I am still getting some petitions trickling in. How come "they" don't understand the risk of contamination to the ground water with a buried system. How will the monitor it and how will they repair it? At least the Sioux are trying to make a statement to protect their lands as a natural resource even though many of them are not well to do. The Missouri borders a parcel of their land just below the pipeline. The Missouri enters the Mississippi at St Louis and that goes down between states as the water flows towards the Gulf of Mexico. That is an awful lot of potential potential ground and surface water contamination if that pipeline starts to leak or ruptures. How are they going to monitor it?

There are lots of Sioux sites. This one mentions the pipeline where they are trying to protect the pipeline from being run under the Missouri River.

Current politicians want to take or potentially ruin much of the lands protected by our park systems. I have added on to quite a few petitions protecting them too, Here is the US Park Service Site that can be used to access information on lots of parks.

Here is a Dakota Pipeline site.

Not as much as I should be. But I have signed petitions, spoke out, and actively praying for them. emoticon emoticon emoticon

Mostly, I've been signal boosting, and I can't believe that I didn't think of posting here. I don't really have funds to spare to donate, but I can sign petitions and spread word. I also have lots of yarn, so if I can eke out some time from holiday prep, I'll be working on warm clothing to send to the camps.

What are you doing in solidarity with the Standing Rock people?
I've sent donations to a couple camps, set aside tips from one day a week to fund a couple activists.
