OK...Sorry...He missed the mark. He DNF'd.... Not sure what I heard! Thought I saw on the special that he finished in amazing time. Probably got confused with someone else.

Anyway....You are good to go and will do well! Who knows....maybe we'll see you in Kona! :)

CONGRATS and enjoy the ride!

GLAD....Definitely never say never.... Would that woman in her late 70s be the nun? She was in Kona last year at age 79. DNF, but still......had before! There was an 80 year old man and he finished it in like 12 hours! So.....there's hope for us old fogie yet! LOL

Congratulations! I get on spark so rarely lately that it is quite the treat to see a post like this. You are in for an amazing year. Make sure you enjoy every last minute of it. Even savor the toughest moments of training b/c it is for your first IM.

CONGRATULATIONS! Signing up is the first step... LOL I can't wait to follow your training through the next year! What a better way to do an ironman, with friends and having it be a destination ironman. This is what memories are made of!

Best of luck on your training!

Wow! Congratulations! A HIM is my long-term goal; I doubt I will ever attempt a full. Although I don't want to ever say never, at 50 years old I'm not sure I want to take on something like that! On the other hand, there is a woman in her late 70s who does Kona every year....

I'll have to see how the next year plays out, but I need to get through a full marathon first (that in January).

After swearing that I would never do a full Ironman, I signed up for my first one yesterday - IM Germany. Yikes, what was I thinking?!? I've done 2 half Ironman races, and will do a 3rd next month, so I guess it was the logical next move. And a small group from my triathlon team are going. It's a great group, all low maintenance people that I'll love spending time with. I'm sure that I'll go through phases of being excited, then freaking out for the next year!
