I've been posting mostly on my App the last couple of days to try getting used to it. We were told they are going to the app because of someone they are partnering with. I assume that is probably Headspace. I find it much easier to track on the computer but will try doing more on the app. I resisted computer tracking for many years but when I finally started I found it easier. Guess i need to try keeping an open mind about the new changes.

Blanche, I could do the app but I like tracking on paper and on my computer. We shall see.

I agree about the food stuff they always sold, its about time they got with the ''Healthy Program," emoticon .

My door is to be put in today, the sun is going to shine so unless the guy calls and says he's going fishing hopefully tomorrow morning I can report ''I have a new front door." emoticon j

TOPS was great, my weigh in left much to work on. I CAN & I Will & I AM!!!

You make me grateful that I still use a paper notebook as a tracker/planner. It never needs a password.

The WW app drives me crazy. Most of the time it will not accept my password. A lot of the time it does not work in the stores. I have given up on it. So if they go to strictly app, I am going to be in a bad spot.

So glad WW is getting rid of their packaged foods and getting healthier ones! This has been needed for so long. It sounds like they are finally gong with a Whole Foods approach like a Michelle was saying. This is good news. I really do not want to track on the APP though. I may change my mind to get some goodies though....time will tell.

We are supposed to hear more about the WW changes next week. They are introducing a rewards program that is App related. One of the changes is that our leaders will no longer be called leaders but rather wellness coaches. I think some of the changes will be good as always but not so sure about the terminology. They are going to be taking artificial ingredients out of their products which is a good thing. There have been a lot of changes over the years so guess we just have to adjust.

Sounds like WW is discouraging the very foods they make money by selling. When I was in WW, the only branded thing WW offered was a little balance scale.

Joan, I hope your PT works for you. My last PT after my second neck surgery was great, he was a good therapist and he really helped me. I don't know anything about dry needling, though I saw the room where they did it.

I hope I can get a new cell phone today, every time I've tried something has come up to prevent me.

Michelle, one of the gals where I do my banking has been on the Paleo diet as well, and she's lost 35 pounds in a very short time, and her boyfriend has lost 80 pounds. I've not seen him, but she looks great.

The other thing about the Paleo diet is no sugar and starches which when you think about it when we go with starches normally they are the form of crackers, chips, cookies, candies, etc.

Our leader did tell us we'd get the information before Christmas, so something to look forward to.

Went to my PT evaluation yesterday and it was a very long exam with lots of lots of questions and with my having to get up and down from tables and chairs many time. The doctor did do dry needling on me but she only did two needles just in case I had the same outcome that I had before when dry needling was done on me. The thing this doctor did that was different, was she massaged the area for a good 5 minutes after doing the dry needling. Did it help....I might me a tad better, but not enough to cheer about. So I'm set for 3 days a weeks beginning next Monday.

I'm glad they are ditching the artificial stuff in their products. They are ever-evolving, and I guess most of that is good.

It will be a long time before they can stop everybody from calling them Weight Watchers, though.

One of my coworkers was on the Paleo diet. She lost a lot of weight. You know what she ate? Whole foods, nothing out of a box, can, or bag. Guess what? isn't that what WW is trying to tell us. So that means if we get back to basics it can work for us too. Healthy foods is what we need. Learning how to make that a part of our lives is what WW is all about.

Have a great day ladies. We got this.

Looking forward to seeing what is said at my WW meeting tonight. I think a lot of the concept is great such as taking artificial ingredients out of their products and the emphasis on healthy eating. I just am not sure about changing the name.

Good morning.

I am so glad WW was simple when I joined back in 1970. It was a very strict food plan, and a tightly knit group of women who attended meetings. (We didn't have any men in my group.) I was 21, all the others were in their 40s and 50s (I think) and I was their pet. Young people didn't join WW in those days. My leader and those women carried me through. I had a husband in Vietnam, a young baby, and I was living with my parents (a private hell). Those women were my lifeline. In some ways they are why I still stick to my Plan today, I remember how I used their strength when I was fresh out of my own. I haven't seen or heard anything about them in over 40 years, but I hear them in my head every day. You don't have to rely on telling yourself "I can do this" if a bunch of other people are willing to tell you "Yes You Can!" I know TOPS was around back then, so the concept of support had been discovered, but WW had meetings nearby and I could get there in the evenings when Mom could watch my son. I am grateful every day for those meetings, they gave me something that has lasted all these years.

I agree Michelle, I think all the aspects of weight control is what WW's has been working up to. Let's face it, it's not just about counting points, we have to have the right mindset, we need to figure out why we can go on a binge and we need to learn to try if at all possible to avoid any and all things that can throw us into one. We need to learn how to control these behaviors.

It's like every time there is a change, some will take to it like a duck to water, other's will fight it tooth and nail, and I still say, ''we have to do the plan that works best for us!!!" Each of us are different.

How awesome Joan. A nice surprise to keep you going in the right direction.

Quiet day here yesterday. Had a heavy rain in the late afternoon. But really I just did a few chores here and even took a nap. I was so tired I just couldn't stay awake. I think work is catching up with me. Back to it today.

Wellness? I thought that was what WW was working towards all along. Oh well every year is a new change, just have to go with it.

I've felt this past year that Weight Watchers has been moving away from losing weight and more into feelings. To me that is getting away from the purpose even though I know losing weight is part mental. I would just like to see more emphasis on how to eat. I think that is what most people need.

I am with Nell in believing that the change of name to WW is some kind of ploy to bring in more money. We have come a long way from WW's origins Not all good changes.

And yes, Jane T. I am struggling with "free" foods. After the last gain, I've decided to go back on the old plan. Everything gets a points value! With corn as "free", I ate lots this summer. Big mistake!

Joan, you have been at a very trying time. But you've hung in there and not let it get the better of you. I know how that scale can mess with your head, but I'm glad you're not letting it get to you! You got this despite the medical setbacks!

Good morning. Joan, It's not just that you CAN do it, you ARE doing it! There are medications that cause weight gain, it isn't an excuse, it's a reality. But that medication will stop, you'll get back to a pain free normal, and the fact that you stuck with your Plan throughout will become apparent. You are doing great!!

I can say this, ''if I were a crier, I would have sat down after getting on the scale and bawl my eyes out yesterday." I'm not a crier, but to just show you how much my group has my back there were two of my WW buds that did have a tear or two in their eyes for me. It's life the weight will come back off and I'm not allowing it to play with my mind. Also its so funny how things happen, and how things come to you just when you need it. Our leader each week has us to put our name tags in a bag and the last Tuesday of every month she draws out a name and someone gets a gift, normally it is a box of WW's bars. However this time Barbara a lady in our group that is so sweet she brought a wrapped gift to give away. Low & Behold, my name got drawn and when I opened the gift its this picture that states, ''I can & I Will" how appropriate and what a great timing. Because I CAN & I WILL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! emoticon

I feel you on so many levels @KENTUCKYWOMAN Joan. Darn how the number on the scale plays with us.

So I too got all the emails about WW. I checked and read each little section. Meetings are now called Wellness Workshops. You can earn incentives, but that requires tracking everything on the app, food, fitness etc. you earn points that you can turn in for WW swag. I am a paper tracker so I am not so sure if I will be doing that yet.

I was talking with my WW leader earlier in the month and asked her if the lifetime members were struggling to maintain. She said she did not see any specific numbers from the company about that, but in her experience the lifetime people she sees locally are struggling with the zero point foods, specifically the foods that used to cost points ex. Chicken, fish, eggs etc.

I know I am. I am still free lifetime, but it is a struggle, together with menopause. I just keep on pushing, and always always always track my food.

I will let you know anything more new that I read or find out.

It's not about what you can't do. It's all about what you can do. Never ever give up!

I think people will still call it Weight Watchers, but we all write it as WW now, and everyone knows what it means.

Somehow they must think they'll make more money by shifting focus. Personally I wouldn't have paid money every week to "get well", but I did pay it to learn how to lose weight. It worked, and the getting well part followed automatically. I still live the WW life all these years later.

Joan by not going and weighing your just covering up and the truth is you have nothing to cover up. It was medication not foods that got you in this spot. So it is just a blip in the scale. Face it and move forward.

Wellness? is this not what WW is about anyways? I just don't get them. Changing all the time. I know you have to keep up with the trends but really? so often.

When you're up a little, other members tend to see that you're human, too. And when you go back down, they accept that maybe they can recover from a gain, too.

When you've followed the plan, and still gain, you just have to have a lot of faith until the next weigh in. This is where a lot of people "lose it" and give up. I know that won't happen to you.

Rainy here, too , this morning. But thank goodness, we're not North Carolina!

You might as well go and weigh in. You aren't hiding a slip, you are seeing the effects of a medication....for real, not as an excuse. Your tracker shows you the truth, the scale will catch up. And for all the water retention effects of steroids, they really did help your pain. You've come a long way from the day you re-joined WW, just think where you'll be by Christmas with all those months off steroids behind you!

I have to accompany hubby to two doc appointments today. I can't trust him to be honest with his docs, or honest with me about what the docs say. It's a rainy, miserable day again, it's hard to believe how much rain we've had this year.

Hey everyone.

I saw where Weight Watchers is revamping again. I'm not sure if any of the foods are changing, but the packaging is and from what I have read there will be more of a ''Wellness" thing now. Wellness that Works (WW). Not sure if our leader will mention anything today, but if she does I'll pass it alone.

I'm not sure what I'll do this morning. I dug out my scales and weighed in and almost passed out, but two weeks worth of steroids can do a number on a person's body. I made so sure to keep tracking, keep planning and making sure I got those little ''blue dots'' that show up on my online tracker each day I stay within my healthy guidelines. I'm trying so very hard not to beat myself up, and my first thought was, ''I'm not going this morning," when I don't want to go is when I need the group the most. My second thought was, ''I'll go, but not weigh in," think about this, what difference is that going to make other than a big gain not being put on my card, the gain in there whether its on my card or not. My third thought and the one I'll probably go with is this, ''might as well go, weigh in and just move on from there. It's life and life happens, and here lately life has been kicking my butt. That little metal box is for information, it only has power over me if I allow it.

What a great cheerleader you are, Joan! To us, and to the lady on the phone. I hope she took your words to heart. But the change only happens when it first happens in your head. Then you are able to follow the plan and your weight begins to change for the better.
Glad to know you are 100 % better now, Joan. To have kept on the plan despite the water retention and the wound bandages is commendable!

It's raining here, too, and chilly again, I have to take my list to the grocery store today, a miserable task in bad weather.

Yay on that last steroid, Joan! Give it a month or so for all the water weight to come off. You've stuck to your plan, so it WILL happen!!

Raining here this morning, and from what the weatherman is saying, its going to rain off and on the entire day. Maybe it will stop long enough for when I go to the post office. Nothing going on around here, today I take my last steroid, and I am 100% better than I was two weeks ago.

Have a great day everyone. Stay Strong emoticon

You're right Joan. We can find every excuse there is to quit but then where would we be. In the end we have to do the work and it's not always easy but that is the only way to succeed.

Great quote Joan!

Hey we have all been there and just get so tired of having to track , weigh and measure. We all want a loophole to the system that will allow us to eat uncontrollably without any consequences. That talk you gave that lady on the phone is so hard to hear, but it always hits you right where you need it. A HUGE reality check. I sure hope she takes it all to heart and comes back. Have a wonderful day ladies!

It IS an investment in yourself. That woman really doesn't want to do the work, no one can make her. If she doesn't want to pay for WW, there is always TOPS or OA for support, but even support doesn't mean you don't have to work at it. I can decide I want a clean house but don't want to do it, and I can just pay someone. With weight loss, you can pay someone but you still have to do it. You can't buy willingness. If there were an easy way, someone would have found it by now. I remember fen-phen, it WAS an easier way to lose weight. It also killed you, which, I suppose, is one way to do it. I'm glad I lost my weight the WW way, I got a lot more than just goal weight. I am no longer a victim, I am in control of my eating.

It's rainy and miserable here today, and will be raining most of the week. Today is a good day to read the new book I just got on my kindle.

Great quote today. After a 4lb loss this week I know that tracking is key.

There is no better investment than the one you make in yourself."

Happy first full day of Fall emoticon everyone. We had rain the entire day yesterday, a good soaking rain, and this morning its still raining. I had no planes that require me to be outside, so I'm good.

I came across the quote I'm using today quiet by accident, but for me its very appropriate. Yesterday afternoon I was having a phone conservation with a person from my WW's group. Yep I give out my phone number. Anyway, this person has been struggling, but as we all know we all struggle from time to time. I think this person wants to quit WW's and she needs an excuse. The excuse I hear most is, ''its so expensive." So yesterday afternoon as the ''whining'' was going on, out it came, ''I just think of what I could do with the monthly fee each month I pay, and as we both can see its not helping me any." Door has been open, and the mistake is always, ''I ask you because I know you will be honest." Footnote here, ''people do not want honesty, unless its exactly what they want to hear." So door's open and I get to talk next. So my question's begin, ''are you tracking? Weighing & measuring? Are you making every effort to come to our meeting's? (that one I already knew the answer to.) Are you saying NO to any of your trigger foods? So many questions, so little time. Of course this person tried to side step answering the questions, and I finally had to say this, ''you called me asking for help, there is only so much anyone can do and then YOU have to take responsibility, and from what I'm NOT hearing it sounds like you've not taken the responsibility as of yet." Helllloooo, are you still there???? They were, and the next thing out of their mouths was, ''but, I'm just tired of all of it." My reply, then it sounds as if your not going to try any longer. Person on the other end of the line, ''but how do you do it?? How have you made this work for you for so long?" My answer was as follows, ''I've made an investment in myself, and I knew before I joined just how much it was going to cost me each month, but I also knew if I didn't do something then I'd be having to buy more prescription drugs that were not going to help with my ailments. I had a choice just like you do to either continue on the ding dong/ donut plan or change and make some REAL permanent changes. I had to learn, ''this is not a DIET, because diet's are short term, but I had to learn how to make this a lifestyle just as this time last year eating a ding dong was part of my lifestyle."

Now I don't know if this person will be back, but I never gave them a reason that they should step back and throw in the towel. I even suggested they speak with our leader, and they said, ''I did and Janie told me exactly the same thing you have told me." Bottom line then my friend is, ''its all up to you."

So make that investment in YOU, if you haven't already. The returns will be AMAZING!!!!!

"Just don't give up trying to do what you really want to do!"
