Our nighttime routine starts when the boys come home from football practice. We get the showers finished, clean up and have our books ready for the following day, maybe catch an episode of "Chopped" on the FoodNetwork (pre-recorded, of course, so we can fast forward through the commericals), and prayer and praise time, then it's off to some zzzz's. Of course, I curl up with a good book on most nights for a little wind down time for me. emoticon

Our nights end up with us watching a Netflix show and then everyone just going to bed. Once in a while maybe a game before bed. Dh just ends up busy with work til at least 9, so our family time runs right into bedtime. Ideally, I'd like to spend the evening watching something for school or doing a read aloud before bed. But it doesn't work that way for us. Maybe with the grandkids someday... :)

Oh wow, this is perfect. I just read on another thread about a mom who's struggling getting her ds to settle down for "school" night time rituals.

My ds and I clean up an hour before bed. Meaning all his toys must be put in his room. I clean up the kitchen and make sure it's clean and ready for our morning. Then we get our pajamas on, brush our teeth, wash our face and usually have one last phone call with his dad.

By the time we get to bed we say our prayers and read his new devotional book. He likes it so much I read a week or two at a time. Then sometimes we'll talk about the day or about tomorrow or just whatever is on his mind. Then hugs and kisses and lights out.

I read this today and was curious of others' night time rituals/routines.

"A Soothing Bedtime Routine"

"Try establishing a relaxing nightly ritual. For instance, take a warm bath or read an uplifting devotional before you turn out the light. What kind of routine helps you wind down at night?"

I thought this was a great question.
