I give lots of goodies away - so that I can make more!

I love the excuse to make a treat, but if I still have cookies hanging around on the counter, I'll eat them so that I can make the next recipe I want to try. Does that make me addicted to cookies or baking?

I have found that if I freeze half (dough/cookies/bread) I don't eat as much. I'll eat until it's gone, but now it's only half the batch instead of the whole thing. This also gives me backup treats for busy/hot days when I can't get in the kitchen.

Maybe its not just eating but the smells from the kitchen. Maybe we are like cats and our hunger sensors go crazy if we smell food! Only thing I can suggest is to tell yourself you wont bake sweets for X number of days... or limit it to once a week. Try baking something else! I love to bake and have tried so many different recipes it makes it easier not to get hooked on something. My husband baked bananas once. Just a simple banana and it was awesome. Search google for baked bananas or other fruit!

Good luck with this and let me know how you do!

I'm not losing and I'm gaining a pound here, a pound there...and it's because I CAN'T STOP BAKING JUST TO EAT! I love baking everything from cakes to cookies and I love the joy my baked things brings to my family. However, for a while now, I bake just so I can eat...mostly cookie dough. I know this is something some willpower should be able to overcome, but either I don't have the willpower or it's something more. Why am I craving cookie dough uncontrollably? Is it an emotional comfort? Something in the dough my body is needing...protein from the eggs for example? Or is it just another food fixation?

I have a tendency to find something I like, and then it's all I want to eat/drink. Diet Wild Cherry Pepsi was the first thing, then Diet Vanilla Pepsi, then cookie dough, etc. I don't know the technical term, but I just call it a food fixation.

Has anyone else experienced this? If so, how did you overcome it? Any advice? I've baked both with traditional, less healthy ingredients and also using Splenda, egg substitute, etc to try to make it healthier to consume tons of baked goods, (although I know the healthiest would be to simply NOT eat it at all.) HELP!
