Just checking in. I will be at Katsucon as well. Maybe I will see you. I should not be hard to find me and my wife are cosplaying as Wash and Zoe from the series Firefly. Then there is the formal ball on Saturday where we will be dressed in modern formal wear not formal steampunk like I had mentioned earlier

I wanted to get a picture of me wearing my bodysuit before I change it into a muscle suit... and I think I've made one of those cringy super bad cosplay pictures. If you REALLY want to see it and are not afraid of a bit of cringe, here's the pic: http://i65.tinypic.com/24178d5.jpg

This is even more motivation for me to lose weight, even the little that I can before Katsucon. I guess I should have joined NEOMATTLAC at the gym tonight. I also wanted to work more on my muscle suit, but looks like I'm going to need a second person for that.

Good day. Thursdays are my late start day, but I had a bunch of work for my lab, so I had to get up early. I kept hitting snooze until I basically only had an extra hour to do that work. So I dragged myself up and checked my email, just in case. One email stated that one of my classes were cancelled due to flooding and electric outages. In my mind I thought "perhaps it was just that one building. I know it's not the most waterproof, despite being one of the newest ones." So, just in case, I go check online to the school's facebook page. Turns out the campus is closed for the aforementioned reason. SWEET! So I got to be lazy today. Also, was about to do my massive pile of homework that I thought was due tomorrow. And it's not due until next Saturday! The other class that usually has HW between lectures also did not have homework. Yay for me!

A way I make the salads more appealing and interesting is by adding a protein source to the greens. Sometimes the protein source is a slice of cheese or deli meat. I also add a few nuts to mix things up. A hard boiled egg is also good.

That is essentially my story as well. If I cut out bread, pasta, and sugar, I'm going to lose weight. I was able to get down to 209 a couple years ago for Otakon by doing that.
Exercise: Ha, ha! Yeah, pretty much every unhealthy thing about me can be cured by a healthy diet and regular exercise. I can talk all I want, but nothing is going to happen if I don't actually do anything!
Salad: I did that for two days and both days I went below my calorie range. And the last two days when I didn't eat salad I went over slightly. I need to but some more greens for salads and cooking.

The secret to losing weight is there is no secret to losing weight. I lost over 16 pounds in 3 to 4 month period by cutting my bread and refined sugar intake. That was 2 years ago. I have gained some of it back so I am up about 9 to 10 pounds from my lowest weight. My biggest addiction is sodas. ( a source of refined sugars as you are well aware especially since you are studying to be a Dietician. Exercise is good for you for other reasons besides helping you to lose weight. I would not over do the exercise just for the sake of losing weight. My personal experience has taught me that eating significantly less that what you may used to be eating helps more than exercise. I try to exercise daily but it is usually just walking. Eating only a modest sized salads with little to no dressing instead of a sub or sandwich is also helpful for losing weight. Good luck with your quest to lose weight

Man, I always feel bad when I see that, that I was 220 lbs a year ago. I'm over 240 lbs now. I REALLY need to lose some weight. I'm going to renew my motivations today. I already have a goal of 180 lbs by Otakon. If I don't make that then I will not be going. That is a really big deal for me.

I know what you mean about parents hoarding sweets and junk food.
Every time I visit my mom, she is stacked. Not to mention she always eats out. Super difficult but I push through because I cant afford to slip up now.

Do you not have a scale there? Honestly I like taking measurements more because muscle will weigh more, but if I measure myself I will notice that I am losing inches instead of pounds.

I actually managed to get my weight up to over 220 lbs over the holidays. That was when I was living at my parents' during the holidays. They keep plenty of sugary snacks around, even if they don't realize it. Now that I am back at the university, I have cracked down on my nutrition and I will be trying to slowly add regular exercise into my life, aside from walking to school every day. I am unsure how I would be able to check my weight though. I guess I'll have to do that at the Katsucon hotel!!

Gained a few pounds and currently at 209. Grrr... I need to get to 195 and eventually 175!! Kicking myself in the butt because it is obviously my own fault for gaining weight after doing so well for so long.

Just got to a few marks recently: made it under 210 lbs, which means halfway done with weight loss and no longer obese. Finished my degree at CSM, now transferred into a Dietetics program. Now a size XL shirt and a size 38 pants.

BUSYMOM911 - Not really too much extra energy. I do feel a little bit more "able" though.

So, SLAPTHEFATCAT, inquiring minds want to know. Are the costumes done? Are you excited for Otokon?

Pre-Reg starts Thursday at 3PM. (although I will be at the Matsuri watching 2 grossly overweight men throwing themselves at each other.0 ... Hey, what a positive thing for Sparkers. If we thought we were overweight, we dwarf beside those Sumo wrestlers.
LOL.

Read your blogs! Good for you. Congrats. You have used such discipline in your diet. I bet you have more energy, too!

Got my Superboy wig and contacts. Now I have to style the two wigs I have now and make Goku's costume/ I still have a bit more than that, but those are my current concerns.

I actually kept up and went beyond for the push-up challenge, with totaling over 2000 push-ups for the month. Now I am onto a crunch challenge, with 50/day, but I will be keeping up with the push-ups as well. Although we can do whatever variation of crunches, I am opting for oblique crunches.

Started doing a push-up challenge on Facebook through a cosplay fitness group and it's gotten me to certainly refocus on making myself healthier and more fit. The challenge is to do 50 push-ups a day for the month of May. I have yet to actually get 50 push-ups in a day because I tend to do stuff all at once. But today, I am at 35 push-ups, which even beats my first day's record of 30. Also, I went for a mile walk and have done 10 squats with a 70-lb barbell (which is making my leg cramp right now. Should have done some bodyweight squats first to warm up). Also, I have doing my best to eat as healthy as possible, as it's been fairly consistent so far (minus the tortilla chips my parents bought).

Wow, it took me nearly two whole months to respond to this. Sorry about that. Yeah, I've been to an exercise panel at Otakon, when I was expecting a normal informative panel... it was not fun and I left within ten minutes. I played congos in a percussion group for a few months when I was a kid, does that count? LOL.
Yeah, it was my first panel. I liked it a lot, and can't wait to improve it and do it more often! If I can get more to my ideal body type, I would like to do it at Otakon. In 4 years, I will actually be able to say I AM qualified to give out the information, as I am transferring into a dietetics bachelor's program, eventually to a Master's program, and with that I will be getting a personal trainer certificate.

Wish I had known you were running that panel. It could have fit into our schedule. I noticed it (7:15-8:30), but thought the same name as the team was a coincidence. Since it was early, I thought it was more of an exercise panel. DH and I worked out at the Taiko drumming class at 9:00 and the Soran Bushi panel at 10:30, both by Chin Hamaya. We saw them at NekoCon, and were hooked. Bought my Dh a drum from China for Christmas.

Was this the first panel you hosted? Did you like it? Are you going to try any others at other conventions? Otokon?

Trying to get everything together for DragonCon ourselves. We were on the phone an hour before the hotel blocks opened up...and they still sold out before we got someone at front desk! We USED to be able to get a room. *laughs.* But when a con swells from 25,000 people a year to around 50,000 to 80,000...rooms sell quickly. But we've found two hotels that we like to frequent ten minutes from Peachtree Center, so we're good. I usually start early with getting the packing list ready, planning out food for the trip, burning the road music discs, and looking online for sites/supplies for my costumes. Got the links, now just need to get the lists and lose the weight to pull the costumes off. :)

I still have that pair of leather pants in my closet screaming how much they miss me wearing them...

Hi mina-san! I'm bored, so I thought I'd post here. How is everyone doing? I'm good. ^.^ Been moving this past week. My dad bought a house so we finally moved out of our tiny one bedroom apartment. It's nice having a permanent address again after so many years of living like a nomad. And I can finally unpack all of my manga. I'm still slowly getting my tv and game systems set up in my room. I have just enough space to play DDR in my room. And I talked my dad into getting me a Hello Kitty comforter/sheet set. ^.^ It's awesome.

I will when Otakon 2014 comes around. I want to start to look like him physically before I actually make the cosplay. Besides, I have a lot of weight to lose before then, so there WILL be a size difference.
