Interesting. I'm working on strength training too. I'm taking a class as the community college. It's been four weeks, and I feel stronger already. I am tired, though. I need more rest now that I'm a little older. It's getting harder to work in the cardio because I'm resting from the strength. Oh well. One day at a time. Soon, I'll get it all together again.

Still here.Guess what? the saying "use it or lose it" is true. I spent too much time sitting at the computer and lost strength. Now I am working to gain back the flexibility and overall strength I lost. In the past 3 years I have broken a wrist (fall) and a year ago tore cartilage in my right knee. The knee problem came from continuing to my goal of 10,000 + steps when my body had enough. Now I have to concentrate on overall strength, flexibility through a variety of exercises instead of depending on walking as my main exercise.

MsDiamond...Glad you are still here!

Retired...Constant improvement; I love it!

When I was 30 I lost a lot of weight. I stopped doing the work because my ribs were showing in my chest. I never lost the belly flab, though. I think some amount must be normal for some. I'm more focued on overall health, than a certain weight or figure....

I am still happy with Sparkpeople after all these years. When I started, I was the heaviest I had ever been, which was not heavy for most. But, I really didn't like the idea of growing out of my clothes, and not being fit. I started tracking my food and exercise, and dropped those extra pounds pretty quickly -- I think by December of 2007. But, I kept up with SP because I really wanted to keep fit. I was 60 years old when I joined, and it became more and more apparent that I needed to emphasize fitness.

Can't say that I have always kept up with my fitness goals, but I am working on it more and more these days. And, the good news is that my husband has joined me in walks almost every morning (usually for one hour). When the weather is cooler/cold, we change our timing (take afternoon walks.)

I decided on a weight range rather than a specific number, and I have managed to stay within my range for quite a while. But, I am suffering from a jelly belly issue. I think this is probably due to getting older, etc., but I am working on it. Our latest effort is to reduce the sweets. My husband loves sweets, and I was joining him in eating cookies here, cake there, etc. Our effort is less than a week old, but so far, so good.

I'd be interested if anyone has had success in reducing the belly fat. I don't want to lose weight, just redistribute it a bit. LOL

emoticon Let's keep going. I am learning to bounce back from setbacks to minimize the damage. That has changed my perspective, and I now see myself as a thin person, in progress. emoticon

What happened to everyone? I know I strayed away and so did my weight! I'm back and I am going to do it this time around. I DID manage to keep 9 lbs off, so I am very proud of that. Now I will NOT look back, but only forward.

Can you believe it's been five years since we signed up to SparkPeople?
What's happened since?
What has been the most useful aspects of this website?
Did you reach the goals you originally set out to, or have you set new goals?
Has it been smooth sailing or a challenging ride?
