I was laughing about them looking like gorilla feet when I showed them to my mother last night. I still don't care--as long as my feet don't hurt, I'm going to be happy with them. At least for a while, anyway.

They aren't the best shoes for winter time. I just saw that the company has come out with some boot-like ones for winter, but they look like someone chopped of Big Foot's feet and put them up for sale. Extra super ugly!!

I'm thinking if you cut the toes off up here in the winter your feet would freeze! emoticon

Jenny, I just learned how to knit gloves--I wonder if I could knit myself some toe-less toesocks? I wonder if I could wear them or if they'd drive me crazy?

These shoes really are conversation starters! Everyone wants to talk about them when I wear them.

Terri--Your daughter is so funny! Just take your shoes in for a pedicure!

Tina--Usually people wear them with bare feet. I have tried them with toe socks, but I think I would need a bigger size for them to feel comfortable with socks. I know some people buy the toe socks and cut off the toes and then they are comfortable to wear with the shoes.

Jen, I had to go look on the box to see what I'd bought! LOL
Yes, they are the Kimodo Sports (men's, because I have very wide feet).

Tina, they make socks for them but I haven't bought any yet. There are different types/thicknesses of socks for different weather. If they stretch out at all, I will probably get some wool socks for the winter (if I wear them in the winter, that is). They fit quite snugly right now but are amazingly comfortable.

Some of you know that I've had trouble with my feet for years, so I am ALL about comfort. I figure that I've spent the first half of my life trying to squeeze my feet into "cute" shoes that nearly crippled me, so I plan to spend the second half being comfortable.

Here's a funny conversation I had with my daughter after I posted the picture on FB~

DD: "Mom, those are the strangest-looking things I've ever seen."
Me: "So you don't think I'll get away with wearing them for dress-up?"
DD: "Sure you can--just paint the little toenail things and you're good to go!"

I love that girl and her sense of humor!

So these are shoes with toes? Do you buy special socks with toes or without then??

I have Vibram Five Fingers Terri! They are pretty funny looking! Which ones did you get?

I got the Sprints in black over a year ago. I tried on the Bikilas before I broke my leg and they were super comfy. So I'm thinking of getting those. My husband love his Five Fingers and wears them everywhere except church and with clients.

Do you wear yours barefoot or with toe socks?

Oh my, those are pretty scary looking ! I have a friend who would love, Love, LOVE them--she's crazy about anything orange! I'm with you, though, on going for comfort. I've had my fill of cute shoes that hurt my feet. For most of my life it seems as though I've had to "break in" my shoes, and what I discovered is that it was my feet that were being broken in. I ended up with foot-deforming bunions that prohibitted me from buying 98% of the shoes on the rack and my feet even hurt when I walked barefoot!

I've had corrective surgery on one foot (the worst one) and am now pain free, but still have a difficult time finding shoes to fit--and they're almost always pretty homely looking. I'm resigned to wearing unstylish comfortable shoes for the rest of my life if I have to. All that being said, I just bought a pair of Vibram FiveFinger shoes this week and am really loving them...and they are the funniest-looking things I've ever seen!

Tina, cotton socks don't wick the sweat away from your skin and can cause blisters. I don't know any brand names but you can ask the salesperson about wicking socks. Running socks even have some extra cushion on the bottom--very comfy (not that I do much running), but there are wicking socks for walking too.

For years, I have walked in New Balance walking shoes replacing them when they wear out. I still have some that I use regularly. A few months ago, I went to a running store to be fitted for new shoes. I tried on a bunch of different shoes and tried walking in them. The pair I got feel heavenly! But the are super ugly: www.brooksrunning.com/Racer-ST-5/100

I bought them despite their ugliness because I am putting a lot of miles on the for the 3 Day for the Cure and they are the most comfy walking/running shoe, I have ever had. I just wish they would come in a different color!

For socks, I mostly wear cotton no-show socks from Costco, but I did buy some different socks for the 3 Day. I have Adidas Formotion socks: www.roadrunnersports.com/rrs/product

Do you buy special shoes made especially for walking/running/whatever your main workout type is?
I've just been wearing a Keen-like shoe I found on clearance for my walking this last year, but I need to get some new shoes. I do tons of walking all fall and winter, and don't want blisters or really sore feet when I'm done each day, so think I need to get shopping! Any suggestions? My sil also said I need a special brand of sock as I get way too hot wearing socks and shoes (hence the Keen-like shoes)--Coolmax. Anyone use those?
