more importantly, YOU wait until you/re 130 and see what YOU think. :) that's the best feeling...knowing you accomplished a huge personal goal that you set for yourself and that was not imposed upon you by someone else...maybe some "urging" by your doctor. but you will feel so much better about yourself for yourself.

I have the no way answer when I tell people I am over 200...for some reason even though I am 5'2 I don't look my size. At 170 people didn't think I should lose anymore weight even though I was still clinically obese. I just keep thinking wait until I am 130 then tell me what you think!

I understand how you feel. If I get someone to guess my weight, they're easily 50 lbs low. I bascially carry it all in my stomach. I've got pretty nice legs, face and arms, and I'm good at diguising my weight with clothes.

But *I* know how much I have to lose, and I can't stand it.

Tortugapoco: I will definitely check into that. Do myself a little research and see what it's all about. Thank you for the suggestion!!! It'll do one of 2 things if I try it out...it'll work great, or it will do nothing.

Yes we do what is better for ourselves than anyone else does. Our opinion of ourselves is the only one that truly matters. Unfortunately, a lot of people have a problem realizing that fact and instead listen to everyone around them when it comes to their body image and they end up with an extremely unhealthy body image and low to non-existant self esteem. I mean, I have low self esteeem, but it's getting better...and my confidence in myself is improving little by little every day. And both of those help me out a lot. I've already lost 13 pounds in just 3 weeks, so that's a huge confidence booster (yea, it says 12 pounds lost on my ticker, but I randomly step on the scale thru-out the week and it went down another pound the day AFTER I weighed in this week...lol). I only have 25 pounds to go! And 25 isn't as big or as intimidating a number as 38, which was the original amount I needed to lose to be at a healthy weight again.

Good for you! I'm glad you're not letting anyone else's analysis of your body determine your own reactions. Usually it works the other way, where people criticize where there's nothing to criticize--but this is important, too! I had a lot of people not believe how big I was before I started losing, and dealt with a lot of people telling me not to diet because they didn't want to see me turn into one of "those people," or into a gym bunny. We know what's best for us better than anyone else!

Disclaimer: I'm not a doctor! However, you might look into an herbal supplement called Mastica, or Mastic Gum for the H. Pylori issues. It's from the bark of a Mediterranean tree, and it's been used for centuries as a food thickener and as a chewing gum.

The New England Journal of Medicine reported that Mastic Gum kills H. Pylori (citation: Huwez FU, Thirlwell D. Mastic Gum Kills Helicobacter pylori. N Engl J Med 1998; 339:1946, Dec 24, 1998.), and it is widely reported to have no negative side effects. Further animal studies since then have had varying results, however I am a believer, because it worked for me!

My doctor did not test to determine the cause of my ulcer, so I don't know for sure that it was H. Pylori. However, after a year on Protonix, the ulcer reoccurred every time I went off the medication. When my insurance ran out between jobs, I couldn't afford the prescription, so I tried Mastic Gum. (Besides, there are negative side effects from being on Protonix, Nexium, etc for too long, which didn't appeal to me.) THE MASTIC GUM WORKED! I have been ulcer free for 2 years now, after having taken the Mastic Gum capsules for about 6 months.

THANKS! I know I picked the best team EVER when I joined DONE. I realized that obvious fact within the first 24 hours after clicking that "join this team" button...lol. I love it. And, yes, I've gotten the whole, "don't be going anorexic now" reaction from a LOT of people when I tell them I want/NEED to lose weight...especially when they find out how much I'm planning to lose. I started with a goal of 38 pounds and am now down to only 25 pounds to go (WOOHOO!!!!). After I tell a lot of people how much I want to lose, they get that weird look on their face and they're like, "how much do you weigh?" And when I would tell them that I weighed almost 200 pounds, they were always like "bullsh**!!" and never believed me. Whatever, I was the one SQUEEZING myself into a size 15. I was the one that was so lethargic I couldn't stay awake longer than 10 hours without needing a nap. I was the one that didn't have anything to wear because nothing I owned fit me anymore. And I was the one crying when I couldn't get my favorite jeans to zip up, or when I put on a cute shirt and my tummy stuck out and jiggled like a mountain of jello under the front of my shirt.

Congrats on taking the big step to lose weight!! I can TOTALLY relate to the "skinny" fat girl thing! I can't even tell you how many times people (especially my mom) are like, "What? You're not overweight! Please don't develop an eating disorder!"

Ugh. Sorry, but that's not what the scale.. and the tape measure.. and the mirror.. and my pant size tell me. And I'm NOT developing an eating disorder, I just want to be healthy!

Anyway, you picked a fabulous team in terms of motivation and support :)

the problem with my acid reflux is that I contract the H. pylori bacteria. I know this because I get tested for it and test positive. and, now that I think of it, the reason I contract it so easily is because I probably have depleted good bacteria in my GI tract. thanks!

I totally understand what you're talking about and good for you for being DONE! :)

I wanted to let both of you ladies know that if you're having trouble with acid reflux the best thing you can do is take some probiotics. It's the good bacteria that lives in your intestinal tract and is depleted in most of us. I was on medication for acid reflux for 6 years and I was able to get off of it once I started taking probiotics.

I've always had this problem that no one believes me when I get fat that I am INDEED fat and/or overweight. Medically, I'm considered obese because I'm more than 40 pounds over my "ideal weight" and because my BMI is over 30. So long as I'm wearing clothes, it's very difficult to tell that I'm actually overweight. Without clothes, however, I'm forced to face reality in the mirror. That's why this weight loss and lifestyle change I'm doing is all about me for sure and has nothing to do with anyone else. I am literally the only one subjected to my fatness. It's had it's healthy impacts on me...borderline hypertension, joint pain and injuries, migraines, acid reflux, sleeping problems, depression, and so on. I want to take control of myself and my life for the first time in my life. I've always gone with the flow and it's gotten me no where except stuck in an eddy at the side of the river, left behind by those I thought were my friends. But...NO MORE!!! I'M DONE!!! Done being the "skinny" fat girl and the "silent" fat girl...done with it!
