I think the absolute minimum any human adult needs to survive and have adequate brain function is 1,000 calories a day at a minimum. Otherwise, check out the great article and info SP has and the others have shared a link for.

The power to change, the courage to do, the will and drive to be exceptional lies within me, and by leaving my fears, my doubts, and my excuses behind, I embrace all that lies within me.

I think you can also find it in the reports section here on spark people. If you have the mobile app its in the reports section there.

I think that's what they call your basal metabolic rate... there are a lot of calulators for that online..

I have a book at home as well that has the math for figuring that stuff out, I just can't remember what it's called at the moment.

Maybe this is my ADD kicking in, or just morbid curiosity-

I *know* 3500 calories = one pound
I *know* working out burns calories, and what I eat affects my weight loss...

But just out of morbid curiosity, and I *know* many factors come into play here, how many calories does the body need each day just to digest food, make my heart beat, walk to the bathroom, get out bed-how many calories does the body need to do just normal, every day stuff?
