There are plenty of options at lower altitudes, heck the surfing is still mint right now; however, there is nothing like surfing and skiing in the same week (although generally requiring a 5/4, but who cares emoticon )

Getting more and more reports of falling temps in the high altitudes, and yes a flurry here and a flurry there...nothing sticking quite yet, but I believe we are getting close! emoticon

please stop! Winter is so long here. Please don't wish it on us sooner!

I do XC ski though. Just don't want to talk about it yet. Still trying to hike while everything is still green.....although, that is quickly changing. :(

I have a friend who swears by telemark skis, and one day he might actually win the battle, but so far I have not ventured there. Enjoy though, I hear it is a blast emoticon

My report came from slightly east of TRide in the Southern San Juans, so I don't know that Summit County got any snow, but I am still banking on ABasin early October :) Enjoyed the Sierra's through July 4th, and a slight side trip to Argentina, so it isn't like I have been away too long, but the sooner the better. In the meantime, it is surf time emoticon

Will be using my newish XC skis as soon as I can once the snow starts sticking out here....and likely back on the tele skis as well! Until then, I'm training for a half on my new running shoes, and mountain biking as often as I can!

surprised my denver buddy didnt call yesterday if there were flurrie! he will be at ABasin as soon as its open. He worked in QC at Aggregate Industries so he was assigned the Guanella Pass road construction job last year. he sent me a pix msg last summer, as he pulled over for "lunch" which turned into 2hrs of hiking on Longs Peak.

The snow started flying in Colorado yesterday, and while nothing stuck from yesterdays flurries, I am hopeful that we will have opening day at at least ABasin by the first part of October.

As far as skis and snowboards go, I have a 2012 K2 Believer waiting to be broken in, and 2012 K2 Hellbent Skis. Everything is ready to rock and roll except for that fine powder. emoticon For those that have not purchased yet, REI has a great sale on K2 skis until 09/05.

Best of luck to you in facilitating a bike. I hope you find some fun outlet for the winter months. emoticon

What are you guys planning on doing when the snow flies in a few months? Do any of you ride CX? (if you know the abbreviation... you do) Whos getting new snowshoes or XC skis? I would love to get a fatbike... but dont have the $1500 to facilitate it... :/
