Name the best ten book you ever read in your life and tell what it was about the book or books that made them great in your eyes. A series only counts as one book/slot.

1) Lord of the Flies (Amazing Imagery and Symbolism)
2) A Day No Pigs Would Die (First book I ever read from cover to cover I was 10)
3) Where the Red Fern Grows (Dog lover/cried)
4) Charlottes Web (Another heart touching story)
5) The Uglies Series (Amazing technique of the author in dealing with time, society, and prejudices
6) 1984 (because we are almost living it now and that was such great insight for the time the book was written)
7) I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings (Maya Angelo eloquent language and flow)
8) Lucille Clifton's "Generations: A Memoir" (An amazing female black author with a young girl's experience during the civil rights movement in the south.
9) Things Fall Apart by Chinua Achebe (amazing cultural experience)
10) The Left Behind Series (WOW, Characters and action and adventure could not put these down)

There are two books that I charish as a writer not a reader although they are good reads as well just not stories/novels. They are "Pen On Fire: A Busy Woman's Guide to Igniting the Writer Within" by Barbara DeMarco-Barrett and another book that I found absolutely inspiring as a writer with many helpful hint (whether you like his books or not) is "On Writing" by Stephen King. If I ever teach writing at the college level or even in high school I am so going to use these two books. I can't wait to see the choices you all have made. I am sure I will be adding to my already extensive reading list.

I can do ALL things through Christ who strengthens me! Philippians 4:13 Praise God!
