Wow, under 60 minutes! That's quite the pass you maintained. You should be proud of yourself -- losing weight and getting fitter. That's what this is all about, right?

Good on ya!

Thanks! The race went really well and I came in with a time under 60 minutes. Looking forward to seeing my official time later today.

Congrats FILIAULT! You've done a great job with all of your goals.

We started this thread right at the end of my term. My weight has been in flux since I've been traveling and don't have a consistent schedule. But, I'm trying to create more structure which I think will keep more more on track with my food. As for exercise, I think I'm doing pretty well there. I'm running my first 10K this Sunday and feel good about the race.

Cheers!
Rosie

Guess we sort of lost track of this thread over time. But, since the month's nearly over, here's how I did.

*Weight is 80.9 kg ... so I really exceeded my goal!
*Finished the article today (horray!!!!)
*Wrote 3,300 words of the methodology, and my supervisors accepted it
*Only went over my calorie range twice
*Sodium was still the big issue. I'm aware of it, but still having problems.

How did you ladies do with your goals?

Congratulations on finishing another year!

Congrats you two on finishing, or being close to finishing, your academic years! Sorry to hear you were sick Priestess -- be sure to be good to yourself and get better!

My progress so far is generally good. I've kept to my calorie goal every day, but sodium has been the major issue. I've only been under my sodium allowance twice so far this month.

Academics are coming along -- I've actually written 3,100 words of my methodology section and my supervisors actually liked it ... Whoo hoo!! I have an outline of the article completed, but am lacking motivation to actually just write the darned thing. Gah!

Vacations are sneaky things. But hey, good job on not gaining.

I didn't so much fall of the wagon as I got pushed off of it by a cold. I'm feeling stressed and I think my immune system is suffering. I have not been watching my food (but I haven't been eating much either) or exercising, and I haven't cracked open a book to do research in a couple days now. I'm trying to remember that I need to take care of my sick body right now, but those papers are coming due and I feel so behind! At least my final project for Preaching was last week, and now I can focus on my other classes.

And now, some hot tea.

Happy to have you FILIAULT!

Well, I finished my academic work for the year and am now onto summer research. Just finished a conference proposal with my research team, so hopefully it will get accepted.

As for fitness, I fell off the wagon a bit when I was on vacation in Mexico. I got in some activity, but there was plenty of eating as well. Weighed myself when we got back and I'm happy to say I didn't gain any weight.

Guess I'm a little late to this thread, but better late than never, right?

My goals for May:

HEALTH:
Stay in my calorie range 6 days a week
Stay under 2300 mg of sodium 5 days a week
Walk 30 minutes every day
Gym 4 times a week for an hour
Be down to 85 kg by the end of the month

ACADEMICS:
Write 1500 words of the theory chapter for my dissertation
Finish this article I've been working on since January (eep!)

If I can manage all that in May I would be ecstatic.

Today:
Stayed in calorie range, but over on sodium
Walked 30 minutes, hour at the gym
Read a bit of literature for my theory chapter, but no progress on the article

That's awesome PRIESTESS! I've been having a funky week as well. Definitely off track with my calories, this week. Stress eating is not my friend! I worked out 4 times this week, but wasn't feeling as strong as usual. Think it was the sleep deprivation!

As for school, I'm done with two classes and all my work. I've also caught up on research. emoticon

I still have a paper, presentation, and a final all before Tuesday night so it is going to be a long, lon weekend.

Well, my food's been wacky and I keep getting sidetracked from big projects by the daily grind of schoolwork, but I am on fitness fire! emoticon

Over 1400 calories burned this week. I started listening to the Hairspray soundtrack on my iPod, and I cannot stop moving! I feel great! At least as long as I don't look at the pile of books for my research papers. emoticon

I had a pretty good day yesterday. Got in 40 min treadmill and 30 min strength training. I also ate well and stayed in my calorie range. I did eat a small piece of chocolate late at night, but one piece is better than a whole candy bar which is what I was craving!

With regards to school, I worked a TON on research yesterday and let my history paper sit on the back burner. I plan to attack it tonight though!

Wow Rosie, you end early! Good luck in this last week.
Well, I had a marvelously productive day, academically speaking. I'm totally prepared for class tomorrow, got some writing done, and found some additional resources for my final feminist biblical interpretation paper.
My healthy living, well, wasn't healthy at all. I think I ate more junkfood today than I have all month. I skipped lunch, so I hit the vending machine during class, and then just made bad food choices the rest of the day. I haven't had a drop of water. NOT a good day.
I did get 30 min. of aerobics in, and we had a beautiful day here in Chicago, so I walked everywhere.
Just have to shoot for a better day tomorrow!

Well, it's that time of year again. The end of the semester/school year and enough books to read, papers to write and finals to take to give a person heart failure.

During this home stretch, I find that nothing gets done because I'm trying to get everything done, from papers to weekly readings, as well as trying to stay healthy.

If anybody else is interested, I'm hoping to get a "Home Stretch Challenge" going. We can encourage each other, help each other set realistic goals, as well as posting on Spark to keep ourselves accountable, both academically and physically. A group of us did this at the end of last semester and it was phenomenal!

Just post your goals for this last month (or two, if you're in school until June) and let's do this thing! Looking forward to having your company on this journey.
~Meredith

My Health Goals:
Stay within daily calorie range.
Burn 1300 calories/week
Drink 8 glasses of water per day

My Academic Goals:
50 pgs. of reading
1 hr. of research
1 page of writing
Every Day
