I come from the other side of the road on this one. I've always been small chested (between an A and B in high school) and it wasn't until I gained weight and had my son that I got into a C cup. My chest is the first place I lose weight and my hip area is the last place I loose it, so I perpetually look like I'm caught in a tire swing or look like a pear!

Ideally I would like to stay a C cup, but that may not happen without surgical help! lol

If it's amazing, it won't be easy. If it's easy it won't be amazing. If it's worth it you won't give up. If you give up you're not worth it.

I think the ideal is determined by your frame and your genetics. I have been large all of my life and even if the band size goes down and my cup size goes down I am still a fairly large cup size. Also, it depends on the bra and the manufacturer and if they are sized in the european sizing, which many American companies are going to, your cup size can differ. Always get the right fitting bra! Most women wear the wrong size band to get a smaller cup. Also, some of the newer bras aren't being made with a true "cup" but with a bigger triangular piece of fabric that flattens rahter than supports. I found that to be true with SOMA bras and they weren't supposed to be minimizers which oush the breast into the armpit.

My band size started at 38 and now I'm a 32, close to a 30 (which puts me in a yucky position of not being able to find bras).

As for the cup, once I actually started wearing the right size bra (went and had a proper fitting and everything), I was wearing a 32FF (that's a 32H in US sizing... apparently once you get so big, you can only find UK sized bras... lol). That was back in November, since then, I have gone down to a 32E (or a 32DDD in US sizing) and I actually think I'm shrinking out of these bras too.

So apparently, for me, the boobs were the last to go, but they are definitely going!

I a ridiculous 38H right now and it's near impossible finding bras. I'd love to be a D or a DD because then I could buy bras in normal stores.

I don't think I can even hope to ever be a C again.

I think it has a lot to do with body chest size, higth, weight. I don't think I wanted to be a B cup when I need a size 18 otherwise and I don't like to be a DD when I otherwise would fit in a size 6.

Okay, Joce. Here's the scoop for me. In the beginning of my pregnancy I went into Lane Bryant. I told them I was a D. They told me that since my chest would grow in pregnancy it would be wise to get a DD. I agreed. But they didn't grow that much and then I was wearing a nursing bra (which was also a D). Then when I would go out and didn't want to wear a nursing bra I was trying to keep my D's in a DD bra and I hated how much extra padding there was. It was gaping open and left big dents poking out in the front of my shirt. When I went to Lane Bryant to get refitted the first thing the girl said to me, "honey, your bra is way too big - I can tell through your shirt."

She told me to try a C. I told her that I hadn't worn a C in.... I can't remember when. She said if you go up a band size (or 2) you can go down a cup size. Well, it worked. I went up a band size and the cup size (C) fit me awesomely :)
Then if I wore my normal band size I still wore my D. At least that way I had more options in bras. I now have a C and D and both fit well. Maybe ask someone about that at the store?????

C for me. I had a breast reduction in 2002 and I went down to a full C, but since I've gained about 40 lbs. since then I'm back up into D or, on rare occasions, DD. I've already lost 4" in the chest so I'm assuming they'll go back down to size once the weight comes off. I'd honestly even be satisfied if I ended up a B cup. I've been busty my entire life so my motto these days is the smaller the better (as long as they stay proportional).

LOL, I think I might always be in the "etc" crowd. Right now I'm 38F. I was wearing some 40DDD, but they didn't really fit right. After I started losing weight I could finally fit into 44Gs. I'm not sure what my highest bra size was because at my highest weight I was wearing some really stretched out 48s. I think they might have been the highest Lane Bryant went.

Right now I'm about to enter into a fuzzy zone of no-bra-land. If my breast cups stay filled, and I lose some more of the tender fat on my back and sides of my torso, I won't be able to find bras at Lane Bryant (or any of the plus sized stores, because my band size will be too small) and definitely not in regular stores, (because the cup requirement will be too big).

At the same time, a part of me is afraid to see them go because my life has been so overwhelmingly dominated by bountiful breasts (the first area of my body I loved, always loved, even when I didn't love the rest).

But I've GOT to be able to buy a bra (and try it on in a store)!! So maybe a D or DD. I can barely write just "D". Eek, I have issues. Haha!

My cup size never really fluctuates, just my band size. I'm almost always around a 36C and I'm happy here :)

I'm a 38DDD and I hate it. I'm only 5'0" so I'm all boob from the waist up. I was a C-cup at one point, and I could deal with that again.

38C-D-40C-D depending on the day, the bra, and how the girls are doing. Before kids I was a 32A...wow did it hurt getting those things in the one month that they grew...went from an A to a C in less than 4 weeks. None of my clothes fit and I wouldn't let my husband even come near me! Honestly I would love to get to about a 36C...I think that would be ideal to balance out the rest of my body.

I'd love to be a D. I started as a 48G and am currently a 40G. It's too weird to think of myself as a C cup, but that probably wouldn't be a bad thing, either.

I'm currently a C-D cup, depending on the brand. Some are cut bigger, some are cut smaller. The smallest I ever was was a 36B, and I LOVED it! I'm really looking forward to being that small again one day soon!

I have always been busty and in general, hefty. I started wearing a bra in 3rd grade. I am a 44DD to 46DD at the moment, which is consequently my heaviest weight also.

At my smallest, I was able to squeeze into a 38C, barely. But I think I would even be happy just being a 38D. I know my Huney would be, he likes T & A, and ample amounts of both (at least he understands why I don't, on me that is). emoticon

Given the choice of loving myself or hating myself, I hope to choose love.

I was an i at my highest. I'm naturally very busty; I was a C cup at 140lbs in the 7th grade! I think a C or a D is ideal

I am currently a 40DD, I would love to get down to a C cup, though not sure that will happen since the women in my family all tend to have larger cup sizes (36C is the ideal that lives in my mind).

At my highest I was like F or something like that. Now I am DDD. I guess my ideal would be C but I don't think I will get that small since I was DD when I thinner.

Ladybugxstitcher - Have you tried the Enell bras? they were on OPRAH! , they are this amazing sports bra for top heavy women. I use them when i work out, its almost like a shirt that you get strapped into, they have several clasps down the front that holds everything in. But they are not restrictive.

Like if i try anything without my enell i get hit in the face, but the enells hold those girls down!

At my highest weight I was never bigger than a 42C, and even when I had my son I was still a C! Usually when I lose weight the first place it leaves is my bust, smallest has been a 38B!

UGH! Bras... bane of my existence!

I was a 40DD at my highest.
Now at goal... check this out... I'm a 30D. Yeah, that's right... my band size generally means I have to special order. I can occasionally get in a 32D (never a C cup though! They just don't fit!)... but those are just about as hard to find as a 30D. I guess, ideally a 32C, because then I could find bras without special ordering.

Imperfection is important. If we were all perfect, then there would be no such thing as growth, and everyone would be extremely boring, which is, paradoxically, not that perfect.-- Dr. Matt

Now 2 years ago when i was at my lowest weight (314lb) i was a 42DDD, my girls are stubborn and dont want to go anywhere.

Now i like my girls, sometimes, but it is so hard to find good bras in my size. My girls have pretty much shattered every underwire that has tried to tame them. They walk into rooms before i do, and i swear some days (if im wearing a lower cut top) they try to shake peoples hands!

I dont know what size i would prefer to be, but it would be nice to be able to look down and see my shoes without having to go around the girls.

I am a 46DD - the largest bra size I have ever been. I am hoping to go back to a C. Before I had any children, I wore a 32B with lots of room, after the birth of my first child, I was a 38D. At my smallest post-pregnancy weight, I wore a size 12 and a 32 C . I would be very happy at that size, again :)

No surprise since I was already a DD when I graduated high school (weighing 125-140lbs) Since i'm use to ample girls, I would say for ME, 36D would be "ideal."

Ideally, I would love to be a C. You can get so many cute bra's in C. Not too small. RIght now, I see a chiropractor all the time. Putting my back out.

What do you think is generally an "ideal" bra size?

Note: I realize individual differences mean that no ONE size can be ideal. Just a general question though.

I get more confused about band size but just for cup size, I'd love to be a "C" again. Right now, D. Before, DD!! To me, that would be fantastic.
