The holidays have been hard. I am ready to get back into the swing of classes, but also find it harder to get in exercise during the semester.

So far I have not been doing any better on break than I had before.. but I just set some new goals and hope to start exercising consistently and eating healthier again.

One thing I know I need to do is exercise early in the day, because as the day goes on I feel like I want to do it less and less. If I do it and get it out of the way early, I feel much better and feel like I have a better day.

Also I haven't done too good with this, but I know it helps to plan meals and snacks ahead of time. If I do that, I know how many calories I am allowed and have them spread out evenly throughout the day. If I don't do that, I find myself eating whatever I see without giving it a second thought. I have more of a difficult time with eating right than I do with exercising. If only exercise was the main element in losing weight! Unfortunately food plays a part too..

I started last July, so I could focus on changing my habits and establishing a routine before the semester started. That helped. I also thought up various strategies before classes (workout schedule, cooked and froze individual portions of healthy foods, etc.). For the most part, I made it through and kept making progress.

Today is the 3rd day of my winter break from classes. I am happy to have a break and my lifestyle has been so much more healthy the past three days. I have made time for exercise and I have eaten much more healthy.

I hope to keep some of these changes in the next semester, but I worry that I will not have the time.

How is everyone break going? Has anyone else found they are healthier on the break? And if so, what tricks do you suggest for keeping up this good streak?
