Shebad....WTG on the bike thing... Same here...Improving much on the bike. I got a road bike for the first time last February and started computraining classes right away. This had greatly improved my power and speed (between having a new bike and the training). I joined a tri club where we do long rides on the weekends. Haven't gone quite as far as you yet, but working at it. Did 43 miles so far. Would like to do a century ride by fall if possible. Just because!

Did a PB 5K in 28:26. Had dry heaves afterwards. Lovely!

Next race: Women's sprint triathlon June 13. Still recovering some from a nasty virus, but it's only remnants left. So I was amazed at my PB time under such conditions. On the road to recovering fully and prepping for that first triathlon. Second one of season is an Olympic distance one....Yikes

So did a quick walk/run with my dog this morning, then went for a mid day swim -

A girlfriend and I are starting a new plan tomorrow. We both have spin bikes at home and some great podcasts. Our plan is that we are going to get up in the morning and do the same podcast and message each other for accountability. Knowing that someone else is doing it and going to ask means we'll have extra motivation. We're going to do this 3 times a week.
We both like to work out but prefer evening times. Due to issues in our lives, we really need to switch to mornings, so that's the goal!

Other than that, I'm adding in strength training and still running. After my bike rally on June 12, I'll begin training for my first half!

I'm up to a 5K walk and trying to do it using ChiWalking techniques. I'm making progress. I need to get back out there on my bike (haven't rode in a few weeks) and still working on improvements with the swim which is my biggest challenge.

I walk and swim every Saturday/Sunday but haven't been doing enough during the week. Hope to add some yoga in there too.

Did a duathlon in April and had a blast. Ran a 5 mile race the weekend after, and next race is a 10k at the beginning of June. Trying to mix up my workouts this month, I think I'm in a rut. Start training in June for my first full marathon! Yikes!

Ran my first 5K w/o stopping-couldn't wipe the smile off my face and my kids were really proud of me.
Next day went to a training group I've been nervous about trying-same for me Beth-they were all so nice and encouraging even though they are way out of my league. I ran a 2nd 5k w/o stopping and took 1 1/2 minutes of my time!
After the run there is a swimming session. I am doing great with breathing on both sides which was my short term goal.
The bonus is before the swim we had a woman tell her story. I am doing my first sprint tri in August and raising money for a fund. She spoke and told us how the money we raise has helped her. It was really uplifting.
Going biking in an hour.

Happy Mother's Day everyone!

WTG Beth! I LOVE doing things in groups. I don't have a running group, but swim and bike in groups. And as you say....everyone is so encouraging! Even though I'm not as fast as mots (if not ALL) of them. I'm probably the oldest one in both of those groups as well...but no once cares. They are awesome folks!

Today, our 20 miler bike ride was reduced to 14 miles as one couple had to get back for their son's soccer game. Plus....IT WAS SOOOOOOOOOOO WINDY OUT!!!! Up to 35 mph winds with gusts way over that! A couple of times, I thought my bike was going to take off with the wind and leave me behind to fend for myself, but I managed to make it stay with me. So it was a workout just to hang on to the the thing!

As soon as I got home, I ran a 5K. I've struggled with my quads recovering from a nasty virus that had me down for over two weeks. But they felt good today. The hams were barking some, but not too bad. I ran the 5K in a perfect 30 min., so given the circumstances, I was quite pleased.

If you are coming back from an illness or an injury, have hope...much hope. Work slowly back into it and you'll be back into before you know it! It is NOT like starting over again. You pick it back up much, much faster than that. :D

Happy Mom's Day to you Mom's.

I ran with the running group I have been intimadated by - I feel so slow but they are so encouraging and friendly.

Ran 6 miles at 6 am - yay!! Feels great to have that done already. And the group support is awesome, so different than running alone.

Finally back into the pool a few weeks ago. Love to swim - hooray for summer

Beth

Today: BACK IN THE POOL after three weeks off! Went fairly well!
