Long morning at the cafe today. I am so glad to be off my feet now. I am looking forward to the Hot Cider Hustle 5K tomorrow with my sons girlfriend. It may be rainy, but that’s ok. I have a raincoat!

Oh Joan that is just awful. With the wedding today finding a replacement will be easy. Pick a friend that stood by him and will literally stand by him. His dad????


I feel like a new person. Rest was a wonderful thing and I slept in late this morning. Well late for me....6:30.

today is shopping and not much of anything else. I will get done a few chores tomorrow.

Congrats on the loss! Looks like the steroid effect is starting to wear off!

Coty will find someone else to be best man. Someday this drama will all be a story to tell his kids and grandkids.

I woke up sick this morning, good thing I don't have much to do today. I may postpone even that.

It's raining! Great! Guess the porch won't get its coat of preservative. And guess I'll have to figure out what to do with two teen aged boys after they sweep out the shop and garage. I did make them a pie, but that will be gone in no time.

First off, kicked some poundage butt at weigh in yexterday, down 4 pounds. Still have more to go before I get back to where I was before all the steroids. I'll get there.

Second here's the latest wedding drama. Yesterday with no explanation the guy Coty ask to be his best man bailed on him. No excuse, reason nothing. Last night was the rehearsal dinner, and it was held outside and it was cold and drizzling rain, so good those that had to show up for that are not sick this morning.

My garage door light got fixed yesterday, it was a loose wire. This morning the HVAC guy is supposed to be here for fall furnace check (for which I paid $160 last spring, they never answered the phone for the air conditioning check). I hope the furnace lasts the season, I'll get a new company next year.

The rain starts this afternoon, the remnants of Hurricane Willa becoming the first Nor'easter of the season. At least there won't be snow with this one.

Good morning. Last night had a headache and was so tired I was asleep by 8:30. Haven't done that in forever.

It was rainy here yesterday and had off site flu clinic. Nothing like transporting supplies in the rain.

Yesterday I made and canned applesauce. Once a year we can get Northern Spy apples. It's an old variety and nobody is planting that variety any more. They make the best applesauce and pies. They don't keep long, so when they are available, it is a busy time processing them.
Two grandsons are visiting tomorrow. I'm hoping the weather is good so we can get the deck painted with preservative. What do you do with two teen aged grandsons if you don't have something for them to do?
A friend will be 100 tomorrow. I haven't heard of any party, but I will send some flowers.

Finally I had a better night last night. Not perfect but better. Raining here this morning, got my flu shot yesterday. My dentist check up revealed a very small cavity which will be taken care of Monday.

HI EVERYONE HAD A DOCTOR APPOINMENT THIS MORNING. ALL WENT WELL. MY ARM FEELS BETTER. I WAS FEELING FLUY THIS MORNING BUT BETTER TONIGHT.HOPE EVERYONE HAS A GOOD NIGHT.

Late check in gang. PT went well. She said my neck and shoulder muscles were tighter than 2 coats of paint lol. Gotta work on that I suppose. Good night all!

It is sunny today even though it is cold although a little better than yesterday. Hoping for a few more days without rain. We had a lot early in the month and it doesn't dry up as easily as during the summer when it's warm and everything is growing.

Thanksgiving is 4 weeks from today, Christmas is 2 months from today. I need to start thinking about Christmas gifts now so I won't be pressured when the time comes.

I got my flu shot yesterday when I picked up Mom's prescription. Today the garage door repairman will return to figure out why the light no longer works.

I'm a little tired today. Didn't sleep well last night. I seem to have those nights from time to time.

Nell, I've been thinking that is what I need to do, because I think if those veins this doctor is talking about and they are in the very same shape as they were years ago when I had the vascular surgeon in Louisville and she never, ever said anything about doing a procedure on those veins. My concern is this hip thing right now, those veins have been with me since I was in my 20's.

Blanche, my Mom had acupuncture many, many years ago for pain and it did help her. I'm thinking it was for the Arthritis she had in her neck.

Glad your garage door is fixed, Nell! Nice you had one car out, so you were not too inconvenienced.

Hooray for doctors appointments that happen within a week. I'm dreading the recovery for you, but you sure can't go on this way. And a positive attitude is 9/10 of the battle.

Jane T, hope you get some relief from your neck pain. Most of us are old enough so our bodies need a little tweaking here and there.

Has anybody been to an acupuncturist? I'm going to research that. It sure won't fix loose screws in hip devices, but it might be worth a try for me.

The garage door is fixed, it was a broken cable. The light doesn't work now, I'll change the bulbs and see if that's the problem.

Joan, did you get the disc from the ultrasound? I think I'd run that by a vascular surgeon in the big city before any vein surgery.

I have to get Mom's new prescription today, and get a flu shot.

Good morning. I've been watching the weather and oh my big chance of rain for the outdoor weeding. Good news is these young people were smart enough to put in place a back up plan, so if it rains it will be a church wedding.

Had the ultrasound done on the legs yesterday and it did last a full two hours and the room was so cold. I had shorts on no shoes no socks and I was freezing. The outcome is he want to clean the veins out and I'm not sure what that would be but he did say it would not be vein stripping. I told him if my hip issue and he said, get the hip taken care of and then we will talk again.

WW's was great yesterday as always. The scale is still being a tease, but I'm staying on track, no matter what, one day I'll get on that scale and there will be a major whoosh.

Beautiful day here yesterday and we are to have plenty of sunshine today but colder. Have a great day everyone.

So glad things worked out well for you Nell and that you still had a vehicle to get around in. Joan I am also so glad you were able to get into that doc so quickly and that you were able to gather everything needed for the appointment.

I see my PT tomorrow for my neck. I believe the steroid helped a bit, but in my mind there is still room for improvement. I sure hope PT takes the edge off.

The garage door guy's service window is 11-1. I'm so glad hubby was out when it broke, so one car is available. I have a couple of urgent errands this morning so I can use his car.

That's wonderful how quickly you got a doc appointment, Joan! Isn't it amazing in this day and age to have test results on disks that you can carry with you? Your WW and TOPS groups will want to hear how you are going through this kind of stress while sticking to your plan. Your medical outcome will be so much better with less weight on you, and with the general good health that comes from eating well. Will you be getting a new joint or repairing the device you have? I'll bet there are new and better devices available now.

Good morning ladies. So much to do so little time. Work is crazy this week as we have one out on vacation, flu shots to do at a local business, and just a bunch of crazy going on. So this is going to be quick. I wanted to just stop by and say good morning since I missed yesterday. I want to wish each of you a great day.

Two times Mr. Bob and I had garage door problems. Once for no reason at all when we would get up in the morning the garage door might be part way or all the way up. Very strange due to our controls were on the inside of the garage. That mystery was cleared up because of something to do with the frequency we and the small airport were on, go figure. So that wasn't too bad, but then there was the other thing where the spring broke on the garage door. That was more expensive, but good news was my van was parked outside at the time.

I know you all will be as surprised as I am, but I have an appointment with Dr. Pomery a week from this Thursday for my first consultation and let me tell you I am totally pumped about this, because I figured I"d be put off for at least a month. I'm picking up the x-ray disc that was done last Friday at Dr. Moore's office, and my medical records from Dr. Sweet's office are being sent to me as I type. I'm so ready. I also think this thing has slipped a bit more because the pain in my groan this morning is awful, I was having to hold onto things to get around in the bedroom to get ready for the day, which this day is going to be a very long one. I have WW's this morning, and even though I'm not feeling a loss, I'm going, I'm weigh in, and then I'm meeting my friend Pat from TOPS and we're going to have coffee and some breakfast together, because there is no sense in my coming back to Beaver Dam and have to turn right back around and go to the Vascular doctor for the 2 hour ultra sound today, that is scheduled for noon.

Yikes! I worry about my garage door every time I put it up and down. My son was in the business of overhead doors, but he is 4 hours away, and I would have to find someone else to fix it. The nearest dealership is an hour away, so, yes, Nell, there are advantages to being in a metropolitan area where there are technicians available, even if they are pricey.

Today I have to go to town and stock up on groceries. Last week depleted most of my grocery supply.

Hope the wedding drama is calming down. Sometimes it's pretty hard for parents to give up "control" of their son/daughter.

@NELLJONES , sorry to hear about the garage door.....sigh. They are so expensive to repair too. We also have some trees that need to be removed. It is so pricey, but I told my hubby we better do it sooner than later before a heavy snow storm takes them down....always something...

Arrggh! Got back from the grocery store, went to close the garage door, and it broke. I'm stuck at home until tomorrow when a (very expensive) garage door tech can come out. It's at an angle, the bottom is a 8" off the ground on one side and only a couple on the other, it's cold, so critters will make themselves at home in there tonight.

And while I was outside trying to figure out how to get the trash out for pickup tomorrow morning, I looked up. The huge tree next to the driveway is obviously close to dead, it's the only one with no leaves, even though the other trees haven't even started turning color yet. We'll need to get that taken down, another huge expense. This will be the third big tree this year, including the perfectly healthy tree that fell during the storm last March.

Some days renting starts to look good.

Sounds like Coty is handling Leigh Ann well. There are some people you just can't please no matter what you do, so you move on. It's part of growing up.

Make sure you find surgeon you trust, not just one who can operate soonest. You make me glad to live in a big metropolitan area, even though it's expensive and traffic is awful. We have a lot of medical care right here.

I forgot to tell you, Joan, how we found out about Cousin Susan.
Her mother got pregnant and was not married, so she managed to hide the pregnancy from everybody except her mother and her doctor. In the last month or so, she went to Arizona to a house for unwed mothers, and had the baby. She put her up for adoption. Susan "lucked out" and got wonderful parents.
After her adoptive mother died, she hired a private investigator to find her biological parents. He did. He wrote her mother (who had Alzheimer's by then, and was being supervised by her step-sons, who said "no, this couldn't possibly be". Daughter Mary got wind of the story, investigated , and told the PI "Maybe they don't want her, but we do!". And so began the connection to Cousin Susan. (Mary and I flew to AZ to meet her in the beginning. And we loved her!)
She is like a bonus sister/daughter. I am sure if we had gotten wind of the pregnancy, she would have been adopted into our family in the beginning!
(Her father's family rejected the idea that she could be related to them, though she looks very much like the girls in his family)

Blanche, it sounds as if you had a great visit with your cousin. I'm so glad you all are getting to know her. I'm with you on the haunted house thing, that would not be fun for me either, but its amazing what you grandmother's will do for your grandchildren, which is so sweet.

Nell, I hear you on the being dark. On Tuesday's when I leave for WW's the sun is just coming up, and I noticed last night it was dark by 6:30

Here is the shower story. I felt so bad for Coty and Natalye, because there was only about 10 people there, and Coty was the only guy, it was a ''wedding shower'' so Coty was there to open
gifts as well. Ruthann & I were the only ones from Coty's side of the family to show up, his own mother didn't come and its only because Coty's done somethings on his own such as going out and buying a house and putting the one that was already paid for up for sale, so Leigh Ann his mother is being a real pill about everything. Coty even asked her if she would do the Mother/Son dance with him and she told him no, so Coty ask Ruthann, his Nanna and of course Ruthann is going to do it. I think I need to take Leigh Ann out and have a chat with her. I guess I look at
things like this, so what if Coty & Natalye isn't doing everything the way his mom and dad might do it, but let's face it Coty is much more ahead of the game than Todd & Leigh Ann were when they got married. The sad thing is I don't even think Leigh Ann is smart enough to regret what she's doing down the road. I've never seen Coty as happy as he is right now, so why phoo phoo on that. Coty and Natalye have been friends since grade school, and let me tell you its great to marry your best friend.

Okay, phone calls today to see which surgeon will see me the soonest. Wish me luck.

The hubbub has died down here. Everybody is at home base and I am picking up the remains of 6 people extra in my house for a week. It was a good week, (and I am exhausted)!

Have fun at your pre-wedding festivities, Joan. And keep us posted on how the hip goes. I am so glad that you at least have an answer. Now on to the solution.

My nerves would not stand a haunted house experience, Michelle. Glad you could do it with your grandson. If "my" little girls wanted me to go, I probably would go (I hope they don't think of that!)

Michelle, my grandkids are too young for really scary stuff. My youngest grandson is more into gross than scary. He'll be 7 tomorrow. The years are skidding by.

The Redskins play Dallas at home this afternoon. We had season tickets 20 years ago, used to enjoy going. I hate being around drunks, though, and in the era of big flat screen TVs, the experience is better at home than in the stadium. Warmer, too.

We went to the haunted firehouse here in town last night. My grandson went this year for the first time. He held my hand all the way through. He said it was okay but wasn't too thrilled with it. lol. But we had a great time. Hubby always gets a kick out of me and how I jump. I'm okay with most but the jumping out at me is what gets me. But then again I love the excitement.

Good morning everyone, and welcome to a brand new day and a brand to start to a brand new week. I know, lots of brand news in there. I just want to thank all of you for your support and prayers while I go through this hip thing. Even though I only know you all from this thread here, several of you have been through so much with me, you guys are the family I got to pick out.

This weeks quote is as if it was written just for our group. We are here to support, lend a hand, lend a shoulder to cry on, whatever is needed. We don't judge, what would be the points. I think of our little thread as a ''safe haven." One where we can voice an opinion, rant if we need to and not have the fear we will be cut down.

Our week long tracking challenge that Jane, Michelle, Jane T. & myself did last week paid off great so yes, we know the program works, we just have to work the program. I'm so very proud of all of us.
I have a wedding shower this afternoon, and cannot believe this time next week Coty will be married, he was only 7 when Mr. Bob and I got married, and Coty loved Mr. Bob almost as much as I did.
