Well, we're actually trying right now and have been for over the past year, so obviously we have no set things we want to get done. I have to say I did want to be pregnant a year ago (as that's when we started trying), but because I did not get pregnant yet, I was able to do my first 4 5K's this summer, party a little bit more ;), and get more established at work (been there just over 1.5 years now). I think all of those things were beneficial. I definitely wanted a baby a year ago, but I think everything happens for a reason and we're here, without a baby, for a good reason. It'll happen. :)

We're wanting to pay off a small credit card, have money in savings, and go to Disneyland... Of course, we just found out we have termites in the house to the tune of $2500 to repair! Yikes... so, yeah...
While we're doing that, we're working on shedding a few more Lbs... Hubby has lost 20 pounds so far, and I have about 16-20 I'd like to lose first, so we'll see. :) We are figuring we'll be TTC around tax return time in Feb, hah. That should take care of any bills we have.

I want my beginning SP weight to be the highest I get when I get pregnant. I gained 50-70 lbs with my other 2, so I need to give myself quite the cushion... though, with those two, I ate donuts & cake whenever I wanted to, ha. This time around, this kid isn't getting anything via me that I wouldn't feed a toddler. emoticon

Workin on losing the baby weight so I can get back to "maintaining" my 100 lb weight loss... Ticker reflects PP weight and my goal weight...

We've started making a list of remodeling that we would like to have done prior to baby.

Losing some weight and finishing our remodel is on the list before getting pg....but that should be accomplished in 3 months :)

There's lots of things we wanted to get done with the house and I would've prefered to be in a more established career with a higher paycheck, but my DH and I decided that we don't want to make any more excuses, so we'll definitely be trying come November whatever may come!

Hmm. Nothing. I'm ready now. :) I would prefer to be a smaller weight, but it's not necessary. We own our own home and two reliable baby-ready vehicles (well, one is for baby travels), and we are both finished with our BS degrees and are in good, stable jobs. We are currently remodeling our house, but that will be on-going. :) We travel, but we will continue to travel with baby or without whenever it happens. A baby will not slow us down! Yey! I can't wait...now if only I could get pregnant!

I moved from GA. We went to Gatlinburg a lot because it is close and the cabins are sooo nice! It is a great place to make memories.

what a great topic!
we bought a house and renovated our only full bathroom (it was so worth it!). our two puppies have grown up to fairly well-behaved dogs.
we have enough savings and my husband is working on his toughest year of residency right now.

still to do:
bunches of house projects- we will see how many of those get done
vacation just the two of us- planned for Feb- hopefully I will be pregnant- any suggestions that aren't too far from Atlanta but fun in late winter?
enjoy my last year teaching for a while- I am going to really miss it
read lots of books on parenting and taking care of babies

One of things I wanted to do was run a 10K , which I did in June. Although my running buddy was only 6 months post-partem when she ran it with me. So that's something I can do after baby, as well. But it was really important to me to do it before. I really want to continue leading my life as per usual even after baby. Obviously it will be more difficult and costly, but still. I do a fair amount of travel around the US with my hubby and I'd still really like to do that with baby. We're planning on taking an all-inclusive trip somewhere warm this winter as an early 5-year anniversary trip. I'm hoping there will be a bun in the oven at that point, but if not, I'm living it up!

Love,
Hillary

I've just recently realized why people odn't get married. In Canada you get a Child Tac Benefit and a Childcare benefit of $100 per child under 5. When my second was born, I was getting $860 a month in benefits for my two kids. Two months later my husband got a really good promotion at work, and started making more money. This month, I got $160 for the kids and fined in overpayments they made. I did they math, if my husband and I weren't married, I'd be getting anywhere from $1500 to $2000 a month. I totally understanbd now why more and more people have kids without being married, I lost $700 a month and am forced to pay back $1100.

THERESAMARIEM, don't worry too much about what your kids might think if you guys have different names...coming from a kid whose parents never married, I can guarantee you it hasn't been a problem at all, other than having to explain to officials (teachers etc.) that yes, that signature is my mom's!!

The only other funny thing was, you know the stage when daughters want to marry their dads...well, I was totally convinced I'd marry mine because he wasn't already married to mom! LOL

And, if your names allow it, you can always hyphenate them so the kids have both names (that's what we're planning to do).

I just want to add, to take time and enjoy these thigns you want to do. I can't even remember what I did before kids! lol I think I slept....lol I don't regret having them and actually feel like the me before kids and the me now are two totally different people. But I do have some regrets of what I didn't do. I wish we'd bought a house, I wish we'd gotten a second car, I wish I'd gotten my license, I wish I'd gone to school. I also know all those are things that can be obtained now, just with more difficulty. But they are things I wish I'd accomplished for me to feel good about me, not to make me abetter mother.

Besides for being married, I think I just want to get fit. My boyfriend and I have been together nearly 5 years and if we don't move on now, then I think we'd need to re-evaluate our relationship. I don't want something that is going nowhere. I also don't want to rush him into marriage, we don't need a piece of paper to tell us that we're a family, I just worry about what our child will say when they notice we all don't have the same last names...maybe by then we will.

There isn't much that I want to do before having a baby, except losing weight.

There are some things I'd like to do. Want to travel, and some day take my mother to Greece. I'm hoping to get a book published (or more) but who knows if that will happen or how long it might take.

Would like to be married but we'll see how it goes.

i have tons of things that i want to do before baby, but due to financial reasons dont think that we will get the chance...so we are planning most of all our stuff after kids are older...so we joke that when they turn 18 we will kick them out sell everything and travel the world..hahaha...we will see if that actually works...dobt it though, but i can dream

We've done pretty much everything on our list. For us it was:
-buy a home (we did this 2 years ago)
-have a certain amount in savings specifically for baby costs (we have accomplished this)
-travel (so far in 5 years we have been married we have travelled to: Ireland, Las Vegas, the Grand Canyon, a cruise of the carribbean, Gettysburg, Niagara Falls, and we will be going to London in January (Hopefully, I will be bringing an extra passenger in the belly by then!)
-refinish the bath tub and do some other little things around the house...we're slowly working on all of these.
-get fit! We fell off the wagon for a little bit, but we're getting back in shape so we can chase our kids around!

My husband and I were able to do one thing that was on our 'list' this summer- we went to Los Angeles for a month and did universal studios and disney without kids it was fun!

some other things-I want to have a house, but I'm not sure if that will work out since I'm starting to get impatient.. Lose weight is another one. I'm sure there are others but that's what I've got

My husband and I have really been thinking about things we'd like to accomplish prior to having our first child. He would like to go on a "Big Game" hunt out west. I'd like to renovate the bathroom and possibly the kitchen. We'd like to be in NYC for New Years...just to name a few. What about you?
