Carrying on in April. A new sister just moved into our congregation bringing our regular pioneer total to 41. We have some lively “car groups “!

Walking in nature, with so few other people around, seems to be consistently rejuvenating!
It's like that's exactly what our bodies need in order to deal with all the chaos of this present world.
We should all do more of it!

Wow MamaDee,

Sounds like you have a full calendar there. Can't believe April is almost over. Summer will be here in no time. I did a nice walk on a nature trail. Haven't done that in a very very long time. It was so relaxing. I will do that again when I don't work in the afternoon because it was no that many people there and I felt like it was just me an nature. lol

Carl, nice to see you back here!

Asta, this has been such a busy month I've forgotten whatever else I was going to write about concerning the end of March & beginning of April. UGH! emoticon

Back at the beginning of the year - roughly - I'd decided it was time to "downsize" my personal space. My goal, or part of it, is to clear up more floor space in my room to allow for safer space to do exercises. Since moving here in August of 2017 my room has also been a storage space, sewing space, office space, library space, & family history space ~~~ in addition to where I sleep & keep my personal things. Two walls were lined with shelving - the kind that go about 5-6-feet high with 4 to 6 shelves. Today there is just one shelving unit on each of 3 walls (removed 2 & restructured 1 to maximize use of closet space). Several boxes were filled and put into long-term storage (for now). Sewing projects are now prioritzed and on open shelves - both to remind me of the need to do them & to better track what's needed and when items are finished & ready to go back to owner.

Getting this done I thought would take a month or a month and a half. Health issues, family stuff, and increasing spiritual activities prior to Special Talk & Memorial caused a number of delays. Deep into April now and I'm "almost" done with the project. LOL Maybe by the end of this month I will be able to call this one complete!

Meanwhile ~~~ effects of lockdowns & manic disinfecting still has me unable to enter most public buildings; has Jessi still not doing as many houses (cleaning biz) as she was prior to March 2020; and has Becca still unemployed and now out of unemployment funds (there are a few options left for some income that she's looking into, but little hope she'll qualify). It's so nice we have daily zooms for service & plenty of company (on screens) as we do letter writing & phone witnessing!

An interesting "side-effect" of this limited way of life is that my girls have had a lot fewer illnesses during the last 13 months than probably any other year of their lives! Makes me wonder how much of what people are doing now to prevent illness will continue after all the limitations are dropped; if anyone else will have taken note of less overall illness, particularly the sort that are easily transmitted (colds, flu, stomach bugs, etc).

Anyway, we have less than 10 days left of April. We've had some awesome zoom meetings: speakers from Stockholm Sweden, from Dar es Salaam Tanzania, from Florida, Texas, Montana, Minnesota & Michigan! (We're in the center of Wisconsin, so rarely get any speaker outside our state) Our circuit will start May with a Circuit Assembly. Pioneer zoom meeting on Friday, the 1st. CO visit begins the 11th. So no slowing down anytime soon. emoticon

Have any of you experienced any sort of benefits from this limited lifestyle lately? emoticon

No worries, Asta!

It's "covid-time" emoticon so we're all having more than the usual lapses in remembering days, weeks, months... I'd add years (since it's been over one) but really hoping 2021 brings the end of all such matters and we can get back to keeping track of time in more normal ways.

March ended on the wild side for us (me & my Wausau girls) Jessi's car DIED and she called me in such a panic about it... just after 5pm Tuesday... our MWM begins at 7pm... and I ran over to her (in CJ's car) to see what could be done to "revive" her car!

Only after getting to her did I remember - - - it's meeting night! Meeting starts in about 90 minutes! I won't have any time to make my dinner! emoticon

My various attempts to determine the problem with the car were failing to get her started.
No way am I going to bother any of my brothers this close to meeting time!

So I asked Becca & Jessi what their plans were for dinner.
This week Becca is dog-sitting (til Sunday) so she's living at the dog's home & sometimes Jessi stays the night there with her, but not too many nights. Jessi's schedule is busy, busy, busy now that more house-cleaning customers are not so fearful of the virus (many still take every possible precaution) and she's managing her anxieties over zoom-pioneering better (a few sisters, once they learned of this, have been adjusting their own routines to be on zoom with Jessi when making calls & sometimes even while writing letters). Plus I'm printing out some cute/pretty lined papers for her (digital download from various online friends) that she finds very motivating for her!

Anyway - their plan WAS for B to have a taco salad at the dog-home, while J was going to return home & fix a quick dinner before each of them attended the meeting on their own. When the car died it prevented J from getting home - and delayed B in making that taco salad.
Sooo.... I quickly worked out a delivery order for dinner. Meanwhile, J & I went to Menard's to buy a gas can. No idea what happened to one I used to have (in storage maybe?) & my best guess was the car needed more gas to get started.
Jessi's whole story of the minutes preceeding the car dying & her attempts to restart it - is quite long, and somewhat comical - but this is getting long enough - bottom line the car most likely needed more gas. It had less than a gallon (car data said 21 miles to E) in it AND it was idling on a steep hill when it "jerked & jolted" before it died.
Menard's took way longer than expected. Dinner had been delivered before J got back to the me waiting in the parking lot.
So - we returned to the dead car with an empty gas can... and a plan to just carefully push it into the dog-home garage (without marring the Tesla parked inside) so the garage door could be closed. Then I'd leave B's dinner with her, take the rest of the dinner delivery with me & J and I'd get J to her place, with her dinner, then get myself home (w/dinner). And TOMORROW, Wednesday, last day of March... we'd all resume dealing with dead car after CJ's medical appts in the morning.
J was just a little late to meeting - song already started.
I was more late - already doing the student talks - by the time I got home, parked, walked inside & got computer up & running & on the zoom app.
And tired!
Wednesday, shortly after I had a car available, I called B. After the call, she went out to the garage and tried a few times to start the car --- 3rd or 4th time IT STARTED!!! (Being on level ground would allow the small amount of gas to get thru the lines to do what it does)
So we made a plan to meet at a nearby gas station.
B called as I was leaving... car died... on the highway... she managed to pull it over, coasting on remaining power... got the hazard lights on... but was terrified as cars were not slowing down and were really close to her!
By the time I got there, a lady had stopped (B was on the shoulder in front of her house) to help. She had gas in a can - we all learned a few things about these newer cars and gas tank safety features - and we managed to get about a gallon of gas into this poor car. We thanked her profusely - she refused any payment - then B & I proceeded to the nearest gas station.
Once full - Jessi's car was back to her usual ways! But B was still very nervous about driving her. So B took CJ's car back home. I spent the rest of the day driving J's car, taking B to various errand stops around town. We picked up J when she was done with service & eventually J drove and I got dropped off at home late in the afternoon.
Thursday & Friday I had plans to be out as well - but I'll share more on those later. emoticon
For now, this Saturday afternoon, I'm taking it EASY!!! No plans to get out at all - other than maybe sitting on my patio (that table sure needs cleaning off - winter's remnants) and maybe I'll work some with my woeful potted plants out there.

Til next time,
