Have you tried the all natural approach?
~ Fertility Brew ~

1 oz. dried RED CLOVER BLOSSOMS

1 oz. dried NETTLE LEAVES

1 oz. dried RASPBERRY LEAF

Prepare an infusion of these herbs using 1 quart of boiling water.

Steep herbs overnight. Strain and drink freely throughout the day.

You may add 5-15 drops of EITHER Dong Quai tincture OR False Unicorn Roottincture to 1 cup of the above infusion ONCE DAILY. (In other words, if you drink all 4 cups of the infusion in 1 day add one of the tinctures to only 1 of those cups of infusion.)

In addition to the specific actions of herbs, it's important to address lifestyle factors as well, including nutrition.

Calcium and Magnesium are said to be vital in affecting a woman's ability to conceive and carry a baby. Get yourself a Vitamin & Mineral Chart and put it up on the refrigerator.

Typical fertility testing is a semen analysis for him. For you, it will probably start with some cycle day 3 blood work just to make sure all of those hormone levels are at correct levels. They may also ask you to do another blood test 7 days past ovulation in order to confirm that you are ovulating and that your progesterone levels are at the right level. If those are all okay, then they may have to move onto an ultrasound or HSG (where the put dye through your fallopian tubes to make sure that your tubes are clear.)

How do you know you ovulate? Do you chart? If so, I would bring those charts in with you and show them to the doctor.

Best of luck to you!

Yeah, I'm the type where I would rather hope everything is fine than know something is wrong, so it's a hard step to take.
My husband is also concerned on his end. I've lost a lot of weight, been eating right, limited caffeine/risk factors and am only 26.
He's going on 37, smokes heavily, drinks caffeine like water, and has the worst diet known to man. Oh, and I'm sure working 12 hours a day with a 2 hour commute doesn't help either :/

I was afraid of going to the RE specialist not sure if I wanted to hear something was wrong or something wasn't. They do quite a bit of blood work, hormones, levels, etc. The men have to do their thing also!! T
hey tested my CM to make sure it wasn't a hostile environment. I had to go back the next day after bding the night before and they took a sample to make sure that the sperm were getting through and the mucus wasn't too thick. They then monitored me for an entire cycle, ultrasound at Day 3 to make sure I had follicles, then Day 10 to make sure one got a mature follicle and then another ultrasound to make sure I actually ovulated (released). After I ovulated they measured my uterine lining (Day 17) and progesterone levels. When that cycle was not successful they then did an HSG test to make sure the tubes are clear, that is a common issue.
I hope that this helps, after meeting the RE I felt so much better. I hope your meeting goes well!

It is completely possible to get a period and not be ovulating, especially if your hormones are off. DH and I were certain that we DID NOT BD at the right time to get pregnant when we did. My best guess is that the OPK's were off and that I actually ovulated a few days before or after they would be positive.

In my case, the RE ordered TONS of blood tests and then when we got all the results, she ended up prescribing 1000 IU of vitamin D (on top of what was in my regular prenatals). Another possibility for you may be Clomid - my RE explained it as just giving a "boost" to your fertility even if things seem fine otherwise.

Good luck! I'll be thinking positive thoughts for you!

I would say a blood check wouldn't hurt, though if you're already ovulating your hormones shouldn't be too off. You could have them check your vitamin levels. I've heard that low vitamin D could be a possible culprit for infertility.

I'm coming up on my one year TTC-ing as well. I've already been diagnosed with PCOS, but there are some tests I'd like to have done to check out any physical issues (besides my hormonal stuff). After I lose some more weight, I'm going in to have them do an ultrasound to check for possible endo, adhesions, cysts (I've already been diagnosed with PCOS), scarring, whatever. I'm also going to ask for an HSG. They'll basically shoot a dye into your uterus and tubes to make sure there aren't any blockages. And I've heard that fertility increases somewhat after having an HSG, so it couldn't hurt!

Good luck with your testing!

We haven't gotten there yet but will also start discussing testing in a few months if still no luck. I have been really stressed which I know doesn't help and then I stress about being stressed which makes things worse! I just wanted to wish you the best of luck and hope it happens for you soon!

We're coming up on our 1 year mark of TTC so Dh and I are starting to talk about fertility testing in a more serious light. What does this actually consist of? I'm assuming for him it would just be a sperm sample, but for me...? I am ovulating regularly every month and have a regular cycle. Would they draw blood to get hormone levels? I just don't even know where to begin with questions/research.
