I have to agree. I can do both and hold them for over a minute (would love to work up to five) but I find the modified planks harder than the real deal planks. So I wonder why they call the modified one "modified"? Is "modified" supposed to be easier? emoticon

All the time. If I am holding a modified on my elbows, I am in agony. I keep trying because I need a stronger core, but I am convinced that Planks are the Devil! emoticon

I had the same problem! Regular planks are sooooo much easier than modified planks. I wonder if it's because of my weight distribution. My top is heavier than my bottom, so maybe that has something to do with it?

Basically, imagine a push up, that you push up into and then hold the up position for a set period of time.

I have never done planks before so I decided to try both regular and modified today. The regular I held for 60 seconds and it was hard and my arms wanted to shake afterward, but I could do it. I did two, everything pulled in and without any fidgeting.

However, I tried to do the modified planks and I couldn't hold for more than 16 seconds. It made my shoulders, elbows, and ankles scream with pain.

Has anyone else had this issue?
