To be totally honest, I feel pretty sexy even at my weight. I've never had trouble finding partners, and have always gotten positive feedback about my body and overall looks.

My "sexy" motivation is more about performance than looks. I aim to please the people I love to love, and I understand how strength, endurance, and flexibility can improve certain aspects of a relationship. emoticon

I already feel sexy most of the time, but sometimes my confidence wavers and this upsets me.To have a body that is more "conventionally attractive" would serve me well in certain situations and prevent self-esteem fallout:)

I'm quite certain losing weight will help me get a new job. I hate to say looking sexy helps with getting a job, but people want to work with other attractive (or at the least, "normal" BMI) people. Gaining weight has really slowed my career advancement. Nobody wants to hire the "fat" girl. In the meantime, I'm completing a dual masters degree, trying to make the best of the situation while I drop a few pounds.

looking sexy again has been my main motivation this time... and it's worked better than anything else I have tried. There are so many things I want to do and wear... I'm working towards it.

I think that I definitely have times in all stages of my weight where I feel sexy. I guess I'm hoping I will feel sexy *more often* when I'm stronger, have more definition and less weight that I'm tugging around ;-)

Its hard anyway for me to think of myself as sexy since I was a tomboy who wore boyish clothes in my younger years and still do today. This will always feel like Im a complete joke whenever Ive tried the whole makeover attempts in the past where I never even had the heart for it anyway right from the start. I think the advice about not waiting until you lose weight before doing the things youve always wanted to do in your life and to even use you mindset to start acting like you actually have reached your goal weight and carry yourself the same way you would once youve lost that weight already. Thinking on this other level in the same approach and make believe youve reached that desired look,

I started Bodytrim on Tuesday 20th july weing 112kgs and my first goal is to loose 13kgs. Its 5 weeks following Bodytrim now and Ive lost 6.4kgs which is astonishing to me, because I am actually on track to reaching my first short tern challenge. Its almost 10 weeks since I began Bodytrim now and I went of track for 3 days in my 8th week and gained 2.5kgs but I got right back on the eating plan and lost 1.5kgs the week after so Ive lost exactly 7kgs so far. Ive broken my weightloss challenge int

Tazzy - you hit the nail right on the head. It's all about *feeling* sexy in your own skin, and it will shine through. :)

And yeah, it's a big motivator for me too (and is apparently working, if all the flirting going on at the gaming convention last week was any indication! SCORE!)

The funny thing is, when the door is closed and its me and my boyfriend alone, i have all the confidence in the world and I feel sexy. But its when i'm at work, out with friends, or sitting on the couch that I feel so self conscious about how I look.

I'm a size 18, my goal is to be a size 12 by September. I picked size 12 because I am in a few weddings in the next 2 years, and last time i was in a wedding the largest size dress that most dress stores were size 12. I ended up crying in 1 store because I couldn't try anything on and had no idea of what looked good on my curvy body.

So I'd like to look sexy in a bridesmaids dress and a suit

Wanting to look sexy is definitely a huge motivator for me. HUGE. I'd love to be like some of the other people on here who feel confident in their bigger bodies, and for physical activity like running, exercise, etc., I do have confidence, but for sex appeal? No. I know I do not look my best, so that is definitely a huge motivation for me. I want to feel and look sexy and right now I do not, but I'm working on it.

I do use looking sexy as a motivator. Granted it is true that sometimes I feel sexy right now at my heaviest weight ever, but I always find myself thinking I would look sexier if I was in shape enough to wear my old skirts and pants again. lol. I am "that person" that cuts out pictures from magazines for motivation. =)

I agree. When I was pregnant for the first (and only) time, it was the first time I'd ever worn sleeveless or "fitted" shirts out in public. I realized there was more to my body than "looking sexy"

I used to have looking sexy as a motivator to lose weight, but then I realized I'm sexy because I'm me and my body is beautiful no matter its size.

Right now I'm at my heaviest ever (3 weeks post-partum) and you know what? I've never felt as beautiful or as sexy. Giving birth really gives you a completely new appreciation of your body...

Yah being sexy is a big motivator for me, just like everyone else who posted! It was always so hard in high school, seeing these pretty thin girls have boyfriends and going to parties. I always thought it was because I was over weight that I didn't have fun like that. Looking back, I am glad I didn't. Because in my own way, I did have fun. I just didn't realize it at the time. Sexy is a frame of mind!!

and I agree...joe you are looking sexy!

Yeah, looking sexy is definitely a motivator. So is hearing your husband say "You're starting to look good; you're losing your gut" He's such a sweet talker, isn't he? [I already knew that I was looking good. I picked up this kimono style top that makes me look great!!]

I am an incredibly over-weight woman. my wife is very tiny. Literally, our closets full of either XL or XS sizes. We often talk about the idea of size in relation to sex appeal.
I use to believe that our sex life was suffering because she wasn't attracted to my size. But after being together for over four years, I've come to understand that it's not my size that isn't sexy, it's the way I *feel* about my size. She sees the way I look at myself in the mirror... and it defiantly has an effect on our physicality, but it isn't the weight, it's the confidence.

Losing the weight for me is about having the confidence to FEEL sexy. As a fat girl I don't feel like I deserve it (even though there are some very sexy overweight women). So I'd take this conversation one step further and say that sexy is not only a matter of opinion, but also a matter of perspective.

I think you hit the nail on the head. It might initially start as trying to be more appealing for others but as one continues and loses the weight one gains more confidence.

The confidence and improvement in self esteem also helps to draw people to you. It isn't just the pounds you lose but the positive attitude you gain.

It is most definitely a matter of prefrence. I honestly prefer girls with some meat on their bones, however since this has to be about what I think looks and feels better I am shooting for that goal.

Right now I'd settle for just looking healthy! But, honestly, sexy is a matter of opinion, because I do find myself very drawn to short, round, nerdy dudes. Think Kevin Smith/Silent Bob...

In all honesty this is one of my biggest motivators. I am and have always been a big guy. I was born 13 pounds 12 ounces for hells sake! And One of my fears is loosing all the weight then being attracteive to people but having their attraction only be my body. But recently I have changed that some too. The more I loose, the better I feel, the better I feel, the more confidence, and drive I have. It has become more about me, and less about looking sexy for someone else and that feels like an awesome change.

The body is a sacred place for most and very private...especially if there are body issues, but having been in a situation to watch other dance sky-clad(nude) around a fire was a beautiful thing and I was not offended by their weight, curves or anything else they may have been embarrassed to show. Just very liberating if done in the right context/setting! I myself was not brave enough to go there, but maybe next summer.

Brightest Blessings!

On that topic ... I went to a "fetish arts fair" last weekend and I was so impressed with this very brave, very curvy gal who did a strip tease dance (down to pasties and a thong - obscenity laws and all). I never would have had the courage to do that 60 pounds ago ... heck, I wouldn't do it now, lol.

Looking and feeling sexy was the motivator that got me started on this journey, and it's still WAY up there! Meanwhile, I've added fitness goals and discovered all the cool things I can do now that I couldn't before. Still wanna be sexy though!

I most definitely used "Looking Sexier" as my motivator. Scroll over my avatar and look at the fat guy in the bottom pic.......go ahead, I'll wait...

See? C'mon, I look way better now and even better right this second. I feel sexy all-the-time and my co-workers make that happen, not me.
