Week of October 28th-NOVEMBER 3 rd.

I have had a fun and full day. I shopped craft fairs with my sons girlfriend and her mother. I was so happy they asked! I made it to the gym for cycle class and weights and weighed in. I was up 1.5 pounds, but still free and below goal and lower than I had been. Always room to work at it for sure!

Congratulations on the weight loss Joan. I plan to make out my menus for the week this afternoon. Will shop tomorrow after church.

WOW!!!!!!!! I'm running really late this morning. Thing is I did not wake up at my normal/usual 3 a.m. it was more like 5:30. Not sure I would have woke up then but for whatever reason I was dreaming Dr. Pomery was taking out my tonsils, and I kept trying to tell him, ''no its my hip!!!!!!!" The crazy things we dream.

Yes Nell, I made it to TOPS, I was tired, but I went and I'm always glad when I do. I had another loss of 1 pound which I'm happy about. My two sister's were talking as well about making out the Thanksgiving list. We are not sure yet if Mike and his family are going to get to be here or not.

Michelle, I hear you about work and the first of the month. I ran to Walmart around six this morning and they were already getting busy.

Jane, great job on the weigh loss, every ounce lost adds up just like every pound gained adds up.

Cold right now, but suppose to be a really nice day out. Enjoy it if you can.

Good morning. I have to start preparing for Thanksgiving, get my lists made. Today I'll clean the range hood in anticipation of a heavy cooking season.

So we had about 100 kids. I was glad I bought that extra candy!but, not glad that I ate 3 pieces. I took some of the leftovers to work so that helps the cause a bit.

I took Mom to the doc yesterday. Mom has a hernia right next to her pubic bone. It's big enough that you can see it. If she were younger the surgery to repair wouldn't be a big deal, but she can't survive anesthesia, so she'll have to live with it. It won't kill her, but it will be more and more uncomfortable.

Lots to do this morning before the rain starts again.

Well, I am glad that it looks as if you are finally going to be able to get something done to ease your pain, Joan! December 10 is a while yet, but as long as you know there is relief coming, that's something.

Rain coming down in sheets again this morning! Oh for some sunny days! Our farmers are still trying to find a spot to harvest their soybeans. The fields are so saturated, that when they get the big equipment on them, the field gets all torn up.

Hey Everyone.
Surgery set for Dec. 10th. If I don't have it then, it would be sometime next year before I could get in for surgery. Dr. Pomery said the ball has been loose for sometime and has been slipping and that's what has caused the screws to break. June & I had gotten to his office early because it was raining and Ann and we were not too sure where we were going, they were so nice they took us in early.
The hotel we stayed at was a very nice place but their idea of a handicapped room and my idea are totally different. I told them twice when I called twice that I needed a high toilet, oh yes we have those, well they didnt. We tried out there different rooms before finally finding a toilet that was high enough that I could use, but it still was not what I know as a handicapped toilet.

TOPS today, I think it has finally stopped raining here. Hope everyone is having a good week.

We had one person for trick or treat. We live in the country so not many kids around. The one that does come is a relative.

Blanche we don't even trick or treat here any longer. They get to go downtown and they have booths set up. They said it seemed like there were a 1000 people down there last night. It is done from like 5-7. No more door to door in most towns. Times they are changing.

Wow November already. Time to get ready for the coming holidays. To say I'm not impressed would be an understatement. I know bah humbug. But It just get so busy, spendy, and then the fun is just sapped out of it. With my grandson getting up there in age it just isn't the same.

I'm up early, my son will get here any moment to leave his car while I take him to the airport. I'll pick him up Sunday morning. This afternoon I take Mom to the doc, if she remembers. Last time she forgot. I'll speak to the doc before she sees Mom so we are all on the same page. The last thing I need is for the doc to tell Mom about all the wonderful tests she can undergo at Medicare's expense. That's just wrong.

I'm with you on the tests, Nell. When my father-in-law was having problems, they wanted to do testing. I asked if there was anything to be done for his problems if it was what they were sure it was. They said "no, nothing to be done". I said "Then it is just to satisfy your curiosity", which raised their eyebrows, but they admitted that was all it would do. So I said "No!". They said "But it won't hurt". That was beside the point!

Nell, tree removal is sooo expensive. You are right. But I was reminded why this AM as I came home from the cafe and saw our neighbors having a big one removed. 5 guys, 2 big trucks, a chipper shredder. Lots of cutting equipment and all the guys able to climb very high in the tree. Nothing easy about it. I hope it goes well for you! Also I am so sorry to hear about your dear Moms decline. How wonderful that she is in her 90’s. I hope you are able to keep her in a safe environment.

Happy Halloween gang! I had to run out and buy extra candy as the weather has turned out so beautiful today! The kids will be out In Full force!

Joan, good luck at the orthopedic appointment! Finally you'll get some answers!

The medical center at Mom's community called yesterday, they said she had come in complaining of a lump in her side that was hurting her, but they wouldn't see her unless I was there (thank goodness). I called Mom, she said the lump moved around and hurt all the time, but a few hours later had forgotten about it, her memory is gone. We have an appointment tomorrow late afternoon, it's just a formality. We won't be doing any tests, there isn't anything to be done in her condition. She's 91, she already has two fatal brain diseases, do we really need lots of tests just to satisfy curiosity? I just hope she remembers this appointment, she forgot the one two weeks ago, even after two reminders.

Two little girls went off to school very excited for the day. One was dressed as a cheerleader and one as a cattle showman. We go down at 9AM to watch the Halloween Parade at school. At least it is warmer this year than last year.
I'm missing exercise class, which I hate to do so that I can be there for the parade.
Joan, I am with you in spirit at the orthopedic meeting. I'll be anxious to hear the results.
Hope you have your tree taken care of , Nell. That's a lot of money to have to spend on tree removal!
I have a stream behind my house. The locust trees on my side are growing and healthy. On the other side, they are dead and dying. What the heck????

I never made it by yesterday, the day began in the run and ended the same way. Today June & I are going to Louisville for my appointment with the Orthopedic doctor tomorrow morning. I cannot tell you how excited I am for this appointment. I'm taking my tablet with me and if I have internet service I'll be in touch.

WW's was great as usual. I was down 1/4 loud and I was happy with that. Fewer people were there. Last night was truck or treat here, it was changed due to a lot of rain coming in. I do not give candy out, I cannot and could not trust myself with candy in my house and I don't even turn my porch light on.

Jane T, it sounds like you had a very good meeting. Understanding of those that may be different from us can go a long way to healing.

The cleaners come this morning, then the tree guys come to remove a really big, double trunk dead tree next to the house. That's over $7000 in tree work in one year. I wonder why the oaks are dying?

WW last night. I gained with all the whoopla that has been going on around here. I am glad all my relatives want to come see me and stay with me, but it's really hard to stay on plan with all the eating out. They also bring in potato chips and ginger snaps, etc. which I don't usually have in my house. When we are sitting around visiting, the foods I usually don't eat really call to me. So I have a couple of weeks with being strictly on plan!
The little girls set up a light on my porch that makes light "ghosts" float through the air. The dog can't sleep with that strange stuff going on. He begs to come in and sleep with me. I finally had to turn the ghosts off!

HELLO EERYONE.. IT IS SAD TO SAY SHOOTING ARE HAPPENING ALL THE TIME..WHEN YOU ARE NOT SAFE IN SCHOOL OR CHUCH IT IS SAD. ALL THIS HATRED AND VIOLENCE IS GETTING US NO WHERE. WE NEED TO COMETOGETHER TO MMAKE OUR COUNTRY SAFE AND STRONG AGAIN. HOPE EVERYONE GETS A GOOD NIGHTS SLEEP I HAVE TO GET UP EARLY FOR A BONE DENSITY TEST.

At my WW meeting yesterday, one of the members is Jewish. She boldly got up at the end and with nothing but love extended the opportunity to anyone interested to ask anything they want to know about her religion. She was so kind and even gave her email out freely to those who were too embarrassed to speak out. Our meeting was more than nutrition, it was finding common ground amongst all of us. Opportunities to be kind and show love to our fellow man are everywhere even when you least expect it.

Our pastors have always received a gratuity, pretty much equivalent to what you'd pay a justice of the peace. The pastor or priest has to pay an annual licensing fee to the state to be allowed to marry people, it isn't just a part of the job. The wedding party also has to pay the sexton and the organist who have to work on their days off. Some people pay soloists, some have good enough voices in the church who will gladly sing. I had a friend who grew up in the church Perry Como belonged, he was a friend of her father, and as a gift he sang at her wedding.

The hatred in this country seems to keep getting worse. I don't know how bad it's going to get before we reach a turning point. It's very depressing.
I understand that there is some cleaning after a wedding but I don't think we pay our custodians that much and the pastor's fee isn't included in that charge. It used to be that a pastor just considered weddings part of their job but I guess that doesn't apply anymore.

I was telling hubby yesterday our worry for our country shouldn't be terrorist because we are doing a great job of hurting each other. We alone will take down our country. Such hate and all this bickering like children from both sides isn't going to fix that anytime soon.

Joan sorry your wedding was such a mess but in years to come you will laugh about this. Maybe not today but soon. lol.

I have nothing much here. Hubby did take a walk with me yesterday as it was beautiful and I really gave him no choice. But heck if it works I'll do it again. lol.

I have never understood hatred of a whole group of people, not even when I was little. It's hard to watch the news of these crazies and their victims. I don't feel that I am surrounded by hate, I guess they are invisible until they do something extreme.

A wedding to remember! Those who were there will never forget that one! I think I might have left....had it not been my nephew.

Yes the hate....it surrounds us. And all we can do is try to be a light in our world. My heart aches for those who fear to go to their church now because of so many shootings., Church and schools ought to be safe havens. Neither is any more. My little girls were playing "Lock Down Drill" this weekend. I learned lots about protecting myself is someone breaks in. And I'm glad/sad that they know all this at such a young age.

I cannot believe the gate we seem to have in our country. I was just heart broken to hear of the Synagogue shooting in Saturday, all because they were Jewish. A few days before that in Louisville not far from where Benny lives two people were shot down in Kroger, why??? Because they were black. The observation of their religion or color is not mine those where the reasons each killer gave.

Have we lost the desire to BE KIND to one another. My heart goes out to the families that this has happened too. Being kind to others cost nothing.

Boy Joan @KENTUCKYWOMAN that wedding sounds like a feat of endurance for sure. I sure hope your body cooperates and responds to the rest and TLC today. So I used to think the same thing that church members should not have to pay at their churchwedding, but the money goes to pay the pastor for his time, the custodians for clean up in the bathrooms, the sanctuary , and foyer areas.

So the Hot Cider Hustle 5 K was today and it went great all accept for the pouring rain during the 2nd half. My sons girl and I just chatted up a storm the whole way so it was fun. We talked more about WW and setting goals and keeping it realistic and doable. We had a great time. She even invited me to go to the holiday craft fair with her and an her Mom! I was so excited for the invite, and excited to go next weekend!

Wow, that was quite a wedding day. It seems more people are having weddings in other places so maybe that has something to do with being disorganized when you don't have someone in charge. I don't know it it's happening in other places but around here a lot of churches are charging for weddings. Personally I don't think they should charge if it's a member but I know the one we go to and one other one that charge $300 for members.

Wow. I was more organized than that when I was 10. Maybe the best man bailed because he figured out what he was getting in to and wanted out. Rest your hip today!

I feel better today, we left church right after communion because I was starving.

This was the last Sunday on Daylight Savings Time, next weekend we get that extra hour of sleep, and sun for going to church.

Good morning all, and can you believe we are in the last few days of October. Goodness time is going way too fast. However, I can't wish that Thursday gets here fast enough. No quote this morning I'm just too tired. So the story of the wedding, all I can say is if these two stayed married as long as the wedding last, then they are going to be married a really long time.

I've never experienced such dis-organization in my life. We were to arrive at 1 for picture to be taken, at 2:30 the only pictures that had been taken were by me with my cell phone and my camera that I smuggled in. Finally at 3:30 they started taking pictures. Now Terry, Ruthann's husband, Coty's Papaw had been there since 10 a.m. and they had no snacks, no water for people nothing but a Porta Potty. If we don't have water, we don't need said Porta Potty. You've heard of Bridezella, well, times that by three and you got how this thing is going. Terry thought he was taken out there to help set stuff up, but Terry said he'd been there all that time and had done nothing because everyone was waiting for Natalye to tell them what to do, and if anyone tried to do anything on their own, they got yelled at. Finally the wedding did take place, it was so cold the entire time, wind blowing and once in a while the sun would peep through but not long enough to warm us up. No hot coffee either, I would have killed for a cup of hot water. I had brought a bottle of water with me, but that was long gone. It was after 8 before I was dropped off at my house, and we would have gotten to leave sooner, but all the chairs and tables that were borrowed from the church had to be returned by Sunday School time this morning. However, everyone bailed and all that was left was Coty to do this on his own, so Coty's family we stayed to help break down tables and chairs and load them on the trailer. Like I said if their wedding last as long as the day was, they will be married for a good long time, and I do hope it last.

This morning my hip is asking the question, ''why didn't you bring a pillow to sit on??" I should have, but had no clue I'd be sitting in one place that long. No one had eaten that had to show up early with the exception of me who I did have some lunch because I wanted to make sure I did not hang out at the table that I expected to have some mints, nuts something. They were watching out for all of us, there were lots of tables but no food.

The meal after the wedding I'm not sure if it was all that good or if everyone was just so famished they didn't care.

I wish them the best and I also hope they will always be happy. In their eyes they probably think everything was great, but that's from being young and in love.

Here's to a great week ahead, and set yourself a new goal for this week, it gives us something to work toward and sometimes we just need that.
