HEHE! You know reading this I was giggling! Its funny how something so natural and wonderful can feel soo... Dirty.. I guess thats what makes it fun! :D

As for stuff "falling" out My OBGYN who is like my best friend (I had cervical censer after Hannah was born, my oldest, so I saw him ever 3 months for a year and half.. When you are getting probed by some one that often its necessary to have a good relationship LOL!)told me, when we were trying for our second, the best course of action is to let him sit in you and go flaccid.. I know that sounds like.. Well not so pleasant but for us it was.. its a very loving and intimate moment..even while not trying we still do that!I actually love it because thats when my husband showers me in kisses and compliments.. Makes for a good night! :D Also another thing that is very important is a women to orgasm close to his ejaculation When a woman O's the cervix actually opens ever so slightly and makes kind of a pulling or sucking action that helps in shuttling the sperm past the opening.
As for the vitamins if you talk to your ob there are pills that are better then others for folic acid and zinc.
Wish the best of luck to you all who are starting TTC soon! Its a wonderfully scary journey that no woman would change for the world! The good the bad and the ugly are all worth it in the end! :D We aren't planning on pulling the plug as my husband puts it till October! Coming up quick! :D Must diet first! LOL

Brittany.

In regards to the multi-vitamin question, I actually just took the women's multi preconception and eight weeks into my pregnancy-- the doctor said it was fine, but that's just my doctor's opinion.

In regards to the sassier stuff ;), my ritual when we were working on baby making was to lay in bed about 10-15 minutes after-- I always kinda rolled my hips towards my chest and held my knees in-- I did that for so long, I still do it sometimes out of habit! Unfortunately stuff still oozes out and we don't have a very big bed-- we have an old washcloth that I call our "sex cloth"-- after I clean up, i just lay it on the wet spot and go to bed. Dry by morning and no yuckiness to sleep in!

He probably pulls out 2 early. If he stays n till it stops throbbing, that may help. holding legs up while massaging the legs/feet help. dont touch the vaginal or bladder areas. then go pee. Wipe front to back then cuddle. Vitamins-I suggest One a day prenatal vitamins. It includes Omega3 & multivitamin n 2 seperate pills. Don't combine with other vitamins = overdose.

I love that you asked this question! Its good to get it out there and see how many people are having the same thoughts. I've read about elevating and staying still for 10-20 minutes afterwards when TTC but since we aren't actually TTC for another two months I haven't ever tried it. Personally, I'm up and out of bed, straight to the bathroom and "tidying up" as quickly as possibly after intercourse, LOL, my husband and I usually race to the bathroom and then head back to bed for the post cuddle time :) It will be interesting when TTC time comes!

Smiling just makes everyones day better :)

Healthy body means healthier chance of fertility. For the ick factor, I keep a handful of old ratty facecloths in our bed table, we tend to laugh a lot during and after sex and I find the giggles work the kegels and actually sqeeze the stuff out! So wipe with the facecloths, enjoy a bit of cuddles and then make my way to pee.

I don't think a multi vitamin would make you fertile if you already aren't(due to timing of O, cycle day, etc) (or else we would all be bfp's by now) but it definitely won't hurt.

I do have to admit I am so totally thankful you started this with your "embarrassing" question. I have too thought maybe something is wrong cause it's the same with me. Nobody EVER states this seepage when talking about sex. It's like he finishes and it's just in there LOL I'm EXTREMELY glad I'm not the only woman that has questioned this and was truly embarrassed to ask anyone around me. And I ususally always have a towel handy in our bedroom to clean up after then I'll go to the bathroom to go pee.

100% folic acid is usually 400 micrograms, meaning it's 100% of the average non-pregnant, not TTCing woman's needs.

When trying to conceive and in the first 12 weeks of pregnancy, doctors recommend at least 800 micrograms.
I think you can still safely just take your normal multivitamin and then add some foods rich in zinc and folic acid (do a search on the www for ideas). That way you can finish your current bottle and then switch to prenantals if you wish.

The multi has 100% folic and zinc...I should still take pre-natal? I know she stressed the folic acid but the daily vitamin has 100% and I don't know if you can have too much of that...

Yes - take the prenatal and ask your OB if she wants you to take BOTH prenatal and multi-vitamin. The prenatal vitamins are heavy on the zinc and other vitamins that are specifically used to help babies. The prenatal will also help with your hair!

My hair dresser told me Saturday to take a multi-vitamin to keep my hair from falling out like it is now. She said to be careful because they make you fertile too. Is this true? Oh, and my OBGYN told me to start taking a pre-natal vitamin starting 1 month before we try to conceive, but if I'm taking a multi-vitamin (One-A-Day Woman's) do I need to take the pre-natal?

Monica - have you talked with your regular OB? Because she can get you started with fertility options. The specialist comes in when you want to do IUI or IVF.

Good luck!!!

I have much to catch up on!!

DH and I have been trying for over a year - and although I call it 'not actively trying' because we only had sex once a week for a long while, and last month is when we first really ttc when my o tests were really dark.
this month we are looking up a fertility doc - and what's weird is (I was on bc for about 12 yrs) and now my o tests are getting darker faster...maybe my cycle is finally on track??

I'm sorry - I just have to laugh about this whole conversation. It shouldn't be embarrassing/gross/funny to talk about because it's all so normal, but somehow I find myself giggling like a teenager.

I normally also run right to the bathroom - although I've been trying to lie still for about 10 minutes after just in case and THEN go to the bathroom. I'll confess, last night I totally conked out after - didn't get up at all. Though last night I was a tad tipsy, soooo....maybe that's why people have good luck conceiving after drunken nights - you just pass out after and it all stays in you!

I got a really dark line on my o-test this morning...trying not to get TOO hopeful, but I can't help but be a little excited about the possibility.

Love,
Hillary

That part about the thickness is true, but it's also due to being mixed with our own juices :) my aren't we being naughty discussing this! :D

I agree about the body taking what it needs though. My body took what it needed to make a baby from pre-ejaculation LOL.

I also read that on Cosmo or heard it somewhere else. I heard though that you are supposed to pee before and after, so I normally do that. I never really paid attention to the texture when it came out, I just know that it doesn't stay in for long, and it's a race to get to the bathroom before it ends up on the floor. emoticon

I always pee right after. I read years ago in Cosmo that the friction on a woman during sex can lead to UTI's, pushing things back up into the urinary tract. I have major history of getting UTI's and not knowing until its full blown kidney infection. Because of this my kidneys are very weakened. It said that by getting up and going pee it helps to flush it out and decreases your chances of that. So even while ttcing I always did it. I also read somewhere else, that at the point of ejaculation, our bodies take what we need, and the rest turns to pure liquid and runs out. If oyu ever take the time to notice, semen is not as thick coming out of us then it was going in. If my grandmother could hear me talk of this she'd wash my mouth out with soap! LOL

Yes I totally forgot I ALWAYS need to use the bathroom after... so I usually wash up too. If I don't have panties nearby, I'll use my hand to stop/catch it and wash it afterwards, but I prefer the panties a whole lot.

I never go to sleep after. I have to wash up. I'll let him go and wash up but if I'm in a hurry, I just rush past him in the bathroom. There normally aren't wet spots if I can get to the bathroom quickly. That's a good idea though, the used ones will probably be better then running to the bathroom with my legs together as tight as possible to keep it from dripping...gosh...typing this feels so gross emoticon

I always grab a pair of used panties and stick them between my legs to soak the mess up. :) I can't imagine sleeping on it! LOL If he pulls out carefully, there is no wet spot.

The laying down is recommended for couples with low sperm count, actually. You can theoretically get pregnant in any position, including semen spilled while pulling out of the vagina; however, your chances are greatly increased by using gravity to help as many sperm get to their destination as possible. Many people have low sperm count or slower swimmers as a result of poor health; using as many natural helps as possible helps increase your chances of getting pregnant during a given cycle, reducing the amount of time spent TTC.

My hubby and I are trying to get pregnant and I always lay in bed for a little bit after sex just in case it could help. I have read many testimonials that say it isn't necessary, though. If you think about it, if all you had to do to not get pregnant was stand up after sex, then I think there'd be a lot less usage of Ortho Tri-Cycl., condoms, diaphragms, the shot, pulling out, etc. :)

We are about 3 months into trying and still no luck. We are hoping for the best and trying to be patient! Good luck to you!

It's quite common to have an irregular cycle here and there. It's possible that if you've been having light periods since the BC, you might have been having anovulatory cycles, aka breakthrough bleeding, and now that you're bleeding heavily, it might indicate that you finally ovulated for the first time off the BC. Hope your appt goes well!

Thanks for the info! I am headed to the doctor on Thursday because the first day of my last period was on 9/13 and on Sunday I was spotting and then heavy yesterday and today... I got off BC in June and have been very regular since then, so I wasn't sure why I was early. I know this could mean many things, so I guess I'll just wait to see. I took a test, but it was Negative. I hope nothing is wrong.

Well, semen isn't made up entirely of sperm. Just like your blood, which is made up of cells AND plasma, semen is also a fluid which has live cells (the sperm) in it. Seminal fluid pools at the back of the vagina, and drains when you sit up, etc. That's why you're supposed to lie down for twenty minutes after intercourse - it allows gravity to do its job, keeping the seminal fluid in place to allow the sperm to get into the cervix.

Same here. I always assumed it was normal because of the whole what comes up must come down concept. Since we've been trying to conceive since December, there has been that part of me that has worried that perhaps that is why I have yet to conceive. They say you should lay still (or with legs up) for 10 minutes after sex. I guess that's so some of the little swimmers stay up in there!

Love,
Hillary

Okay, so my boyfriend and I are going to start TTC in January. I am getting so excited because the months seem to go faster and faster. I have always been on birth control. I'm 25 and started them when I was about 16. I am still taking them until January. So, first I don't know how fertile I am. Second, I have a very embarrassing question. I don't know if this happens to everyone or just me and I don't know if this will be a problem, but when my boyfriend ejaculates in me, it comes out. Does that make sense? I know not all sperm travels upstream but is it normal for it to also go downstream emoticon I guess I don't really know how to put it. I'm a little embarrassed. If that's normal then I'm a little relieved but if it's not, then should I talk to my OBGYN or should I have him talk to his doctor? Someone help me please!!!
