Hi, I'm back to SP after a lapse. I've been reading posts on here and through them discovered the walking for fun website, which looks useful, so I have signed up for that and am starting the Crater Lake trail.

I think I shall take up where I left off on my walk around the world. I think I was still in China.

I've started back walking since January 6th in preparation for my 5 week trip to Europe.....and man oh man, did I walk there. Thank goodness I did "train." I'm continuing this for health and I now do enjoy it.
I'm going to walk back to Paris, France.(4,570) so I better get busy. 2.36 today

I am in the process of reading a book on the Civil war & I am walking from site to site in order of events. My first leg was from Fort Sumter to Harpers Ferry 590.4 miles. I started in December & gave myself to the end of May and finished on May 4th. The next leg of my journey was Harpers Ferry to Baltimore 69.8 miles and I finished on May 16th. The next leg is Baltimore to Norfolk Va 233.1 miles. My goal is to finish by the second week of June.

I have always used Google maps to plot my own trail. The Walking4fun does look nice, though. I just started walking again and need to put my miles for something. I walked about halfway around the world with another team I could start that back up; but the team is gone.
As a team we would total our miles. There were as many as 5 walking at once but mostly just 3. I tabulated all of the reported miles and did the mapping. The team leader died and I took over but it fizzled out Somewhere in western China. “Always remember you're unique, just like everyone else” ~ Alison Boulter

Where is your virtual walk? Web site? Free?
San Diego to Stone Mountain...sounds like across the whole south of the USA... I am using "Walking for fun" www.walking4fun.com/profile/ finishing Scotland which has been wonderful...thinking about Appalachian Trail which is LONG. Yours sounds interesting. But would also be a long 2 year commitment...or more... Joyce, a Daughter of the King, that is, a Princess!

I'm on a Virtual walk from San Diego to Stone Mountain. So far I've gone 20.3 miles. Not out of town yet really.

What do you recommend?
I should probably pick a long one to carry me through the summer. Kind of looking at Appalachian Trail but thinking 2,200 miles will take me 2 years. Not ready for that commitment! PCT would be the same or longer. What have you liked? Joyce, a Daughter of the King, that is, a Princess!

Oh pooh! I just started the Florida Keys! Just finished the PCT and was tired of mountains, trees and cold/snowy weather! Was looking forward to some Florida sunshine and cheeseburgers in paradise! Oh well, hoping to finish in 20 days or less. Maybe I will join you in Scotland!

I'm reading a book on the 150th anniversary of the civil war. I'm going to walk to all the major sites in the time line in the book starting with Fort Sumter where the first shots were fired on April 12 1861 to Harper's ferry where the union left burning the buildings on April 18. The total miles for the first leg is 590.4 & I started Dec 1& so far I've gone 33.41 miles as of December 11. My goal is to be done with this first leg by the end of May.
I walked 92.3 miles total in December so I have 498.1 miles left to go Edited by: TKTMTA at: 1/1/2016 (17:52) You are your only limit!!!

I am doing a virtual walk across Germany, partly because I am visiting Germany in person right now and walking or hiking as much as possible in this beautiful country. The virtual walk is on worldwalking.org and I just started a little more than a week ago - at this point, I'm 6% of the total steps for the trip and a little less than half-way to Berlin, which happens to be where I'll be in person a little later today :-)

I am walking a short trail and touring London on worldwalking.org. I am currently standing outside St Paul's Cathedral which was built on the top of Ludgate Hill and is the highest point in London. Oops, tome to go...I think they are starting prayer service soon!
Today is a new day. I can't change yesterday or know what tomorrow will bring. I can only control right here, right now.

Thank you ASOBFALLS! I have been wondering what I should be walking next after finishing up the Mordor walk earlier this month. On to Chemin Le Puy!
