Best wishes ! I'll be thinking of you & your journey! emoticon
I'm having success with my chocolate cravings by allowing myself a chocolate protein drink when the craving hits. Usually it's a Glucerna drink. I did find a chocolate protein drink from Shakeology that is so good. emoticon
Are you going cold turkey? If not, you could do a step down method like I'm doing.
I can't keep anything chocolate- oreos or candies in the house"cause I will eat them.

Welcome FITANGEL4EVER!

Emotionally today was a good day. I got out of my pajamas. I played with my grandson for a while. I went to bunco. Stuff I do not usually do.

However, my healthy life style plan was shot to heck. I ate more than I should of things that should not have. I did not get my exercise in. I stopped tracking because I did not even know how to track what I had eaten. Only good thing I did was drink all my water.

Tomorrow is a new day.

Lynn

Thank you Snowjester!! It is really time to take control of my life!! No more excuses! Thank you for reading my blog. I have never written one before but I decided that is something I will try to do each day.

So far today is going ok. Got thrown off track with school being canceled. Going with the flow though.

Time to get off here, switch the laundry, do my Bible study and get my butt moving! Have a great day everyone!!

Good Monday Morning all! I was kind of in a funk this weekend. My back is out and I just hurt, plus the husband made me mad on Saturday when he finally called me but I am determined to have a good week. Chiropractor this afternoon so I'll feel better and instead of brooding about the husband I wrote him a letter explaining how he made me feel when we talked. Hope you all have a great week!

Happy Monday and welcome new members,

Hope is well with everyone. Trying not to let this sinus problem get me down, but not doing too well with it. So, going to take a step back and figure out how to conquer this.

Was a decent ay today. I got bored for a while and could not think of anything to do. Thank goodness I did not eat, that would have been my normal action. Of course, it is time for bed and now I can think of a few things I should have done today.

Hi everyone! This is my first, official, post. Introduced myself on the intro forum. emoticon

I had such an eye opening day today that I actually posted a blog about it! I have never written a blog about anything! Anyway...I won't repeat the whole thing here.

Due to my eye opening day I am planning on posting my goals for the week later tonight. I am going to focus on one week at a time. I would really appreciate connecting with people here for mutual support on this journey that we are all on. I know for me, trying to take better care of myself and stay focused on the positive is so hard with depression. I do much better with support from non-judgemental, understanding people on my side. Unfortunately I don't have many people like that in my life. My husband is thin and fit and thinks it is so simple to just "don't eat the junk and get off your fat ass!" I wish it was that simple!!!

Anyway, I am here to be a support and for support! Until next time.... emoticon

Kris, yeah I stopped it just before it was about to get out of control. There was one night in nov when it was cold and I already went through 2 bottles and wanted another one and almost convinced myself I was good to drive...I think that was a turning point. 38 years...wow! Inspiring.

How's everyone's weekend going? Mine's been uneventful. Took a nap, walked the dog, yada yada yada.

Lynn - 40lb lost is 40lb not hanging around - well done :-)

Sandy - enjoy your Rest Day - as in don't do too much!!!

Donna - it's unfortunate that sometime the very medication meant to help us, only makes us worse :-( I'm glad that you are feeling a bit better now, and that your expectations become a reality :-)

I've been doing better recently since being off the Azulfidine (which worsened my depression). I'm not crying all the time which is much better. Yesterday was a great day and I'm expecting today to be as well.

I haven't decided if I should take a rest day or get a ride to the Y. I'm not sure about the class time for today since the instructors are doing a special class. I could walk the indoor track. It's much nice than walking outside in the cold.

Hey all,

I am heading for church soon. Plan to take today as a rest day but may end of doing a small workout.

Brown-congrats on your weight loss.

Hope you all are doing well and are keeping warm. We can do it one day at a time.

Not a horrible day today. Weekly weigh in - hit the 40 pounds lost mark! Could have done much better nutritionally but I did get in 35 minutes of exercise. Tomorrow is a new day.

Sandy - good one on meeting your fitness goals :-) Sometimes that is all the impetus that we need to continue!

SNOWJESTER - Gosh - you must have had more energy than you actually realized :-) CONGRATULATIONS on your sobrierty :-) I have a feeling that you may have been on that slippery slope with alcohol addiction. Unfortunately too many people don't recognize it until it is too late. My late husband was an alcoholic. There was always the excuse why he was drinking; friends over; sad; happy; worried; thirsty; reward; and the list goes on. Unfortunately packing away 3Litre of wine most days is NOT healthy. It affected him physically with his health, and caused many car and other accidents, cost him his job, caused major financial problems, caused relationship problems (until he stopped being verbally abusive when drinking) - the list continues with that, too. He went for about a month without a drop passing his lips, and he was a totally different person, including looking really good. I don't drink at all, and haven't for about 38 years. I don't miss it, either.

MARIENOW - THANKyou :-) When you are sick you shouldn't be worried about trying to lose weight. Concentrate on getting well and hydrating well.

TOHIKEAPTRAIL - it sounds like you got quite a work-out :-) Well done!!

TOHIKEAPTRAIL good job getting to your class! You're really dedicated, getting on the bus to make it.

So I completely forgot that today is an anniversary for me. 60 days sober. Is their a term for a pre-alcoholic? Because I think I am one. I was putting away a bottle of wine way to easily and way to frequently, and for all the wrong reasons. And addiction runs in my family, so two months ago I decided to stop before it got out of control. I think it might have actually been out of control because I had withdrawal symptoms. I'm proud of myself.

Hi all --- I'm having a hard time motivating myself with the food issue. I did work out for 3 days at the gym this week. Then I got sick so now in bed.

Having a hard time caring or finding motivation to lose weight.

It just seems a little pointless right now since I just end up gaining it back anyway.

P.S. Kris, it's so nice to see you posting. ((hugs))

I took the bus that leaving near my house at 925 so I was early for my 1130 class at the Y by more than an hour. I did that deliberately so I could walk around the track for an hour. I did two classes, Latin Dance and Kickboxing.

Hi all,
I did a short jillian michaels workout this morning. Didn't really have energy so I faked my way through it. I was still sweating. Snowy outside. My dog is loving it while I'm freezing. Hope everyone has a good weekend.

Hello everyone

I am doing well. I met my fitness goals and I am in a better mood. I am more focused this week than I have been in a while. I have a doctor appointment coming next week. I am looking forward to see how she will react to my weight loss. I am also going to the chiropractor as well.

I'm sore this morning. It's Saturday and the buses run later today starting at 915 and I want to go to an exercise class at 930 so I need to get a ride or I will miss the class. If I miss that class, I'll go to the one at 1130.

DOLPHINSIMBA - shifting boxes etc sure does count as exercise, and it is even in the fitness section if you want to track it (to get more points :-)

SNOWJESTER - unfortunately she has just come on heat! So far tonight there hasn't been any unwanted visitors, but then it is only 2315hrs! SOME days I can get a wee bit of a sleep in, but some land just down the road is being broken into about 30 sections for housing, so there is a constant bang, crash of diggers and trucks, etc. preparing the land. I have been finding this really annoying (don't like noise much!) When I do manage to get some sleep, someone decides to phone. I'm not keen on turning the phone off in case of medical emergencies re parents and little grandson.

Kris,
I hope the dogs heat cycle is coming to an end! My puppy woke me up an hour ago to go outside and now I'm wide awake. I feel your pain. I hope you get some sleep tomorrow. Can you take cat naps at any time during the day? I'm a firm believer in napping whenever possible. emoticon

Hi guys - I've been away over a month now. It's over a month since my husband died.

I've been slowly getting back to the boards, so hopefully I am now here to stay.

My older g/son has been living with me, but staying at his Mum and Step-dad's a couple nights a week so he could babysit his nearly 6yr old brother while his Mum works. The younger one's school starts again for the year on 7th Feb. I've been feeding the neighbours 1/2 doz chooks the last couple days while they are away. I've been gathering their eggs and they are huge. Over a dozen so far in 2 1/2 days.

I've been really REALLY tired - dogs to the left and of me and dogs to the right of me have been barking a heap during the night. (5 dogs one side ad 3 the other.) THEN of course my Scruffy has been yelling her head off too - so much so that the night before last I threatened to rip it out and stuff it up her back passage - LOL! It turns out that one of the dogs to the right of me is on heat and there have been a few 'gentlemen' dogs hanging around trying to get in, but there many attempts are thwarted - in the first place because of the really high fence all the way round, and in the second place because their dogs are in fully enclosed kennels/runs. Add to the dog problem, my sleeping hasn't been the best anyway. This morning I was woken early (and after a sleeping tab last night) by Bim's voice yelling - "Kris - get out of bed!" I was out quicker than a blink of the eye, only to realize that no-one had yelled. I was still really tired. Anyway, the result of the extreme tiredness is that today I have been constantly pigging out. My head has mostly been buried in the fridge, scoffing down a variety of things - lots of fruit, but other stuff too. So far (and it isn't even dinner time) I have cleaned up over 3,000 calories, and that is more than I have had in an entire day for well over a year. Still, who cares .... how sad ..... never mind! Tomorrow is a new day for me to start back on and in the meantime, today I have been enjoying the new 'jaw experience - LOL!

I hope that all those with crappy days, that the day improves, and those with good days, that it remains just that!

Take care,
Kris

I've spent the past three days in the hospital with my Dad. He had heart valve surgery. All went well with the surgery and he should be discharged soon. I can't believe how many new people we have since I last posted. Welcome to you all!!! It is so nice to see so many new posts. Today I am trying to catch up a bit from the past three days. I have well over a hundred emails that have stacked up since I last logged on, so I'll never get to all of them today. I have to be back at the hospital soon, then it's off to pick up the grand kids from school and babysitting, respectively, before I pick my daughter up from school too. We have a conference with the doctor this afternoon to get Dad's orders, regarding his continuing care after he is discharged. He's excited to be going home and I want to be sure that we all understand what is necessary post surgically. I will be taking him back up the Gorge and my sister and her husband will stay for awhile to be sure that he follows doctor's orders. I will be responsible for him once again when they leave in a week or two. I'm so relieved the surgery has had a happy outcome. I hope that you all are doing well and am sending positive energy and hugs to those that aren't and need them. Have a relaxing weekend everyone. Take care and God bless, Deb emoticon

I'm having a good couple of days. For a long time my biggest stress was packing all my posessions for this move to Australia, but I had a Eureka moment just a few days ago, and I've been getting lots packed (and lots thrown away, which is very hard for me). I'm quite happy with myself and my mood today!

Good Morning,

Kudos to everyone's success. Having a wintery mix this morning and feel like curling up with a nice blanket to take a nap. But have to work, that comes first. Just one of those gray, blue kind of day today. My son signed up for 9th grade classes last night. Mixed emotions with that. But will pray for support and guidance.

I wish everyone have a super, safe weekend.

Evening everyone. I had a good day today. I felt actually somewhat normal and happy. I actually was so preoccupied by having a good day that I actually forgot about eating! Also I stepped on the scale tonight and realized I had lost 3lbs. I could of jumped out of skin with shear happiness. Who would of thought that something so small could make me so happy! Also wish me luck tomorrow, it's my quit smoking day. Just one more thing on my list of things to make me happier. Loves to all and have an awesome day tomorrow!

Welcome Melina and Kanatagirl emoticon Please don't give up on the mental health systems quite yet. There is support out there, you just have not found it yet. And don't every be afraid to look into therapy for yourself or your husband. This site can be very theraputec for me at times. I have tried certain places for my son to talk to and me being his Mom, we have not found someone that his best interest in him. So, until we find that person, I have sought help through the internet world. I research for me and for him, from tips to handle certain situation, diet, supplements and exercise. Also, there are services out there that you may not be aware of, you just need to try and search it. One thing I have learned, you are not alone, we may not have the same situations but we all have the same feelings of lost, anger, sadness, fear, etc. Always know that you come on here and vent as much as you and no one will judge you. We have each others back. emoticon

Hope your days will be blessed with happiness,

Laura emoticon emoticon

Hello all, I'm new to the group so this is my first "daily check-in".

Today I met up with friends from a therapy group we used to be part of. We also bumped into another acquaintance who is also a mental health service-user.

I have had a very bad two years of involvement with the local MH services (small town in the UK), mainly because they refused to offer me help, even after suicide attempts and other bad episodes. All they did was "monitor my wellbeing" (i.e. watch me deteriorate month after month and do nothing about it) which culminated in them removing my case worker, leaving me without even a contact number, but still officially in their care - so I couldn't even access help from other organisations, since I hadn't been discharged.

Back to today: I was basically surrounded by my friends and their acquaintance, hearing them talk about all the people and activities who they both know and take part of, having been referred by their case workers. I struggled not to cry, feeling utterly neglected and abandoned by the care system. There is nothing I can do about it now, because I'm moving to Australia in a month, but it still stings.

I had to remind myself that the people around me, my friends, are receiving attention, but not necessarily help. They are all in a very bad place because the local MH team is appalling compared to the rest of the country, so in the end, they're no better off than I am. We all agreed that continuing to meet up regularly after the therapy ended was the best help we've received.

That, in turn, reminded me of how important our mutual support is. We are the best resource we have: us and the support and strength we can offer each other. I need to try and remember that when I feel like withdrawing and isolating myself.

Hi, I'm new and this is my 1st post. I've been following the SP diet plan for 3 days now. I'm doing as well as I can but outside stressors are not exactly helping. I live in an apartment building that is not exactly soundproof and I'm OK with that. The problem is my upstairs neighbor behaves as if his family are the only ones existing on the building which means kids stomping up and down and play fighting which sounds like boulders dropping on the ceiling constant moving of major furniture, and playing the television at major levels. We've tried talking to the landlord who has verbally reprimanded them to no effect. Once we had enough and knocked on the ceiling and he came down screaming and yelling at the top of his voice for us to "change the building". Apparently he tried that same attitude with the landlord and the landlord has thrown up her hands saying that there's next to nothing she can do and that she would be laughed out of court for bringing a young family up for disturbance of the peace. My SO has already said we are in this for the long haul and not moving (which was traumatic enough in itself). So I'm pretty uncomfortable with living arrangements to say the least.

Christina, I'm really sorry to hear about what is going on in your relationship. Is it possible for you and your husband to get couples counselling or for you to get some kind of therapy to cope with your situation? You could try asking whether or not the relationship is important enough for the both of you to continue. Hope you can work things out.

Just checking in. Today is sooo much better then yesterday. Work is going by quick, even if it is giving me a headache and I'm being pushed to work quickly. Got to meet unrealistic deadlines! Joy.. :/

There is one thing that continues to make me sad. My husband and I don't really talk anymore. Or at least not about anything that feels valuable. Our total talking time is only about 30 minutes, maybe an hour, every day. emoticon A few months back, I tried talking about my feelings and how I thought about certain things. He was visibly upset and then shut down. I haven't really talked to him since.

Thanks to all who read. It's been really nice to write and talk this out. emoticon

Laura,

I'm so happy you aren't giving up. One of my favorite cartoons is a line drawing of two little girls staring frightened at a scale. One turns to the other and says, "Don't touch it! It'll make you cry!" Oh how that rang true the first time I saw it. The important thing is that you are moving forward. Relying on the numbers on the scale as the be all and end all was what made me give up my first time around. When things get tough just focus on the current moment. Not to your next weigh in. Not to your next meal. Not to the next hour. Focus on the moment you are in bc that moment is THE most important moment. Then you can decide to power through or take a rest. You can do this! You deserve it!

Much love,
Michelle
