I would want to get my arms and legs done first, because I have more sagging skin there then I do my belly. I am though going to wait to see what I look like when I get to my goal weight before I make any final decisions about any surgeries.

It comes down to a simple question: what do you want out of life, and what are you willing to do to get it?

I would have to , after having the csection with my little boy , it left me with lots of overhang , if you go on my profile, you will be able to see and i know for a fact , no matter how much weight I lose, that overhang will still be there, so it needs chopping off

I would if i really needed it. first I would try to lift weights and work on my problem areas and if that doesnt work I would go for it. Plus the girls needs some work done to them. They are starting to sag :(

Breast reductions are occasionally considered medically necessary and covered by insurance. They save a lot of money by fixing the cause of all your back pain instead of treating it over and over.

Rarely, and very rarely are things like tummy tucks covered. I know of a woman who has lost like 300 lbs (gastric bypass) and looks like a melted ice cream cone. She has inches and inches and inches of sagging skin which cause chaffing and rashes and infections. Her insurance which covered the gastric bypass because she was so large, won't cover the body tuck because that is "cosmetic". But, the cover the treatment for the infections caused by the rubbing of excess skin. It is really sad, actually.

I am a big believer in knowing what you are getting yourself into when you begin procedures like this. Make sure you talk to your insurance company about every step of the way. Or be prepared to take out a second mortgage to pay for it!

Imperfection is important. If we were all perfect, then there would be no such thing as growth, and everyone would be extremely boring, which is, paradoxically, not that perfect.-- Dr. Matt

It's such a personal decision, but if it would make you feel better and you are healthy enough to do it, why not? I will most likely have a breast reduction and lift when it's all said and done.

Anja, I'd be interested in hearing how/why your surgeon thinks your procedure would be covered by insurance. I know every plan is different, but I would definitely pursue it with my insurance company if I understood the medical justification. I always assumed it would be considered cosmetic.

If you have made mistakes, there is always another chance for you. You may have a fresh start any moment you choose, for this thing we call "failure" is not the falling down, but the staying down. ~ Mary Pickford

I know when I lose about 60 more pounds I am have a breast reduction/lift. I have already been to the surgeon and he's pretty sure insurance would cover that.

As far as saggy skin, if I had the money I would def get my arms and tummy done (even though my stomach seems fine now who knows in 60 more pounds)lol.

FOR SURE! Once I loose about 30 more pounds I will be at the Dr. getting the ball rolling. I have been told that no amount of exercise will give me a flat stomach. I had twins and have a lot of scar tissue in my lower belly that will never go away!

I can't wait to get my tummy tuck! And if I can afford it, I am gonna give "my girls" a lift too!

I'm hoping to have one done next year. I've worked my butt off (literally) to loose all this weight. if there was something I could do to work the extra skin off then o course I'd do it, but there isn't. I feel like I did this the hard way and fought this battle, the least I deserve is to let a doctor fix something I have no control over.

Heck yeah!

Already warned DH that if I keep off my weight at goal for 2 years I am having some work done. Since my goal weight will be 160-170 lbs lighter than when I started, well, well see.

I am planning on loosing weight slow, and exercising the whole way.

It's funny, I absolutely will not consider any kind of weight-loss surgery, but I would cosmetic surgery.

I'd have the tummy-tuck, a body lift, breasts, thighs and arms. Did I miss anything? If I had the money, I'd do it to get rid of all the loose skin, that's the worst thing. I don't like looking at me without clothes.

If I could afford it, I would definitely have it done. I am also very apple shaped (I like to call it a marshmallow on toothpicks shape) and it seems like no matter how much I lose or how thin I get I always have a bit of a spare tire :(

No.

I haven't had any kids, and after reading a lot of stories of people wanting to or having surgery, I thought that it might be inevitable.

But the truth is that I don't want to have any surgery. I'd love to have my body naturally look fabulous, but I know that I might be less satisfied (than I am NOW) with some parts when I'm at my goal weight. However, I'm working RIGHT NOW to change my expectations and still be motivated to move in the healthiest direction possible.

I choose to not have elective surgery.

This is something I have really thought about. And my answer is HECK YES! I have not worked this hard to get the results I am getting and have flabby skin hanging off every where. Once I get to my goal and have kept it off for a year, You can bet I am gonna get sucked and tucked.

One day I hope to have a breast lift and an entire lower body tuck/lift. Possibly something for the arms too (I was never too bothered by my arms even though I had "batwings" but now I have batwings AND wrinkled skin which makes my arms look like a 90 year olds)

After losing 170 lbs the amount of excess/sagging skin is a little unreal-looking. It's not only a psychological and emotional burden, but a physical burden too. It makes working out difficult (some exercises are nearly impossible unless I'm working out wearing a full Spanx body suit) and it's a challenge finding clothes that fit properly.

I am genuinely trying to work on being happy with myself exactly as I am because I know the MOST important thing is my health, but realistically I know I will never be comfortable with my body or fully happy until I have all of this excess baggage removed. It's just unsightly to me and I'm incredibly self conscious about it (not so much of admitting that I have it, but just the way it looks) These are extremely expensive procedures though and I really don't know when or if I'll ever be able to afford them. That's why I'm trying to focus on the positive and not obsess over how unhappy I am with the way I look without clothes on. I will still say that even if I'm never able to have the procedures done, I am still worlds happier having lost the weight, and I would NEVER go back to where I used to be no matter what.

Well, when I get to my goal weight, if I need to I would if I had the money. My arms bother me a lot, people see your arms more, I may consider doing that first, not sure. I would have to save up a lot of money and pray I would not get any infections after, there is a lot to consider, also the pain, but truly if I did have the money, I would start with my arms, then work on my breast, I hate to say this but one is bigger then the other, then the tummy tuck, but in reality all this is a dream, I would never have the money. but I still like to dream about it lol

After years of gaining and losing 80-100 lbs I've got sagging skin all over my body. My stomach looks bad, but the sagging skin on my arms bothers me the most because it is more visible. I figure there's no point in tucking one thing only to have everything else sag. Not sure if I would want to go through that much surgery- i'm a whimp when it comes to pain.

I would consider it if I had the money. I already had a breast lift/reduction due to one side being much, much larger than the other. If I did the tummy tuck, it would be way down the road. I know I want to have at least one more baby, maybe two. So I'd have to be sure I was done.

If I got down to where I wanted to be and still that area would not budge then I would definetly consider it...I am right now considering a breast reduction if they do no go down when I get 50 lbs off then I am going to do it. They are starting to cause me back pain and that I can't live with the rest of my life.

I'm not fully opposed to it, and I'm certainly considering a breast lift...but I stop to consider that despite being morbidly obese for 15+ years, my body was very patient and good to me.

No high blood pressure.
No diabetes.
No heart condition.
No arthritis or major injury.
No major illness.

I find myself asking, do I put my body through major surgery for cosmetic/vanity reasons, asking it to bear an elective trauma?

I don't know...I'm still waiting to see what I can achieve naturally, and with hard work and time.

FRENZTI_QUISTIS - I just have to say this, your husband didn't cheat because of your breasts... he cheated cuz he's a skeezy bastard.
Speaking from experience... mine cheated with my friend... he said I didn't cook enough. Um...nope, he's a skeezy bastard to.

normally I would say no to any procedure that was not necessary. im not a risk taker.

But then again, i have stretch marks and saggy skin now, whats it gonna look like when i get to my goal weight?!?! im scared that i'll have really saggy skin that will look worse than having all the extra fat! i'll be wearing spandex under all my clothes to contain it and would never date again!

So yeah, i've started thinking that excess skin removal may be something i'll do. I'm not worried about the scars since i have a bunch of those already, and even the stretch marks dont bother me much, but the jiggly skin...yeah that bothers me!

I would also like a breast reduction. my 38DDDs have been reaching for the floor for a long time now and i'd really like to do something about that. My ex husband cheated on me with a friend of mine, he said he liked her cause she had perky breasts. I guess that still sticks with me after all this time.

I'm already saving for mine. Once I get to my ultimate goal weight I will have a lot of excess skin. So tummy tuck, boob job, arms & legs will all get done. I will also get them done asap once I hit my goal, I'm not carrying around all this extra ugly skin any longer than I have to.

I'm conflicted on this one...I mean on the one hand I would love to get rid of my baby pooch of leftover skin and the amazing amount of stretch marks I have.

On the other hand I feel (and this is just a personal opinion not a judgement on anyone elses choices:) like it might be sending the wrong message to girls and women in general. I mean, those stretch marks are there because of my babies, it is proof that I was there, that I carried them, that my body can do amazing and beautiful things...It seems to me that I would be sending the message that my body is somehow damaged and that there is something wrong with it and that it needs changing.

I don't know if that makes any sense but I just feel like it would be a very hard thing to explain to my neice without feeling like someday after she has kids she will feel bummed about herself and her body??

I must say though that if the extra skin causes me any problems, rashes or anything than that would definatly be a reason I would do it!

I will think that I have an opinion on the subject and then I see a cute bikini at the store and the inner argument begins all over again LOL:)

I would consider it as well as what they call a mommy makeover...

One thing though, my friend Toni had this done and when she gained weight again she gained it all in her back...I think that one would have had lost the weight for a long period of time ensuring they can keep it off. If you were to gain your body would change the way it looked..kind of like Ron in the biggest loser....it hurt my eyes when he took off his shirt to weigh in..he had had lipo etc...

Sure, I'd consider it. I really think surgery is a choice somebody makes about their body, as long as it doesn't become disordered or really common. It's not the world's best use of money, but to each her own!

However, I think there might be kids in my future. So I definitely won't be doing any surgeries until I know I'm through whatever pregnancy and breastfeeding my body may be in for later.

I would love to be able to afford a tummy tuck. I have wanted one since the birth of my son as I have a roll of scar tissue that hangs a bit over my C section scar. I think as I lose weight this will begin to look event worse.

Yes, I am thinking once at goal weight, I might have a tummy tuck, but definitely a breast reduction with lift. I have had three babies too and have lots of stretch marks.

Once I've kept the weight off for at least a year, I would DEFINITELY consider a breast reduction/lift if I feel it's necessary.

And I'm vain enough that I would consider a tummy-tuck or a removal of excess skin if I felt it was necessary too.

I don't want to trade in one set of body-image issues for another.

For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. --Ephesians 6:12

I am not looking forward to the pain but due to the amount of weight I have to lose I think a tuck all over is inevitable. Boyfriend says he will pay for it. Now if he could just share some of the pain I would be even happier. They say it is a tough recovery.

I will not do anything till it is all gone and I have kept it off for at least one year.

I'm with the breast reduction girls. Actually that's what started my journey is my back pain from "the girls"... If they are still huge (after 20 lbs they went from 40DDD to 38DDD) I'm considering it...

If I felt it was the only way to get rid of excess, heck yeah. I don't have belly issues, I have butt and thigh issues and the only way to really get a redo on that is lipo... which I have and will continue to consider as I get closer to my goal weight. But, I would also like a boob lift. perky gals... that would be nice. But. butt and thighs come first!

Imperfection is important. If we were all perfect, then there would be no such thing as growth, and everyone would be extremely boring, which is, paradoxically, not that perfect.-- Dr. Matt

I absolutly would! If I am going to commit to loose weight and live a healthy lifestyle and I still have skin hanging around my tummy, you bet i'm going to reward myself with a flat tummy!

I wouldn't. The only thing I'd consider would be a breast lift, big breasts tend to sag a little.

If I could afford it, I would have a tummy tuck and a breast lift and maybe even an augmentation.

If I had the money ... you bet! The only thing that would stop me is the scare. I don't want a giant U shaped scare hip to hip.

Once I hit goal weight, I would definitely CONSIDER it. I would have worked too hard to still not be happy with my appearance.

Depends on how much I have left over when all the weight is gone. I know 2 people that had tummy tucks and both had problems.

Tummy tuck? probably not... if I were to consider surgery I would have a breast lift. My whole life I have NEVER had perky breasts.

I would definitely consider it once the weight is all gone. I really don't care for surgery though (I have had complications both times I've gone under!) so it would be something I consider long and hard first.

I haven't had any kids, but if I had a lot of excess skin that would drive me crazy and still made me feel self-conscience, I think I would.

Right now, I would like to have breast work. Not that they are big, so no implants, it is just one is quite a bit larger than the other and would love to have them more equal in size.

If I work hard enough to get down to my goal and my stomach looks like I'm afraid it's going to... 100% yes I would. I just don't know if that baby pooch will ever go away... but one way or another it WILL go away!!!

Well, once I lose the next 100, I've contemplated removal of excess skin as necessary, which is often accompanied by just a little tummy tuck. Unless the girls reduce their size drastically, as they have not with the first 60lbs lost, then I'm also going for a breast reduction.
