to get my habit back of STs 3 times a week at home. I have been so lax this summer and scales are starting to show it. Changing things before it gets TOO out of hand.

Karen sounds like you and Joe are getting things done at your houses. Keep up with the elliptical . I used one for a short time when I was going to the fitness center but now I am only going for their classes. Definitely don't cancel that lunch date.

Good Morning everyone,

Ah Ireland, such a magical place, wish I were with you on this trip! Happy Monday all, I have decided to set some goals just for this week, I need to get back on track after the month of what ever I had. I feel I have lost what I had gained in strength with no exercise at all. So I am taking my goals one week at a time and one day at a time. I will get back to my former level of fitness. Did not gain over this time so WooHoo for that.

Kay, thanks for writing to us from Ireland! I hope your travels are smooth and fun!

I visited with my son and his girlfriend yesterday and then went to Joe's house. He has upgraded his entire life, lol, all in one day with a new flatscreen tv, wireless router, and new pc. He just bought a new laptop a few weeks ago. His new LG tv remote wouldn't work unless you held it less than a foot from the sensor. I went to get new batteries for him to try, just in case, but no luck. So we loaded everything into my car and made the exchange.

When he started to install the router his old pc couldn't handle the software so he went back and bought the new one. Finally, everything is working and we streamed a French tv series from Netflix last night, with captions of course.

The man who does my home repairs sent one of his men over Saturday to prep my deck for "fox proofing" and he also moved all three of my heavy bird baths and leveled the stones they were sitting on. Now they are all level and hold the water they were meant to.

They will work on my deck this week. I told them any day except Tuesday because Kathleen and I are meeting for lunch Tuesday and I am not cancelling that again, so there!

Kathleen, I've heard lots of people say how much they enjoyed Painting With a Twist. Sounds like a great girls' night out.

Anyone use an elliptical? The first time I tried one, sometime last year, I couldn't walk for a week, lol. Actually I could walk but when I tried to sit down my thighs screamed and screamed! So now I'm using Joe's every other day and working my way up slowly. I'm up to 3 1/2 minutes. Wow. Am I impressive or what? LOL

It's Monday. Work hard at enjoying your life.

Karen

Listening to the thunder..one of the delights of summer.

Taking DS to yet another appointment with his orthopaedic surgeon tomorrow. When he has seizures he keeps falling and damaging that shoulder. I hope with his new insurance, soon to kick in, that he will also see a neurologist and get back on seizure meds...this is happening all too often.

Have a good evening.

Just tinkering about today. Going to head out to the gym soon. I am trying to stay focused on meeting my goal of every other day gym activity.

Alas, nothing helps with weight loss. And many of the things I read focus on eating less -- as though the assumption is, if you are overweight, you eat too much. I need to consume more calories and that is really hard to do when you are restricted to low carb, low fat and low sodium. Upping my calorie intake at all leads to more fluid retention and weight gain. Metabolic woes post aggressive chemotherapy.

I need to be patient. I am still rehabbing my shoulder, after all. That pesky thing has been an obstacle. Once I get it as good as it is going to get (just about there), I can work on strengthening it (already started), then finally work on upper body and core strength again. Until then, just have to keep regularly committed to a good cardio routine and distance walking to improve strength and balance.

Oh, I had a fabulous time at Painting With a Twist with my future DIL (son is off on a New Orleans bachelor party weekend, so I got to snag her for a Friday night). She took a picture while I was apparently having a lot of fun. I am going to upload it to be my profile picture. We have decided we must do this again and invite more people.

We are home from the quick funeral trip. Dad did as good as expected. We all came home tired from a stressful trip and of course none of us slept very good last night in the motel. We got him home in time to have lunch at his place so that will occupy him first thing getting home.

We found a produce stand on the way home and bought 2 dozen ears of corn. Now I have all the ingredients to make the canned vegetable soup recipe that I got from my cousin.

The weather is to be pleasant all week in the 80s so want to get out and enjoy that by starting to ride and walk more.

Mookball that is really frugal of you. I am doing the same. I live with my sister whom can eat everything and not be affected. Sometimes I cook sometimes she does. When I don't I usually have tuna or chicken salad on a bed of greens. Today I found out that Target supplies the Atkins frozen meals now so I bought some of those (I'm on low carb). I buy the BallPark pre-cooked hamburger patties which is perfect to microwave. These are some of the things I do when eating for one.

Not much happening today.

I am trying, once again, to use up all the items in my freezer before buying more. A good friend once said a "freezer is where you put food until you decide to throw it out." That might certainly be true for leftovers, but rarely for fresh meat, poultry and seafood and veggies. If I use foods before their expiration date I can be a good steward of the earth's resources as well as my money.

Now that I am cooking only for myself I need to buy in smaller quantities and perhaps, make more use of prepared foods...so I won't be eating the same thing for days on end? How do you ladies handle "eating for one?"

July is almost over and we are moving into a new month. I will def be glad when summer is over. SoCal has been very HOT and last winter we really didn't have much rain nor cold weather. Hopefully we will get a downpour this Fall.
Going to the school district in August to pay my retiree health benefits. I pay by the year so that I don't have to pay monthly. Always something to take care of.

Hope everyone had a good day, Kay will be on her way in a little while I am sure they will have a great time.
We had a hot one today so I could only work outside until 1 pm then came in cleaned up and read for the rest of the afternoon.
Put a batch of spaghetti sauce in the slow cooker and will freeze tomorrow.
Have a great evening everyone

I'm all gussied up for the wedding, heading out in a few minutes. I'm starving, though. I've been so circumspect with eating this week to be sure I could still fit into my skirt tonight. I do. And I'm looking forward to a fabulous dinner after the nuptials.

Bon Voyage Kay.

Kristine and Kathleen: Nice to have you both join our chats. As a little girl I was jealous of my older sister who always seems to have the advantage of getting to do so much more than me. Then that reversed as she stayed home to raise a family and I raised my step children and son in Latin America. But I've been back in the US for 22 years now, not really wishing to live permanently in SA anymore, but enjoying traveling to some part of Latin America for two months of each year to volunteer in a child care center. My sister and I have grown closer and the petty childhood rivalry has been swept under the bridge as we grew older and wiser (?able for me). It is great to have a sister, and while we seem to grow closer in looks everyday (someone asked us if we were twins a few years ago, confirming our sibling resemblance) we are definitely of opposing political views and life styles. But I appreciate her strengths and weaknesses and I think she tolerates mine.

Yesterday's trip to Lancaster was a waste of my time. The bookstore I visited had so few Spanish children's books, and what they had were brand reinforcements, not educational materials or story books. I did pick out some picture books and simple books in English which can be easily translated. I also set my son the task of translating some books I bought at the library book sale...so I will have a cadre of books to read to the children come fall. I can translate most of them but he has a native speaker's feel for the language that despite 35 years speaking Spanish I don't have. I still have a Gringa accent and he speaks fluently without accent.

I have started watching the Spanish television channels Univision and Foxmundo again, mostly the news, as I can never view their telenovelas (soap operas) often enoughto follow the plots. That way I become accustomed to listening to Spanish and pick up some new vocabulary before my sojourns. Kathy, I'm wondering if you watch any of the Spanish channels to help you with your Spanish.

It is interesting to watch how the Spanish channels treat the subject of illegal child immigrants as compared to the Big Five news sources.

This afternoon I am meeting an acquaintance for a movie in the Bucks County seat, Doylestown.

Well, July is winding down..soon we'll be in to August. It's been a busy month. We finished re-certification in our apts, went to Medieval Times restaurant, got started with my social security (widow's benefits) and kept regular at the gym. I am so ready for this heat to be over with. Not a fan of hot summer days and nights. Anxious to see Autumn return. Last year we had hardly a winter at all. Little rain and cold days. We are in a serious 2-yr drought here in SoCal.Hope it pours this year. Happy Saturday!

I hadn't considered that being sisters might be unique for this team. I must say, we certainly had our disagreements and fights when we were children....but we've been a team for most of our adult lives. It's nice to have someone who knows you so well and loves you anyway.

PJ....yes, I guess I'm the painter, since Kathleen insists that she cannot paint anything (and I keep telling her she can). Kathleen is the actress...she used to be in lots and lots of productions (and I have done some acting as well). I have mostly painted in oils, though acrylics are probably better for me right now due to my limited time. I told Karen that I haven't really gotten into watercolors because I always seem to make mud....and she gave me a way to try to avoid that. Thanks for that Karen, and for letting us know how to attach a signature to our posts if we wish....I'll go look at that now.

I haven't done any painting for awhile, but am inching closer to starting again. emoticon

Oldest son got his new prosthetic foot today. It is strange looking but it is supposed to be much better then his old one. This one will allow more of a natural movement than the old one. I will see it when we do the 5K next weekend.

I finished putting things on the wall this morning and cleaned up the house after getting out and buying a few groceries. We will pick up dad my 7 in the morning and be on our way. I donít plan to do any posting until we get back home on Sunday or Monday. I have been putting together the few things we need for an overnight trip and will call dad later to remind him how early he needs to be ready in the morning. It will be interesting to see if he remembers what clothes we picked out for him to wear.

I am loving my new haircut shorter and layered so much easier to take care of as in I donít have to do anything but wash comb and go. I will try and get a picture while we are gone to post.

I have everything I need to make the Green Bean Soup next week. Anxious to give that one a try since we have fresh tomatoes and green beans from our own garden.

Welcome Kristine and Kathleen. Kathleen your Painting with a Twist sounds like fun. Kristine are you really the ďpainterĒ and what is your medium? Karen and I have dabbled in painting she more than me I think. And I havenít been painting anything lately except walls in my house. LOL Not sure who else paints on this team.

It is so wonderful to have sisters on the team. We feel like we have close friends on the team. You will fit right in now.
Kathleen, I'm glad that you are feeling better. Don't overdo the exercising now. Take one day at the time.
We are still getting it together. My husband is cutting the grass before we leave Saturday. In a few minutes, I need to recheck my packing. I keep changing my mind. The weather in Dublin should be in the mid 50's for the low, and 60's for the high. I am so cold natured. The jacket is out. It's a fleece with a hood incase it rains. I also have 2 cardigans with some turtlenecks.
Mo, I'm sorry that your mother is not getting out. My mother is not getting out either except for doctor's appointments. I've tried to call her today, but haven't reached her. I think she had an eye check-up. Will try again later.

Hi Kate and Sister: Most of us have our name come up whenever we post a message. Just check out your profile. Or....somebody else will tell you how to do it more exactly. It makes it easier to get to know people if we see names come up. You will see on "Mookball's" messages and profile that she is Ruth. And so on.......
Welcome!

I realized I have been reading entries but not posting myself in a while. Such an active group! I get inspired just reading about your lives!

Many of us deal with aging parents - more mothers than fathers it seems - and it helps me to know I am not alone in this challenge. My Mom seems to be getting out less and less, turning down invitations or canceling out at the last moment.

How exciting to have sisters on our team - I am a bit jealous. I've had dear friends along the way who were soul sisters and some of them are still in my life, but I missed out on the blood sister experience.

Blessings ~ Mo

Hello Everyone, including Kate and Kristine, it's nice that you're joining our chats.

I have been missing in action these last two days. Took and friend and DS and his girlfriend to the New Jersey Shore on Wednesday. It was hot but very windy and we were sandblasted all day long. The fine sand being pelted against the body stung, but it sure did a great exfoliation job. At the shore I usually give myself a sand bath, rubbing the wet sand all over my body, it's a great way to get soft skin, but it doesn't do much for weigh loss. This is the poor woman's facial, Kay.

I was so tired when I got home last night (it began pouring rain on the last 10 minutes of the trip), I fed and walked Shiba in the rain and went right to bed

This morning I got up early, donned my bathing suit and headed to New Jersey again, this time with a group of people. We headed for the Wading River, a slow easy cedar creek that empties into Barnegat Bay. The weather was perfect today, 80's, not humid, perfect for paddling canoes down a lazy river. The place where we usually put in the river was closed due to a bridge maintenance project, so we headed further downstream to launch the canoes into the water. Very few canoers or kayakers on the river today, so we felt like we had it all to ourselves.

My niece has cancelled trip out to Lancaster tomorrow.. I don't feel like I can put it off any longer so I may go solo. Lancaster is Pennsylvania Dutch country, with beautiful rolling hills, lovely red barns, black horses and buggies slowing down traffic. Pennsylvania Dutch cooking is not exactly calorie conscious, but it is good and tasty. Once a year is about all I can indulge.

Have a great Friday, everyone.

Kathleen and Kristine! I don't think we've ever had sisters join us. Welcome to the neighborhood!

Joe's parents live in Shelton and his brother and SIL live in Milford. I went there with him about 10 years ago, then road the train to NYC. A nice adventure for a girl from Texas, lol.

Viv, I'd love to see 73 anytime this summer. It's about 80 when I wake up. It does make the swimming pool easy to get into, lol.

Nomi, it's good to have a movie buddy. I don't go see many movies.

Kathleen, I didn't say this while we were on Skype but you are amazing.....can I be like you when I grow up?

My name is Kristine, and I am Kathleen's sister. I am in Connecticut and, since she moved to Texas, this is the first time in probably 30 years that we have not lived close enough to drive to. It's a big adjustment, but I am so happy Kathleen (Kate) was able to retire and to move to a place where there is so much to do. I am hoping to be able to do the same....probably a few years away from that though.

I have been looking around some of the teams and forums on SP and I must say that this team is so welcoming and friendly....I am looking forward to getting to know you, and to letting you get to know me, as we share this weight loss/health/fitness journey.

Hello everyone. Surgery knocked me for a loop. I didn't think so that first day. I gave myself a break from almost everything for a little over a week. But I am back now.

I like the way this group feels like a neighborhood...I plan on being a good neighbor and getting to know you. Karen and I are trying again next week for our postponed lunch get together. Looking forward to it.

Back at the gym yesterday. My plan is to get myself there at least three times a week and do five miles on the stationary bike and a mile on the track each time. Cannot get back in the pool for another few days yet, but I am looking forward to that, too.

Taking my soon to be DIL to Painting With a Twist tomorrow night...a little wine and a bird of paradise painting. My sister Kristine is the painter, not me, so I don't have great expectations for my end result. But I do expect it to be great fun.

My name is Kathleen and I retired to the central Texas Hill Country to live near my son.

Busy day. Even being retired I can honestly say I don't know where the time goes. Did 3 laps at the mall today and then a little shopping. Got myself two blouses although I didn't really need them. Hm. Managed to stick to my low carb eating plan. I really haven't been doing all that great so need to get more disciplined. Don't want any pounds creeping back on. Hope everyone has a great evening...

I now have all the painting done for this project in the house. Tomorrow I will put everything back in its place and do some housecleaning. I also got 14 more pints of green beans canned today. That is all the green beans I will be canning this year so the rest will be eaten fresh or given away. Tomatoes will be next however DH usually does the canning of those. I just have to stay out of his way while he is in the kitchen working. When we take dad back for the funeral Saturday my cousin is going to give me a recipe for canning vegetable soup. She gave it as Christmas gifts to her kids last year so I think I may do that this year myself.

Has anyone ever worn a copper bracelet for joint pain? My DH has been wearing one and says it helps with his wrist and shoulder pain. I orderd myself one to see if it will help with my hand/thumb/wrist pain. Iíll let you know if it helps.

Nomi: Let us know about the movie and dinner. I'm not a grandmother but I certainly understand your gratitude.

Kay: I have my "pile of pants"... I have so many, mostly too tight at the moment. But, I still catch myself looking at new ones. I have to say: Stop! Hope I don't say it out loud when in stores but...maybe I do!
I really want to add a bunch of them to my giveaway things but can't seem to do it. Oh, well...there are worse things in the world.
Anyway: good luck...
