Fri 6/29 OUCH!!! 83carbs but 33fibers 24% of my 1319 calories

Had an adkin's endulge bar that really satisfied the craving for a sweet though and feel better for having it! Not an every day thing but OK for an occasional bit of fun in life!

Spent a lot of time studying diabetes today in relation to how many carbs and when best to eat them and how to check with blood glucose testing in addition to the morning fasting sugars ...Hmmm lots to absorb and then debate how to apply it to my life situation.

47carbs but 20 of them are fiber - 14% of my 1269calories for the day...

Hungry for chocolate today so had two doses of Dk Chocolate.... but finding ways to keep the carbs low in that as well. Bit by bit - day by day.

Living nd learning - not getting it all recorded daily

Saturday 48 carbs for 17%of 1074 calories did get in 17 fibers ...the daily chia seed portion is helping that be more consistent fiber along with in season berries but blood sugars have been a bit higher - may be due to med change for fibro. and more sleep for that recuperation.

Tuesday - 23carbs = 12% of 790calories [goal was 1200 for the day]

Am keeping the calories down but too low - I need to get them up higher on alternate days - I have trouble getting calories up without raising carbs - still fighting 60++ years of being told to keep fats low - but even though I enjoy some fats - I still want fruit and that is where the carbs are hard to keep down -

SO looked up nut butters... almond peanut, sunflower seed and they come close to 100 calories/Tbsp with 7-9fats, 1-1.5Saturated fats and 2-4proteins...so they are an option IF ONLY 1 TABLESPOON... Hmmmm Need to think on this!

Monday - Day one on fibromyalgia meds - had 4 good hours of sleep last night but kind of dopey today - I know it takes a few days for this to all balance out - trusting I will be functioning well by Thursday so I can help husband at Farmer's Market.

Low cal day [goal is 500 cal M-W-F ] went over but not fretting - learning towards good health.
27 carbs = 16% 0f the 670calories

Sunday - day three of the terrible aches , fever, nausea, dizzy 'crud' - nothing tastes good or normal but I continue eating about 750 cal. just to maintain strength and focus and "normality". Have been on the couch or in bed most of those three days. hoping to get back to routine low key activities tomorrow as I have a social obligation Tues...that I don't want to miss

Teresa, I found that when I started cutting carbs, adding some healthy fats - MCT oil, some mayo and some avocado helped with feeling full and also got the calories up to the expected "macro level"

Enjoying salads again after the 5 day egg fast - but I have a new awareness of carbs and think I might be more successful. Tomorrow will be final eval of weights and back to general low carb for diabetic control going to lower the goal to 30-40g for this week, also going to keep checking macros, saturated fats and might do a week of recording cholesterols too just to see where I am in that battle - not going to concentrate on dietary cholesterol but just kind of curious where I am with it.

My thoughts on MY EGG FAST. I followed the guidelines pretty close - did add my Tbsp of Chia seeds daily and Tsp of Metamucil or psyllium powder each day which added carbs but not net carbs and "kept me regular"
.I did not expect huge losses like some have because my diet was already pretty strictly regimented and kind of gentle keto-oriented though not as low of carbohydrates.
I will weight each of the three days afterward and then show that result next Monday.
Things I feel I learned:
1. How it fees to truly NOT be hungry on several days and Thursday and Friday in particular.
2. Though a little high percent of daily saturated fats - I feel it was still fairly heart-stent friendly at right around half of my fats each day being saturated.
3. I was very pleased with lack of hunger and cravings [with exception of Wednesday morning] - I wanted Chocolate but it was loneliness for a friend rather than frantic craving as I have experienced in the past.
4. I still love eggs, but the beef paddy for dinner tonight was sure good!!! Was were salad greens!
5. I would do this again - maybe once a month at the most - not sure it will work well with our summer schedule of living though I definitely see this as a potential for the week after a vacation to get back into good control mode. I see it as a solidly healthy week for me and my level of medical needs, health goals and style of living.

Day 5 Egg Fast [low carb effort for PRE-DIABETES : 11carbs for 4% of 1167 calories 5 fibers so 6 Net Carbs]
B - Pint Green tea with slice ginger, .5TbspMCT and stevia
2 scrambled eggs in butter with 2 oz Gouda cheese
L - Pint special Iced tea [oolongtea/ACV/Stevia/vanilla]
1 boiled egg 1oz cheddar stick
D - Pint water with 1Tbsp chia seeds and Zerocalorie syrup
2 boiled egg, chopped with 2Tbsp Mayo and 2tsp mustard and 2 gouda cheese slices.
Pint Special iced tea - same as morning
Not hungry today and bored with food - just not interested in making fancy recipes even though I have them ready to use.
Interesting that the terminology of eating to fuel our body has really been true for me today - I was eating to fuel me - not to meet taste desires or social timing or event.
I AM wanting some good dark chocolate and planning to have some for breakfast with my transition meals.

Day 4 Egg Fast
[low carb effort 21carb = 6% of 1375cal. w/12fibers= 9 NET carbs]
Morning tea with 1Tbsp Ghee instead of MCT - pretty good!!
B - 2 scrambled eggs in butter with 2 oz Gouda cheese slices
Pint water with chia seed and ZeroCalorie blueberry syrup
Sn - 1 boiled egg - 1Tbsp mayo - I oz cheddar cheese stick
Pint Homemade Mocha with iced coffee, cocoa protein powder, vanilla, stevia
Sn - I boiled egg - 1 mozzarella stick
Pint water with fresh lemon juce and stevia and ice
D - 2 boiled eggs - 1 Tbsp butter - [wanting to change up deviled eggs a bit] Felt good on chapped lips from sunburn!!!
This was first Farmer's Market day for us and I forgot about sun screen so cheeks and lips are pretty sunburned. Did well physically with planned foods and liquids - sold all the big salad cucumbers, rhubarb and hydroponic leaf lettuce that we took. Good to be back with our "Marketing family" and customers. Using one sixteenth tsp. of sea salt in each pint of liquids for electrolytes - sweating a bit extra outside in heat and wind - will have extra pint of electrolyte water at bedside if I need it during the night for leg cramps. Yup, needed it at 2am.

Egg Fast Day TWO
[For Lowering Carbs efforts : 15 carbs =5% of 1156 cal. and 9fibers=6net carbs and my chart says 1 carb per egg! ]
My food included 8 glasses water + 6 cups dilute tea/GGMS; .5Tbsp MCT, 6 eggs, 2oz goat cheese, 1 oz cheddar cheese, 1 tbsp. butter, .5Tbsp coconut oil, 2Tbsp Mayo, 1 Tbsp chia seed, .5Tbsp psyllium powder, 1 Tbsp chia seed, stevia sweetener in tea, meds and supplements.
B - 1pint of tea with 1/2Tbsp MCT
one recipe of egg-fast-pancakes [saved two for lunch] cooked in .5Tbsp coconut oil with drizzle of zeroCal chocolate syrup
L - boiled egg with mayo, 2 oz goat stick w/2 saved pancakes
D - 2egg omelet with .5oz cheese
I am intermittent Fasting 6pm to 8am =14 hours which is my usual pattern . Feeling good - no hunger today but really wanted beef pattie when fixing hubby's dinner!!!

Day 1 of egg fast 9carbs =3% of 1111clories on first day of egg fast
Looking over the nutrition break down - am thinking this might only be a few days -3 or 4 in stead of 6 I was thinking - too many sat fats and no citrus to help liver with it - hmmmm may just add lemon to my water jug??? gotta check the # of carbs. Already added my one Tbsp of chia seeds which has 5 carbs but also 5 fibers so net carb 0 for that add. Sparks says eggs have sone carb where a lot of other counters say none????

Will see how the other parameters show - like sleep, congestive heart symptoms or inflammation

My food included 17 cups of water, diluted tea; 6 eggs, 2.5oz cheddar cheese, 1 tbsp. butter, 2.5Tbsp Mayo, 1 Tbsp chia seed, stevia sweetener in tea meds and supplements.

My day was a little heavy in carbs and calories - working at keeping it under 40 this week, and today was supposed to be 500 cal. LOW CAL DAY in my plan ....living and learning
Was close but really hungry so had a protein bar and went way over

46 carbs is 22% of 791 calories

46 carbs is more than I want but also trying to figure out what I am willing to give up in different situations - a lot of it is learning to be prepared for hungries and needs when out of our home setting and routine - Today I went to town and was gone longer than planned and ate a protein bar to fill tired, hungry and aching legs/feet ....too many carbs! So I either learn a safer choice of bar that is easily available or in my bag or take other foods EVERY time I leave the house!!!

46 carbs = 19% of 958 calories with 54 fat and 1/2 of them saturated is good # on fats Coming close to parameters set by cardio - carbs still a little high.

28 carbs is 21% of my low caloried day of 504calories.

Blood sugars are stabilizing close to 100 and I want to lower them but seem to need to go down slowly and consistently. So am content at 34-40 for a week or so more before I try to go lower or maybe not need to go lower! I do love my berries and don't want to give them up if I don't have to!!!

Sat. 37carbs = 17% 0f 886calories with only 8fibers so 29NET CARBS

Am succeeding in keeping carb # lower but not succeeding in alternate day calories of 500 and 1200 to keep my body in changing gears and not go into resistance. But with totals down and fasting blood sugars down to 102 maybe I can do the calories next week and begin to bring it all together to lose a few pounds...I keep learning the plans - it is time to succeed!!!

Sunday - I don't track on Sundays...just rest!

Wed. - had special gluten free treat with daughter but still kept it at 50!!!
50 carbs = 19% of 989 calories and only 8 fibers so 42net CARBS

Wednesday is usually a low calorie day but company changed that and so just tried to stay in range and succeeded

Was a fairly comfortable day but wanting sweets tonight - Ice water is not meeting the need! But the I.F. goals is helping me resist temptation. All these goals work together!!!

Sunday and the fasting blood sugar was back up - so decided I am going to lower my max to 40grams carbs and also track the net carbs and try to get fiber higher - not sure how but gotta try!!!! So today 25 carbs were 8% of my 1324calories and 14 net carbs

Friday - after gain on scales and Fasting blood sugar up - got mad and sad and determined to stick to Down Day in calories and did8carbs = 7% of 487calories...

Going to get brutal in eliminating carbs for several days - protein and water and one tiny serving of low carb veggie per meal

Frustrated when I opened riced cauliflower and sweet potato totally enjoyed one carefully measured cup and found it was 11 g carb!!!! Grrrr - what are you-all using for low carb veggies - I have given up fruits except for berries and still not winning this battle.

Goofed and read the label on a gluten free snack incorrectly enjoyed it then when I went to enter it got a shock - but I am content to have enjoyed a snack that did not make me sick gluten- wise, was a real treat and not intentional rebellion ..Attitude counts a lot for my healing processes!!! Will be interesting to see the bed time blood sugar though!!!

Edit - the bedtime blood sugar was good - but morning scales were up one# emoticon
