I got this information from the Triathlete articles on Active.com. These are 10 performance tips from Chrissie Wellington. If you have ever watched her compete she always has a pleasant facial expression. Maybe the following will tell you why.

Tip #1 Passion gets you further than gear.
*should be passionate and enjoy the sport and never lose sight of that
*keep the love of sport in mind

Tip #2: More isen't always better.
*err on the side of quality and not quantity
*ironman logs are wonderful but you should not be a slave to them

Tip #3: Don't be afraid to go fast.
*train long, slow and steady = race long, slow and steady
*have to go faster, harder stronger to reach faster times

Tip #4: Rest is as important as training
*Breaks recovery into nutrition, compression garments, getting enough sleep, resting between sessions
*learn to not only relax your body but also your mind

Tip #5: Train your mind too.
*have a bank of positive songs, images, etc. and when the going gets tough you can draw on them to have peace of mind

Tip #6: Have a mantra or two
*she writes things such as smile and never give up on her water bottles and arm bands

Tip #7: Make it hurt.
*learn to train hard enough to hurt and embrace/deal with it so that in a race you can handle it.

Tip #8: Develop an understanding of your own body.
8heart monitors, etc. are good but you need to know your own pace, to control effort and intensity; internalize

Tip #9: Get stronger by getting smarter.
*be prepared to be objective and honest about weaknesses and where you can improve and learn from your mistakes because this is how you grow

Tip #10: Eat!
*be sensible and healthy; consume a sizeable amount of calories
*fuel your body!

Race for something that counts.
*races for women in sport, to spread awareness and inspire and encourage people
*wants to win in a manner that affects change but in a way that sows her passion and love to inspire others.
