Good for you! You've got to be ecstatic! What a relief, right?

I passed my NYS ESOL Certification exam. I have one more test that I have to take on April 10.

Let's hear it for success! Congrats again!

Of course nobody looks forward to tests. Who likes tests? No matter how much smaller they appear to be than someone elses's, they are still a big deal. I have to take 3 for the NYS Certification Exam and though they are not the biggest deal in the world, they are still a big deal. I took 2 and I'm taking 1 more next month. I'll be happy when they're done. 2 tests is still not fun, but you're handling it. In the meantime, good luck everybody!

And I thought my testing was bad! My comps are in 2 weeks and I'm freaking out. It's two days of testing, 4 hours per day, with the first being a "general topics" essay test and the second day being a "specialty topic" essay test. Then a few weeks later, I have my oral defense.

But having 4 exams instead of 2 makes me feel like a total wimp!

Best of luck to all!!!

Congratulations! Yeah, that has got to feel fabulous! I hope you are going to do something special for yourself, pamper yourself and/or celebrate in some way, because you deserve it! No matter now you do, you worked extraordinarily hard and you owe yourself something really good. Anyway, good for you with the half-marathon training. To be honest with you, if I didn't exercise and eat right I'd be "toast" just about now. I would never be able to keep up with this monstrous work load!

Again, Super Congrats! You are so awesome!

I'm turning in my exam today...8 weeks, 75 pages (115 w/ reference, tables & figures) later. It feels so good to be done. Now it's all about the waiting.

BTW, I'm so happy that I kept training for my half-marathon during the exam. It was the secret to my sanity.

Good for you! Yeah, it's amazing how much that healthy lifestyle helps the work efforts. Changing my eating habits and exercising regularly (though it took more work, time and effort) has been paying me back immensely. Though stressed, I'm not quite the nervous wreck I used to be. So glad I've been treating myself better. Worth every second of the extra work. Good luck with your half marathon, by the way. That is really awesome! Good for you.

I'm hanging in there. We have 2.5 weeks left and I'm still hammering away. Right now, the goal is to finish up and get a "focused rewrite" which is very common. I know I can pass. It's all about staying focused and motivated through the end!

BTW, I started training for a half-marathon during my exam. Best idea I've had in some time since my long runs really clear my head.

An eight week exam?!?!?!? I had to take 4 written exams -each 6 or 8 hours over the course of 8 days, followed by an oral exam with all four professors. I was beyond stressed out. Just remember that your professors do not want you to fail (they are not out to get you) and you are totally capable of doing this. Just take it one day at a time. And I absolutely agree with Fastwalker - give yourself rewards for goals met along the way. Shoot, I'd hit the motivation section of Sparkpeople on a regular basis! emoticon
Good luck!!!!!!

Thanks. Sometimes the more we do, the better we feel. Hang in there. Reward yourself with something meaningful for your efforts. That's what I do now. Good luck.

Hi. I really wish you a lot of luck. Hang in there. Slow it down. Do your best.

My exams are different. I have to take three NYS exams to qualify to be an ESL Teacher. I took one but I have 2 more to go. They're not horrible but they're still stressful as heck.

Again, I just wish you the best of luck.

Hey folks,

Just checking to see if anyone else is in the process of taking their qualifying exams right now.

I'm in the midst of an 8 week writing period for my exam and am going crazy! I know I'm capable of finishing the exam, but am finding the process to be emotionally draining. I actually broke into tears this week between the stress of the exam, attending a memorial service for a faculty member, and just trying to deal with real life.

If anyone has words of wisdom for quals, I'd greatly appreciate it. Right now, my goal is a complete the exam and get a "focused rewrite." Anything is better than an outright fail!
