I know we're supposed to try 5 foods this week that we've not had before, but I'm not making it to the store until my meeting tomorrow because of the high price of gas in my area. I can't even imagine there's 5 foods out there I haven't tried. I might check out some new recipes, but I have today's menu planned out already...

I recently tried quinoa and really like it. Today I added some to turkey soup w veggies. It is also very good w pesto as a side with fish. I am finding it fun to try new recipes from Sparks or from WW site. I really like the nut crusted mahi mahi that I recently made. I also recently started to use WW tortilla's for a sandwich. It is good with any number of fillings and different from using bread or lettuce leaf for a wrap.

I plan my meals a week at a time and I love perusing healthy recipe sites for ideas. I'm always cooking something new. Skinnytaste.com is a GREAT resource.

I'm a routine eater. I do a little switching around, but not much. I do like to check out new recipes to try, but if I like it, I'll fix it a lot.

I'm always looking at markdown meats for options. Tonight we had angus filet mignons from the markdown area and they were quite delicious! I also had the fourth new food for the week- Ichiban eggplant from our garden, and it was awesome!
Yay for new foods!

I look for ways to "ramp up" my salads. A recent favorite try was a lean ground beef patty crumbled up in my salad. Yummy! I always check out the "about to expire" meats for good lean choices at the grocery then find ways to use them.

We eat a lot of chicken, salmon. But lately I have been eating almonds as a protein at lunch with a salad or veggies and fruit.

I loved this meeting. Eating the same thing all the time does get boring

I love chicken myself and could eat it all the time. I do throw in fish, beef, and ground turkey.

I may make a lot of chicken but it is different recipes. I try out new recipes all the time and this changes the menus and they don't get boring.

One of the meeting goals was to try 5 new foods this week. So far I have tried unsalted roasted pumpkin seeds (were fine but I like sunflower seeds better), homemade part whole wheat individual pizza crust (really crispy and I loved them!) and strawberry kefir, a cultured milk drink, like yogurt (really yummy and I never would have tried it otherwise). On deck for the rest of the week- Ichiban eggplant from my garden, coconut milk, salt-free pinto beans and Mexican style diced tomatoes with green chiles and jalapenos.

Thanks for sharing. I missed the meeting this week. I eat a variety of foods so never really get bored. Even lean beef is a good option.

This week our meeting topic was Food Boredom. If you attend the meetings, you may notice that the front of the Weekly says "Chicken Again?" That really seems to be the go to protein for a lot of folks. How do you change things up so you don't get bored? Any new food finds to share??

Take Care and God bless,

Tracey W.
