Sounds like a great visit and plan! Stress is definitely a huge factor! Glad you were able to relieve your mind of some of this.

Dr visit went well. I had my charts, and we talked about my OPKs. since I am ovulating, he wants to do an estrogen test, sperm analysis before we check the Fallopian tubes. We can't do the Estrogen test until the end of December because this cycle it would be Thanksgiving weekend and they will not be open. Discussed other options I learned exactly what a IUI is and our insurance covers that. He said timing is everything as we age so it is important that the day I get the positive O and the next 2-3 days to try try try.... Oh yeah and to figure out how to relieve the stress in my life.

Thanks for all the support. We will go to a specialist early next year depending on what the tests show.

Thanks Candace for the info. I have to see the OBGYN before I can get to the specialist. I'm sure I'll have questions after the visit too.

Thank you Gwen for your support.

I'd ask what their protocol is and how they typically treat TTC issues. A major red flag will be clomid - ask if they offer monitoring while taking clomid. If not, then refuse to take clomid and you might want to find another doctor.

Clomid stimulates egg production. My fertility clinic offered monitoring and it's a good thing that they did. I was able to see how many eggs were growing, the rate at which each egg was growing and when I should take my trigger shot and have my IUI. I got lucky and clomid did NOT over stimulate the egg growth for me. Many women do get benched a cycle due to too many mature eggs (higher risk for multiples).

Honestly, this is a whole topic that can be completely overwhelming and stressful. I went through trouble getting pregnant and initially opted to see an OBGYN to help. I decided against the idea after a few days and went straight to a Reproductive Endocrinologist. An RE is going to get to the root of the problem and will do testing on you and your partner to determine what could be causing the issue.

I started researching and communicating with a lot of girls on thebump.com. There is a Trouble Trying to Conceive board that is a wealth of knowledge and the women are incredibly helpful. I was with the board through all of my RE testing and I was so thankful because I was surrounded by supportive women who knew EXACTLY what I was going through. I'd highly recommend venturing over there and making an intro on the TTTC board. Also, they have some great resources on how to get started with an RE, what to look for, what you should try .....

Feel free to send me a PM if you have any questions or want to talk. I'm happy to help in any way that I can.

I don't have anything great to offer, but I just wanted to say that I hope your appointment goes well. When I went to talk to my doctor, I was already having a surgery, but I did bring up issues like asking if I could find out if my tubes were clear. I know some ladies ask for hormone levels to be tested like progesterone. I asked mine and he said they don't do that until you have three miscarriages. Maybe because you have been trying for a year they will offer some testing or to refer you to a specialist. I also brought in my charts, as I had been charting my temps for some time, and he gave me his two cents on them.

I called today to schedule an appointment with a new OBGYN to discuss TTC issues, and they had an opening tomorrow afternoon. We have been trying for a year and nothing. Are there questions to ask that I won't think of? I didn't think I would get an appointment so fast. Any ideas of what will be discussed or examined. I will not be having a pap as I had one last year and it was clear. Same medical group they are on the every 3 year structure unless there are issues.
TIA - I'm a bit nervous
