Tina,

I LOVE LOVE LOVE teaching the beginning grades! They tickle me at that age. :-)

My 12th grader is playing football at the high school. I may check on the debate team, too, for him. We're another state where you can mix the public and homeschool classes. So nice!

And 1st grade. Ahhhh. The wonder of watching them learn at the beginning. :)

My 12th grader does half of his schooling in his room and the other half over at our local public school. We are blessed with a public school that allows high school age homeschoolers to take part-time classes. He thought that might help acclimate himself into college next year.

My 1st grader and I work at the dining room table. He's like his Momma -- we like room to spread out!

Most of our schooling is done in the dining room, but we love to do read alouds on the couch or in bed snuggled together.

We do have a school room but it's not the only room we use. My oldest does almost all of her learning in her room. For the rest of us..... Read alouds, history, and devotionals are usually in the Living Room or sometimes outside. Barton Reading & Spelling, math (on the desktop computer), and typing are in the school room. Papers and essay writing are usually done on laptops anywhere in the house. Reading & handwriting are done anywhere. Art, sewing, and crafts are usually done in the dining room. Science and math classes are done in the library unless it's a lab which is done in the kitchen, garage, or outside. Our library doubles as my husband's office when he's not travelling. PE is outside, in the garage, or at the dance & karate studios. Music is done in the family room. I guess we pretty much use the whole house!

We rotate between the living room with the video components and great seating area for reading, to the kitchen table. Dd may choose to do a good chunk in her room now with the new desk--an old vanity. Really, I find the kitchen table a bit too high for me, so lots done on the living room floor, too.

We usually vary our 'classroom' but I do have a central location for everything and that's also where our computers are located. If I need to make bread or something else in the kitchen, then we will usually have school at the counter, and then go to dining room, living room, their desks, or the loft [where our stuff is located]. Okay, i guess the answer would be NO, I don't have a certain classroom that we stay in all day! ha! That was my drawn out way of answering a simple question! emoticon

Do you have a classroom or use one or more other rooms for school?
