Terri Once a week is good enough. That is what i have been doing lately. Sometimes I go more often but my official weigh in day is Friday, or Monday. just depends on if I remember before work.

Good luck.

The road to success is not straight. There is a curve called Failure, a loop called Confusion, speed bumps called Friends, red lights called Enemies, caution lights called Family. You will have flats called Jobs. But, if you have a spare called Determination, an engine called Perseverance, insurance called Faith, a driver called Jesus, you will make it to a place called Success.

Hi EPSIGSIREN!
Yes, I agree the scales are not always the best judge of what you are doing. I love the logging your food feature. I can see at a glance how much I can eat and where I am for fat, fiber etc. I am just getting into the groups and that is helpful as well. I am telling all my friends about SP!
Have a great week!
Terri

Hi Sharleen,
I am from the Des Moines area, a town called Runnells. Actually in the rural area with a mailing address of Runnells. My brother lives in St Cloud, MN. I have not even got on the scales yet. I used to get on the scales every day when I was trying to lose weight but decided that it just makes me crazy so I am only going to weigh once a week. Then it will be a big surprise. Hopefully a good one! I encourage everyone to do the same.
Have a great week!
Terri

Terri What part of Iowa are you from I am from SE MN about 18 miles south of Rochester. Just remember just because the scale dose not change doesn't mean it is not working. There are a number of things that could be getting better without shedding the pounds, for instance you BMI, Blood Pressure, Cholesterol, inches, Overall well being, and many more. Plus you may not lose weight but you could still be gaining muscles , they weigh more the fat.

Good luck to you.

Even if you work really hard and do everything *right* the scale doesn't always go down every week. It won't be your fault, so don't be scared. However, most people, especially at first, see a loss pretty much every week. What helps is if you have another list of things you see as improvements: how your clothes fit, how satisfied you are with a healthier diet, if your heartrate goes down, if you can do more of an exercise or activity...and so on so that even when the scale is frustrating you have something to perk you up. Continuing to participate and log in your food an exercise is a healthy habit to be proud of on its own! Welcome to SparkPeople.

SPARKNAME: PhatGrandma

NAME: Terri

AGE: hmmm we don't talk about that at my house. LOL!!

BIRTHDAY: April 3

MARITAL STATUS: married at heart

CHILDREN: 2 1 son who lives in Kansas and works as a firefighter and is in the national guard. 1 daughter who lives near me and works as a mail carrier and does woman's roller derby.

WHERE DO YOU LIVE: Iowa

HOBBIES: I love to spend time with my 2 beautiful grandbabies more than anything else. But they live in Kansas so can't see them everyday like I wish. I love to scrapbook, read and omg POGO can't forget that. I am addicted to POGO!

TELL US ALITTLE ABOUT YOURSELF: I have been overweight pretty much my whole adult life. I have tried every "diet" under the sun I think. Weight watchers, Nutrisystem,Atkins, the banana diet, the cabbage diet, the cave man diet, on and on. Never could stick with any of them. I am really bad when someone tells me what I HAVE to eat. That is what I like about Spark People. It lets me decide what and how to eat. I love the food journal that keeps track of everything for me. Now granted I have only been a member less than a week and have not even done my first weigh in. Too scared to get on those scales. What if I have been soooo good and end up gaining weight??? But, my plan is to weigh on tues and see what happens. Then I will be on vacation for a week. So that is scarey too. But, the friends I have in spark ppl and everyone I am meeting will be my inspiration! Good luck to everyone.
THE ONLY WAY TO START DOWN THE ROAD TO SUCCESS IS TO MOVE YOU FEET, ONE STEP AT A TIME, IN THE DIRECTION YOU WANT TO GO.
I chose forward, how about you??
