After a very long and busy day yesterday, I am doing just that BestMommy... something that makes me happy. I'll be visiting with family all day... lunch with aunt and sister followed by the rest of the day at Mom's with my boys, nephews, more aunts. You get the picture.

Hope y'all have a great day!

Sunny, today at lunchtime I decided to go for a walk to the shops. I went to the library and just generally looked around. I visit the library often; there is just so much available these days at the library, you can borrow DVDs, CDs as well as books.

SOGACLOGGER - I am also curious as to what is happening in 20 days? Could it be retirement from work?

Have a great night
Sandra

Sandra - hope you got out for a while today. We started out the morning with a thunderstorm and heavy rains but ended with clear skies.

SOGACLOGGER - what happens in 20 days? Enquiring Minds want to know...

Have a Wonderful Wednesday, Team.

Good morning everyone,

Last day of April for me and looking forward to my new exercise program for May. It is Autumn for us here and most of my exercise will probably be indoors. The garden I have not got around to yet, just don't seem to find the time to spend outside other than my morning walks.

Bestmommy thanks for the encouragement

Enjoy your day

I generally do not plant the garden until the middle of May when frost threats are gone. I had carrots, chard and leeks over winter and slowly pick away at them. It is such a great feeling seeing all things coming back to life, I love spring!

I have been asked to be a co-leader, also. Spark People has really helped me so far on my journey and I feel I need to give back and try to help others. I have not had much experience being a leader, so I will be learning along the way.

Best wishes to everyone and be sure to ask questions when you need some answers. I will do my best to answer them.

Have a great weekend.

Good evening everyone,

Just got back from a bus tour of the local wineries and it was a pleasant day; friends had surprised us with tickets. The tour was a fundraiser for the local school. We didn't know the other travellers at first but by the end of the day we made new friends. There is something about bus trips. I didn't have too many 'taste's' of the wine, because I had to drive us back home after it. It will also be difficult to count the calories today, so I will just treat it as a treat day, even though I was careful.

Nancy has asked me to be one of the co-leaders of this team and as I told Nancy; I have received so much encouragement on my journey from spark teams that it is time to give back and help others; so I said yes, I would give it a go. This is the first time for me for being a co-leader or even leader of any team during my life time so far so it will be a challenge that I hope to do well in.

A quote that is very appropriate at this time: “The road to success is always under construction.” - Lily Tomlin.

We all face 'road blocks' on our journey and together we will either, go around, climb over or tunnel through, but we will succeed together.

Wishing you all a great weekend
Sandra emoticon

ps I am from Australia and we are one day ahead of you, so my weekend is half over, but it has been great so far.

We have planted 4 types of lettuce, some spinach, green onions, and radishes. I also planted my cilantro in a patio container and hopefully with this warmer temps we are having, all will do well.

We have never planted cabbage, brocolli or brussel sprouts. We probably could - just haven't. I am not a huge brussel sprout fan but someone told me I would be if I ever had them fresh from the garden. I will stop by the garden center tomorrow to see if they have any plants.

We have picked closed to 10#'s of Asparagus. Tonight we are having Pan Roasted Asparagus with supper. I just love it - any way including fresh from the patch and raw in a salad.

Take care and Happy Gardening...I love this time of year!

You must live in a warmer zone. I live in Northeast Missouri and our soil is still too cold
to plant. I have planted my cilantro but bring it in every night.

Do let us know about your garden.

Well we've added more chicks to the farm. None of the hens in our flock seems interested in sitting. We've added 24 pullets and 18 straight run peeps. We will be getting our rabbits soon.

Our garden is tilled and hope to plant this week.

We got 6 inches of snow yesterday. Trees and small shrubs are bending down with the weight of the wet snow on the branches. Yesterday I was scheduled to give a talk to a group about vegetable gardening and I was afraid that because of the weather attendance would be poor but the room was packed! Since I don't speak in front of groups as a regular occurrence I was anxious but once I got started I managed to fill in an hour and a half with garden talk and kept the audience interest! I actually enjoyed doing it because gardening is a subject I love.

OK, we've had snow for a couple days now. Unfortunately that means that when this weather gets to the midwest, it means storms. (We figured this one out with my MIL in St. Louis, when ever we get snow they get storms in the next few days) Hang on everyone!

Holy cow! I grew up in St.L and went to school at UMC! Alway a MIZZOU fan! (we'll be down in Columbia in Oct. and Table Rock Lake in June!) So even though I like the weather up here better, I do miss the 4 or 5 days of spring in Missouri!

Hi everyone! I went back and read through all the posts on this thread and it looks like several of us have a lot in common. I have been a MO girl all my life. I grew up in a small town in SW MO. I did not grow up in the country or on a farm but my mom did and loved it. Fortunately, we have a farm now that is the family farm. We don't live on the farm but we do have a few cattle. I've learned a lot the past few years and I love it.

I love Lamberts too but we always go to the one in Ozark. I haven't been to Lamberts forever. I also love the Cardinal's (world serries champs) and enjoying going to games when I get the chance, which is rare. I ran my first half marathon in St. Louis last year - the Go! St. Louis half. It's is taking place again this weekend but I am not participating. I will be running a 5K in the morning though, weather permitting. I ran the Disney World half in January and will be running the Disneyland half in September.

I am also a Chiefs fan and a MIZZOU fan, even though sometimes they both suck. I'm not a fair weather fan of any of my sports teams though.

I see a lot of you talking about church, prayer, Bible study, and sharing verses and I love it! Our faith is so important. Thanks for sharing.

Well, it is officially pouring here and I need to go to bed. I have to be at the Y at 6:15 in the morning to teach the swimming tri class then go run a 5K after that. I AM NOT a morning person so I have to go to bed so I can get up.

Talk to you all later.

By the way, one of my favorite verses is Philippians 4:13. Good night all.

Hi everybody! Jusst found this team. Looks pretty active, I'm on too many teams that are very slow. I see some from MissourI? I grew up in St. Louis. I never though of this as "country" but the closest neighbor is about 1/4 mile from us. I guess that qualifies?

Having my morning coffee. I hadn't seen this team before but, being a country girl through and through, thought I should join. My hubby and I farmed for many years and have since settled down to do less. I love to sew, mostly in winter, and be outdoors. Gardening is my thing, but I like to just sitt under a shade tree and read, too.

Sharon, As far as the Daniel Fast, I think you are doing amazing so keep up the good work. Remember it is just "one day at a time." You are going to be amazed at how wonderful you will feel. Keep your eyes on Jesus and he will give you the strength to endure.

Another week and good results.. the scale is staying steady not down but not going back and forth so that is a good thing. sometimes it can vary by 2 pounds in the same day..
I'm resisting sweets for the most part(I had a mocha coffee without the whip cream) I have had a few salty snacks but I'm able to really limit the amount compared to before this Daniel fast. Keep me in your prayers I begin week two of not adding sweetners to tea or coffee, no red meat and watching all other sweet snacks... the sweetest thing I'm eating is yogurt..LOL the low fat, low cal 100 calorie kind and sliced fruits.
All have a blessed Sunday.. sharon

Awesome! I think you will not only benefit spiritually but will be rewarded on the scale.

I am still reading in 2 chronicles but almost finished. I used to skip over all that genealogy and history in the Bible but am finding this read most fascinating.

I am working on my study, Finding God in the Broken Places and getting ready to start another study, Blue Jean Faith.

Sunny, I did a lot of soul searching and am cutting out as much sugar as possible, since small trace amounts are even in my homemade bread. I'm not eating cookies, pies or ice cream or red meat for this daniel fast. Your words were just what I needed to be reminded about our God understands and will recognize each cut back (even the small ones). I am also reading John, a chapter each day.
I feel good about these choices, they will be a challenge but also are overall healthier choices, too.

Awe, I understand and I am sure God does too. The good thing is that you only have to do it "one day at a time". Ask him for the strength for the Daniel Fast and he will supply your needs if it is something you really want to do. If it is not, figure out what you can give up for the fast. God will be pleased either way.

Hugs, Sunny

Another great day at church. What is funny is I feel so selfish about the daniel fast the church is starting tomorrow. we as a body are asked to give up certian groups of food for 21 days. I realize how petty I am that I'm not sure I can give up sweets. Sure I've cut way back, I eat better portions but to give up something entirely seems so hard and such a challenge.
Maybe I'm weak but I joined sparkpeople because I could still eat anything, I just had to be accountable for calories.. that has been a struggle but most days I stay within range or slightly below.
I guess the truth hurts.. God would do anything and even gave up his life and I'm worried about failing with sweets.. totally bummed tonight.

I like Lamberts also.. gotta love those throwed rolls..
I have friends that live in and around Cape. It is where we would meet for lunch. plus I love the dollar store and craft store there. haha... it is just sorta a central location, nothing special about the town or anything. I use to live 30 minutes west of Cape in a little town called Sedgewickville. it's so small it doesn't have a stop light..and one way to town is all gravel roads the other way is paved now.
I moved from Sedge a few months after my Dad died. I had plans to move and thought daddy was gonna move with me but he passed 18 days before my last day in my Sedge house. I rescued him from a nursing home in NC. He begged to go home but that is another story...anyway since my mother had attempted suicide and my sister got primary care giver over my dad - she immediately called me to come to NC to get daddy. She couldn't stop us..
WhoHoo..he didn't get to go to his house but he got to go on one last RV trip across TN to Missouri.
Well enough about me, that was in 08 and is 2012..
What a year ahead we have.. keep sparking, keep the faith and please keep in touch..chat later
