I am a single parent of children who both recently became adults and suffering from empty nest syndrome, due to no more soccer, softball, dance etc. I thought I would be thrilled, but at 49 I am anything but and overweight to boot by an excessive amount of weight. I am ready to live though, but I am finding old habits die hard. Like on the way home, easier to pick up a fish filet instead of going home to cook for 1. I am happy to be on sparkpeople for the last 2 weeks. I have started walking, but change has been slow. I have thyroid issues and my Dr. says my metabolism is in a coma. (I know very encouraging), but something in me won't let me give up. I work, I quit, I start again. I hope this works. I am willing to give it a shot despite the odds.

Today may there be Peace within. May you trust that you are exactly where you are meant to be.
May you not forget the infinite possibilities that are born of Faith in Yourself and others. May you use the gifts that you have received & pass on the Love that has been given to you.

Welcome Back!! This is my second time on Sparkpeople. I did the phentamine but I was not good after I got off. I know how hard it is to lose weight this way but you will feel a greater sense of accomplishment when you know that you did a lifestyle change not just a quick fix. Please feel free to contact me if you need support.

I've joined SP two separated times since 2005. The first time I lost 55 pounds. Then I got pregnant with child #3. Put the weight back on, joined back up in 2008 but just couldn't seem to do it. I am back and ready!!! I am 32 years old and a single mom to 3 children ages 7,6,and 3(my oldest is high functioning autistic plus adhd). I want to lose 100 pounds if possible in a year. I work full time as a Speech Language Pathologist at an elementary school so I find myself quite tired. I purchased a Gazelle exercise machine but rarely use it. I gotta get motivated to do this! I tried phentermine from my doctor but I am part of the small percentage of people it didn't even phase so after 2 months and only losing 1 pound she took me off of it. I then considered bariatric surgery (the lapband) but at this point I cannot afford the recovery time (not many sick days from work). So, here I am again, trying to do this on my own. I have an incredible appetite that I fight daily. Hopefully I can find support here and do this thing! :) I'd like to feel good about "getting back out there" in the single life!
