I had an older version of Dragon initially. And it was incompatible with some of the addons I had on my browser. I had to disable them every time I wanted to use it. It was such a pain in the neck, I uninstalled DRagon. However the newer version (12) seems to be okay in that regard. Did you ever check to see if they have a version for MAC?

My son is in special education and they have him using Dragon, so I don't think it's too hard to learn.

I looked at buying it but it doesn't work with all software, and as a Mac user, I would have to change to other programs that work with it, e.g. it doesn't with with the Mac email. Windows users might find it more compatible with what they use already.

Some time ago I purchased the voice recognition software called DRAGON. I had it sitting on a shelf for a long time and didn't use it. I actually love to type and can type faster than I can speak....so I put off installing this software. However my vision is jeopardized and my daughter insisted that I install this program and get to be comfortable using it so that when my vision prohibits me from working on the computer I will be able to. ACtually I don't know how it will help me because I type from touch and don't have to look at the keys or the screen to type. But I did recently find while exploring DRAGON, that it has a setting where it reads to you what is on the screen and that could be maybe beneficial. There are programs that exist for the blind which cost thousands of dollars but which make it easy for a blind person to utilize their computer..

However, DRAGON does provide respite for hurting hands. And for that reason I'm glad to have it. I still need to become more proficient with it. Anyway, I thought I would recommend it to you. It' s less than $200. it does take some patience while it learns your voice and you learn how to command it to do what you want.
DRAGON is put out by Nuance Corp.
