this is always a struggle.. feel confident that you will get through though. when you get there in the fall you will have other people to support you and help you learn. i LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE my cohort, we aren't going to leave anyone behind :)

I'm part of a universe of possibilities, I'm capable of more than I know. The power of God, the power of love, the power of doing my best until it is something greater than I have ever imagined... this is what keeps me focused on my goals!

Find a study buddy quick. The most difficult part of the PhD process has been not connecting with a kindred spirit who is also struggling. You need constant reassurance that you can get through the next hurdle. Just know we all feel/have felt your pain.

Wishing you the best, blessings, and peace in your spirit.

I have been working on my dissertation proposal off and on all summer. I am hoping to defend it in the fall, but I am not feeling as driven as I was before (I am on my 5th or 6th draft).

Good luck everyone!

Dorthy,

I completely understand your frustration. I took my second (and final) statistics course during the summer one session and wanted to die. It was the hardest class I've ever taken. To keep down the anxiety, I got into a study group with other students in the class who were going through the same frustrations. It really helped to have someone to call at 1 in the morning and ask for help on a problem. Luckily we all survived! Just keep fighting through it and you'll find the light at the end of the tunnel. You can do it!!!

I'm sorry to hear you are having difficulty with your assignment. I don't have any summer work but classes start for me August 25.

I struggled my way through basic chemistry and biology classes.. so I don't have any advice. I guess the main thing is to try and not get over anxious about it, they are probably just trying to introduce you to the topics ahead of time and once you actually start class things will be explained further.

Good luck! emoticon

I start a PhD program late this August. I'm in compsci, but the program requires a lot of biology/biochemistry, so to get us up to speed, they sent us a summer reading assignment that I'm struggling with. The 2nd chapter of the biology textbook was so chemistry heavy I've had to start reading a chem book on the side and I'm starting to feel overwhelmed and anxious.

Anyone else struggling with summer work?
