When I joined I had gained 30 or so pounds from a 20 year low. I was excited about the loss and a little upset that I had regained so quickly. I hated tracking and wanted to do things the way I had learned doing a diet program that I no longer participated in.

I wish I could say that I grasped the concepts easily and have absolutely reached my goals. Alas, this has not happened. I have learned what doesn't work, but more importantly, I am realizing what does work.

What doesn't work out for me is thinking I can eat healthy and not track. It also doesn't work when I work at my job and don't put in time elsewhere.

What works for me is tracking, tracking, tracking. I also find that weighing daily helps me catch changes quickly and make adjustments. What works for me is having a variety of activities I can do with the limitations I have at times.

I enjoy the associations I have gained through Spark, the friends I've made, the things I've learned. I have also lost two friends who have passed away while on Spark.

It's been five years since we all hooked up with SparkPeople.

Have you enjoyed my time here?

Though I'm still working on how to get to where I want to get, I've learned a lot about myself. I've learned I have to keep examining what I'm doing and tweaking my habits until I get the new habits that get me to my goal.

How about you? What has the last five years been like?
