I always go back to the primary source! Because I never need motivation to read, only to write, if I just reread my primary source document I often become inspired all over again. It's much easier than staring at a blank screen. Or, alternately, a change of scene sometimes works. I go to the cafe or library. But take all of this with a grain of salt, for I am the world's most egregious procrastinator!! Fo' serious - I should be writing right now!

Hey howdy there!

I'm mentally quite busy lately, just brainstorming all kinds of interesting stuff, jotting down notes to take care of it all later, only to drag it back out.

Then I have a short reponse journal due Tuesday on Frederick Douglass' narrative, and my mind blanks. Granted, it could be because its the first assignment of the semester for me and its been a year since i've written one of these things, but i have my old copies (with corrections and teachers notes--bit of a pack rat that way) to look at and go on with. I've read the narrative, and done some highlighting and brief notes, and read extra stuff to help out, but its like i just can't bring myself to start the paper (and i know i'll be editing and editing at least a day)

i could probably get this done in a day, and I want to because i've got a bake sale to work all day tuesday and who knows if i'm working monday, so i wanna get it done tomorrow. i'm even drinking hot tea, and wearing my fleece pants and fuzzy slippers (and my history club shirt for luck...i think its lucky, anyway). I still just can't shut my brain off from all this other stuff (though usually i can once i jot things down for the "do later" pile--not working today.

ugh, i'm gonna try some meditation in a little while, but it feels painfully like i'm stalling, i guess because i've got something major going on in over 90% of my days til March...not counting work. I'll try meditating, but how do you guys get yourselves working on that paper you have to have done and focused good and quick. I'm not hungry so i'm not eating to help stall (thank goodness), but i'm just not there. How do you get in the zone (and i'd better think fast, because dad'll be home soon and there's no way I could concentrate then!--at least I've got Sunday if I'm smart!)

sheesh, see how long this was--even when asking for help i'm stalling. Gah!
