Hospitals are terrific for traumatic care; for acute care. They do a really, really good job in saving lives when it's a sudden bleeding emergency. But in terms of chronic care, they're terrible; (that is) in terms of the illnesses that most people have, endure, that cost the most money, that last the longest and ultimately die from. -Dr. Andrew Saul

Ha! Yes, semi-homicidal! I've noticed, however, that as my diet gets cleaner and cleaner, my cravings are fewer (2-3 times a week, usually after lunch), and can be satisfied with a taste of honey or sometimes even with a piece of fruit! And that urge to gobble a Moonpie or Hershey's bar is gone! That is perhaps the best part! I still have a long way to go, and I may never be able to completely get rid of sugar from my diet, but I know I am on the right track...

Sounds delish. I bet the sweet potatoes made it smooth.

Yes, the juices are high in sugar, carrot in particular. But I suppose for someone who suffers the occasional-to-constant craving for sugar, some of these drinks (not the ones with ice cream, mind you), would be a much better alternative to many of the sugary alternatives available! I know that an icy cold glass of freshly made carrot/beet/orange juice is a nice treat for me once in a while, maybe after a particularly hard work out, or on one of those "blah" mornings (I stopped all caffeine consumption a month ago and occasionally miss that zippy rush that it provided). Such a juice is an ideal substitute for those times that I get semi-homicidal due to my sugar cravings. I personally was not particularly creative at first, so this site might provide some nice ideas to a "newbie clean-eater" just as it did for me. I think moderation with these juices, as with everything, is the key.

Hope you enjoyed your Blast From The Past Juice! Thanks for the comments...

As I look down the left edge of this webpage I see just about nothing but sweet juice drinks. That's nice once in a while but for me, I simply put a bit of carrot into the veggie juice that we make every morning just to sweeten it up a bit. Too much carrot juice, and all the other recipes on this website, if consumed regularly, will give a lot of sugar. I agree that most likely all those recipes are very, very tasty and I might like to have a look at one or two for a cold summertime treat. But honestly, I think I could make up my own sweet, raw drinks using carrots, fruits and herbs. For every day juicing, (for me) it's mostly dark leafy greens, cruciferous veggies (cabbages, broccoli etc) jicama, celery, lettuce and stuff like that for deep, nutrition.

Cute site though, thanks.
Best of health to all,
-annie

Oh yah, I'm just remembering a drink I had way back in California in the 60s at a health food store juice bar. It was awesome! It was called "CCC" which stood for Carrots, Carob & Cream. Man, I haven't even thought about that 'till this moment. Thanks for the memory tweak! I might have to make that drink now.
