My first baby was born in October. For him it sucks because he is really smart but had to wait until he was almost 6 before Kindergarten (state law here) so he has always been ahead, which caused behavior issues. Other than that it is fine.
My second one is a June baby- perfect as a teacher! I did not have to take maternity leave or use many of my sick days. I used them the first year back though on the occasion he was sick.
I would have loved to have our 3rd in April or May for the same reasons, but at this point we will take what we can get. I don't know how much longer we will continue TTC if it doesn't happen.

Lol! ReadyRachel I almost wanted to skip March as well since currently by cycle I would technically be due on Christmas... I do not want a Dec baby however, I have learned its not like you really plan it and they type of work I do on the side is plan destination wedding travel and I already have two big weddings next April so I cannot be due between Feb and May of next year so we plan on trying for the next three months and hope that I will get pregnant and can have the baby either Nov, Dec or Jan otherwise we are going to take off the summer and try again in the spring. But at the same time I mostly just want a happy, healthy baby and pregnancy. So I will take what I can get. But it would be ideal if I could conceive this month. Although Nov wouldn't be my preferred month I don't really want to wait until the fall either.

My first daughter was conceived in June. That was nice because I was still small during the summer months, but I was also extremely nauseous and tired and spent practically the whole summer sleeping. I would have preferred that part in the winter when I don't want to be outside anyway. We are trying for our second now. If I don't get pregnant this month, I am going to skip TTC in March because I don't want the baby to have a December birthday. Other than that, I don't have a preference.

Like you said, I'd like to NOT be gigantically pregnant in the summer, because my mom said it was miserable (my sister was an October baby). I like my spring birthday; it's usually warm enough to have outdoor parties or campouts for birthdays, and I was kind of in the middle of my class birthday-wise. I was always short, so being small wasn't really an issue. I don't know of anyone who has held their child back due to physical size, but there are some who were held back because they missed the age cut-off date. My ideal time would be to get pregnant by the end of June/early July so the baby would be born in March/April. Bonus: the closer the kid is born to either my birthday or our wedding anniversary, the easier it will be for date-challenged hubby to remember baby's birthday.

Just call me La. Most everyone else does.

I would prefer to have my next baby in the summer; my mom is a teachers assistant so I could have her for a long period of time if I gave birth in June or July. Also, my job really gets insane around Thanksgiving to the end of February and I don't' want to leave my team hanging if I can help it.

All that being said, I'll take what I can get. Just give me a healthy baby and I will be happy. emoticon

This article claims that babies born in the summer are the healthiest of the year. Interesting.

It says MAY is the WORST month to get pregnant and results in the most unhealthy babies.
In fact, January through May is not favourable overall. These babies will be born in the winter and have lower birth weights, poorer eye sight, slower growth, and slower mental development, premature birth, etc.. There seems to be some connection with mothers getting the flu early in pregnancy.

Of course this is a statistical average and does not hold true for EVERY child, so don't get upset with me here.

My own son was born in October and conceived in February, and he does have health issues, so I can't argue with this.

JUNE, JULY, and AUGUST are scientifically the healthiest times to get pregnant and produces babies with the best term and birth weight.

I am pretty convinced to now wait until June to TTC. I was planning to start in May, but now I will wait an extra month just to be safe.

I have been thinking about this a bit (not that you can plan perfectly), and there are a number of issues to consider:
1. Not being super big and pregnant in the summer (I was for #1 and it was not fun)
2. Timing it so the baby's birthday comes at a good time, not during Christmas or other holidays (baby #1 always has his birthday during Thanksgiving)
3. Size/age starting school - my boy will be one of the smallest because he is an October baby.

SO... I figure since we got pregnant in February with him, this is not the ideal month to get pregnant again.

When do you think would be a good month to get pregnant? I love my summer birthday; it is always fun and there is lots to do, but I never had my school friends around when I was a kid. Is there a perfect time?
