My 8 year old son gives me hope. Every time I look into his big blue eyes. Every time he asks me if I'm still exercising. Every time he exercises with me (even trying to bellydance). Every time I see or hear him laugh. Every time I see his smile!.

I don't exactly know what gives me hope, or where it comes from.
I only know I have hope ... sometimes it's all I got left to hang on to.

I'm blessed to have a lot of sources of hope and motivation in my life but you're post reminded me of something that happened about 10 days ago. I was at the gym, 3 weeks into my new routine, huffing and puffing but smiling like a loon.By now I'd been coming often enough to recognize some people and be recognized so I wasn't too phased when this woman said hi to me in the locker room. I was however thrown when instead of moving on, she kept standing there. After a moment's hesitation, she told me that she'd seen me coming into the gym consistently for the past couple of weeks and though she didn't know me,she was proud of me and wanted me to keep up the good work. I had no idea that a pat on the back from a virtual stranger could mean so much but her words kept me on a high all day. So lesson learned-sometimes strangers give you hope.

What gives me hope is my future.. I just have to remind myself that this isn't about losing weight its about changing my life and gaining a healthy lifestyle. I have struggled my whole life with weight and I'm sick and tired of being overweight. So you know what I just keep telling myself everyday to just take it one day at a time and that is what keeps me going and gives me hope :)

Missmagenta, my first time around using Sparkspeople I wasn't that active visiting or using the message boards because I was afraid to. I don't know why but I decided this time I was going to make more of an effort and to participate with other people. It seems to be really helping with my motivation. I quit smoking a yr and 1 mth ago which I thought would be the hardest thing I would ever had to do. If I can quit smoking I should be able to do this easily! emoticon

Hmm what I wonderful post. I always enjoy topics like this. Lets see what gives me hope:

My daughter-I dont want her to deal with the pain and rejection I have felt from my weight. So to steer her in a positive direction, I must be a positive influence.

All the sparkpages and friends here. you all mean so much to me, even though I have never met you.

My mind. It is strong and sharp. I am caring and empathetic, even though I cant show that much at work. I know who I am and I am a good person. It has taken a long time to be able to say that. I want my body to ollow my mind.

My hubby. He loves me so much, I want to make him proud.

Hmmm I will ponder this some more! Thanks for the post.

It's baby weight be gone time!!!

I think I get my hope from my 11 y/o daughter. She has lost about 15 lbs and its really encouraging to me. I don't want her to struggle with any of the issues that I have.

I also get hope from movies and books. Its a relief to watch someone else struggle and overcome!!

That's so sweet RJONES8194. I haven't been on many pages. I've been on the message board a lot, but I don't have any friends on the site and I always feel kinda strange going around people's pages if I'm not friends with them. I'm not sure why.

I have been reading some of the blogs that are in the stream things on the side of the page. It's always interesting hearing people's ideas and points of view.

I'm reading The Spark right now too. It's really helping me stay motivated and see hope.

Lately I have been visiting a lot more of other members pages and blogs. What their great and not so great moments have been and how they were able to use that to grow and have confidence things would be all right. Some are so entertaining you can only laugh with them and others make you want to give them a hug of encouragement. I don't seem to focus on my own silly problems as much. All the happy endings here is what give me hope. :o)

Come to think of it, exercise does too. I like feeling strong. While I was putting my vision collage together I noticed most of the images I put on were people working out or doing things that made them look strong and proud, rather than fashionable and pretty like I thought I would.

What a great question. I never thought of it until tonight when I read your post. Mine are:

1. My spirit. God has blessed me with a spirit that always seems to bounce back whenever I fall and I can usually see how things could have been worse.
2. My family and friends, including my new SP friends who are making this lifestyle change so much better
3. Movies, TV, books, magazines are a wonderful way for me to relax
4. Exercise. While I hate getting started, I love how I feel after I have walked on a treadmill for as long as possible or taken an outside trail

I've been visiting www.givesmehope.com a lot lately. It helps me a lot when I'm feeling blue.

But they all seem so extraordinary, so perfect. It's hard to seem them in my life.

So I started a list of things that give me hope:

1) my dog. She's always happy to see me.
2) my friends and family. They're always there for me when I need it, and even when I don't.
3) books. No matter what's going on, how down I feel, I can pick up one of my favorite reads and remember just how great things can be.
4) www.givesmehope.com, obviously.

What gives you hope?
