My mantra for the year

I am not the fastest, I may never win a race
I run because I can, I run for those who can't

Unfortunately I have know too many people during my training season this year who have been diagnosed with cancer. One has already passed away.

Molly- I'm a Buckeye (Ohio)

"I'm a running contradiction....I am a runner and I am lazy. I know that running allows me to enjoy my down time to a greater level. I am a runner first, lazy second. For me, these aren't mutually exclusive terms. Without one, I couldn't enjoy the other."

Thank you so much Bob Schwartz (I Run, Therefore I Am- Nuts!) for this lovely, funny insight into my life.

One i'm trying to remember:

Don't compare yourself to others. We all have to start somewhere.

Another training forum I post on has people doing BRICK workouts, running 10 miles at a time, or swimming and biking for several hours... and I'm here trying to be proud of plodding along at a 5mph pace for a whopping 3 miles... some days I get discouraged when I see their progress.

But then I try to remember that it's not about comparing - it's that I am taking my own steps and my own pace to meet my own goals and, yes, to have fun!

Right on Netty, and I am starting to remind myself to smile when I am running. no matter how hard I am pushing, I make sure to let myself enjoy the moment and smile at being alive and able to do all that I do. Life is good and being a triathlon and a endurance athlete lets me enjoy it so much more.

I really need to start doing this. I start off enjoying it, then I start to stress out over my training & second guessing what I'm doing. When it gets bad my friend tells me..remember you're doing this for fun.

Choose the amount of days per week that you would like to PUSH HARD. Make those days a challenge. Other days let yourself stop and smell the roses.

The best training tip I have ever learned over the years is:
ENJOY what your doing and make your training fun.
