You didn't take your meds today, because you didn't want to.
You didn't work out, because you didn't want to.
You didn't eat healthy, because you didn't want to.
You didn't stop smoking, because you didn't want to.
Just remember when you aren't here to see your child graduate or to hold you grandbaby in your arms, you didn't want to. When you don't live long enough to enjoy retirement with your spouse, you didn't want to. Wnen you don't get to be at your child/grandchild's wedding, you didn't want to. When you are hooked up to breathing machines or too sick to get up and take a walk, you didn't want to!!
What are we willing to give up, just because we didn't want to!?!?!?!
Now, before I get thrown to the wolves, I need to clarify. This is NOT written for everybody. I had a very healthy, active cousin die suddenly of a heart attack at age 40. I lost my father-in-law to cancer at age 58. My husband lost 2 uncles to car accidents, one as a teen and one in his 50s. This obviously was NOT written for them.
This IS written for my mother. She is 57 and has had bleeding ulcers, intestinal polyps and a heart attack. Yet, she still smokes, doesn't work out, takes her meds WHEN SHE WANTS TO and eats horribly!! This IS written for my mother-in-law who had a QUINTUPLE bypass at age 37 yet she still smokes, eats horribly and doesn't exercise at all.
But mostly, this IS written for me! This is for all the times the alarm goes off at 5:30 so I can work out but I hit snooze because I don't want to get up. This is for the times that I grab a bag of potato chips for a snack when there are better options, but I don't want to take the time to fix them. This is for me, when I pass on a glass of water and grab a soda pop because I want to!
I want to see my kid's graduate and get married! I want to hold my grandbabies some day! I want to spend years of retirement with my husband and not just sitting but traveling the country. And I WILL BECAUSE I WANT TO!!!
Here's to Lookin' Good in 2015!
