it went alright as far as getting a response (and finally questions answered about that DMS degree plan i was wondering about), and a very productive meeting. wish the secretaries had the information necessary--half the time they don't because the professors keep their phones off the hook so as not to be disturbed

I just wish they'd post the office hours for the whole faculty on the school website so if you need to find one or talk to them, it makes it easier to schedule an appointment (i know it changes each semester, but it'd be helpful for those of us NOT in their classes at the moment--ugh)

If you are still running into trouble, I would contact the department secretary. S/he may know the best method of contacting an individual professor and may be able to give you a lot of the preliminary information you need.

well a few minutes ago i got a response from the 2nd one i tried with e-mail (yay for prompt and polite!) half the time they're never in their office, though this one's the leader of the program, so it makes sense she'd be in there more often. but when i did pop by, you couldn't get past the firewall of a receptionist to save your life, so i just backtracked it and did e-mail, like everybody suggests. her office hours weren't posted, either, so it made it tough to figure out.

but next Monday i'll get some answers, hopefully, so maybe it'll work out--otherwise i'll have to run this gauntlet again--gah!

Hi there!

Normally I'd say call because busy professors make a habit of not responding to email but it sounds like you are already doing that. Do any of these individuals you are trying to get in touch with have an office? You might try popping by a couple of times.

Good luck!

hey howdy!

I'm having some major issues trying to get in touch with people who run a new degree program that i'd love more info in (after all, if its not gonna point me in the direction or give me the expertise i need to go there, i don't need to get onboard). I mean, they never are at their phones (or leave the phones at busy so you can't get through), and I left an e-mail a week ago for one and never got a response. i left one last night for the degree plan head with the same contact info and the times i could definitely be available in the next couple of weeks, with my e-mail and phone number (cell phone, at least they can leave a message if i'm stuck subbing and can't answer--my e-mail's blocked at the high schools).

I've never talked with these instructors before, never had them in a class or whatever, so i don't have a rapport with them. is there any ideas you guys have as far as getting in touch with them and getting a response? i wanna know more about this so i can stamp/redo my budget and CPS while there's time to make choices and changes.
