I hope you ladies don't mind a guy on the team. They just don't have a huge selection of WoW teams here, lol. As far as age goes I don't think you are ever to old to game. I am 45 and I always ask to make sure a guild is a mature guild and what the age range is before I join. I am currently in a guild on Wildhammer that is predominantly inhabited with people over 40.

Thanks! Funny thing is, that was the first person that The Guy met when he first logged into EverQuest over 7 years ago. Our friend offered my fiance some spare newbie gear, and they adventured together a bit. Then they discovered that we live in the same state. We've been visiting our friend every year in the fall for the Charlotte Ren Faire, and he comes up here for the Raleigh one in the spring. After my dad died, I made the request of our friend, and he happily accepted because his only daughter had eloped, so he never got the chance. I love that things like this can work out!

Ailinea that's just lovely about your guildie walking you down the isle. It's wonderful when true rl friendships form!

We have a guildie who is 63, and we've been playing with him for the past 7 years since our EQ days. We're even going to make our annual trip to the NC Ren Faire to visit him. I've asked him to be the one to walk me down the aisle when I get married (since my dad died 2 years ago). He may not have the quickest reflexes of all our guildies, but he's been one of our most steadfast, loyal, and best players we've ever had.

The oldest player I know is 82 and his wife is 72. Seriously. They are the oldest I know of. I invited them. I knew them from another game, Meridian 59 (the original MMORPG) and invited them when I moved to WoW because I knew they'd like it.

I play Feathermoon and Earthen Ring realms.

Lol - i had to laugh too when i saw this thread.

Im 57 now - and im not the oldest player i met.
When we had first come-together of my alliane-guild one of the younger members asked me if i couldn´t talk to his grandmother so that she starts too on playing WOW.
For 15 years now im a part-time teacher for computer-skills. Many of the seniors coming to my classes don´t even know how relaxing a computer game can be. I sorry for them :-(

awwww...that's so awesome! my 8-year-old was in a fantastic group for a random dungeon last weekend as the tank. He is spec'd blood, and mine is frost, so I really didn't know what to tell him about his toon, but the other players gave him some wonderful suggestions and he came out of that dungeon a much stronger tank. It's a beautiful thing when all generations can come together and enjoy a shared passtime. :D

I'm a 42-year-old mother of four, 17, 9, 8 and 2 and I play more WoW than my kids do. LOL I fondly refer to my only 80 toon as the National Bank of Cercei because she finances all the lower toons' profs and riding skills. I know, I know: I need to let them support themselves...but.....

Anyway, I've seen g2g used two different ways: good to go and got to go, very often. If players are paying attention to what's going on, they can usually figure out what it means pretty quickly, without the abbreviated cursing. lol :D

NO! You are never too old to play WoW!! Currently, I play (I'm 28), my DH plays, my little sis and brother play and my dad plays with us along with some family friends my dad's age! We have SO much fun together and I know for a FACT my dad plays a ton more than I do! You're only as old as you feel and if you're having fun, you're doing it right! Play on!!

I'm 60 and love gaming. My guild (all educators) is superfabulous--and very helpful to new gamers--and I think some of them are at or near my age. I assuage my gaming guilt by thinking of it as professional development. If you're in education come check us out - Cognitive Dissonance on Sisters of Elune. Not sure of the guild website address, but googling "cognitive dissonance wow" gets to it. Some of the guild chat is even about using games for education!

Never too old!!! I'm 50, have been playing for 3 years or so. I don't raid but might someday - probably when I retire!!! I just have too many distractions/responsibilities to devote the time that raiding requires.

I'm always amused by the occasional 'how old are you' chat thread that gets going. There have never been less than 4-5 who pop in to say they are over 50, and I never recognize the same name.

Never stop!

I am 38 (39 in October) and I love the game. I play with my 13 yr old daughter, am the Guild Mum of New Beginings on Hellfire. Our guild consists of a funny mix as there are tonnes ot teenagers... and tonnes my age, mostly we are parent and child combos tho there are some couples and some on their own. We call our guild a "family guild" both because it is a lot of family teams that are in it as well as the way we are becoming like a family. So if you fancy making a Hordie on Hellfire you would be extremely welcome in our guild, the grown ups for the most part tend to be officers (although our battlemaster is only 16 as he has the most experience at pwning in raids!) I hope I am still playing in my 60's I really do.

I'm 35, soon to be 36 and I've been playing WoW for 4 years next month. NEVER too old! Some of my best friends in the game are in their 20's with perhaps one or two in their 30's.

I don't care how old anyone is, as long as they are fun to raid/kill/quest with haha

Nah, you're not too old.

I'm 41, and the first raiding guild I was in had an average age over 30, in spite of having a 3-4 guild members under 21. (Yes, they were all kids of other members, except one, who was the 20-yr-old's wife)

And like Ari said, her parents play, and I know of at least one other case where a parent got involved in the game to spend more time with her son.

Crella, no WAY are you too old! I work in a video game store and I've seem them all. The majority of people who buy Time Cards I'd say are 30+ (buying for them and not their kids). I've also played with a lot of older players (around 65 being the oldest). You have 30+ years until you're "older" Crella!!

Let's see... I'm 33, and I'll let Shoryl tell her own age. My parents (both of whom play more than I do) are 56 and 36. One of my favorite guild leaders was a retired lawyer in his 50s.

So, no, I wouldn't say you're too old to play WoW. Lingo changes day-by-day, it seems. I wouldn't worry about it.

I had to join this forum when I saw this post. My husband & I run a ally guild and the average age is 35-40 with a light sprinkling of teens. Most of us are couples or families that just want to play together.

I had to laugh when I saw this topic! Among female players, I'm among the oldest as far as I've seen. At 52 I've only run across one who was older than me by 2 years.

I'm 40 and I love WOW and play all the time. I'm in a guild with younger people and they love the fact that I'm older. I like a lot of people don't mind grinding for mats and such.

You're never too old to do the things that you like!

I use to play maplestory as well and hated that they were all 10 year olds.

I'm a guild leader, and I can promise you...it makes me insanely happy to meet people who are real adults!

I used to play Maplestory, and finding grownups there was a fairly rare thing.

WoW is an adult game. Pretty sure they market to adults. I wouldn't worry about it :P

I Certianly hope there is no age limit on WOW, or other video games for that matter. That would be a huge bummer lol! I'll be 35 next month, I have a 14 year who has a toon on my account. I think the oldest person I have personally played with was in her 60's. Thats one of the great things (and sometimes not great things) about the game, the diversity you get. There are many people I've made friends with via WOW that I would likely never have come in contact with in Real Life.

My mom is in her mid-50s and a huge WoW fan. We call her our guild farmer because she loves to grind and skin, lol.

I love that WoW appeals to all ages, and it's something I can play with my mom. I've made a lot of friends in game, two of whom I met last month for the first time.

I was actually in a guild for gamers over age 25 and they ran the gamut on age. They were a clan so they had FPS guilds, RPG guilds and all tons of irl events too. If you're looking for that kind of experience, the clan is The Older Gamers www.theoldergamers.com/ and they have guilds on several realms for WoW, among many other games. emoticon

I think this is why WoW has become the gorilla of MMORPGs, it appeals to a large demographic. My husband and I are usually middle of the pack at 32 and 41 years old but occasionally I do have to shake my head at some of the younger members of our current guild.

If you are in southeast Michigan and are looking for a personal trainer, I recommend Vladimir Vjatschslav, BSc. (freelancer.personaltraining@yahoo.com) or Sarah Coffin, ACSM certified personal trainer

My hubbie and I are both in our 40s, and are in a guild where we're on the older end of the spectrum, but far from being the outliers. There are two 60+ in our guild, and I know two others in-game.

Of course you're not too old. I've seen gtg mean both, actually, so it's a confusing one for me. I usually just use rdy instead if I'm in that much of a hurry that I have to abbreviate. We had a guild leader who was 52, some of our guildies have been higher in their 50's or even in their 60's. Age is just a number.

HAHA! I can tell you that I even have issues with some of the lingo, and I'm only 24! I never really caught on to the whole txt or gaming lingo other than the occasional "lol" or "btw."

The last guild I was in was actually quite an experience for me. I was the youngest person in the guild, and was often reminded of it. My husband, a friend of ours, and I were the only people under age 30 in the whole guild! It was a large guild, filled mostly with 40+ yr olds- Which was TOTALLY fine! I don't think you should feel too old at all! The game is what brings people together... and it is amazing that so many different people can come together in one world!

If you enjoy it, just keep playing! Now, if you were like 80 YEARS old... it might be a little odd... but you're not! You're still young at heart, and that's a GREAT thing!

For starters, I am a 42 year old mother of a 21 yo and a 16 yo. I am well aware that when I am playing ALOT of the others are much younger than me. I was reminded of the age barrier the other night. I was in a random as the healer and OOM'd. When I was replenished I said "gtg". The tank replied with.. "WTH? whatever..".. it took me a while to figure out the problem. I meant "good to go" and he thought I meant "gotta go" (I think anyway)... I need an add-on for the lingo LOL
